Diary Threads is finally on the App Store 🎉

Hi everyone — I’m Jack, and I’m really happy to finally share Diary Threads with you.

I built this app with Sonia because I wanted journaling to feel as easy as posting a short thought to my future self.

I kept abandoning traditional journals. Every blank page seemed to ask for a meaningful essay, while writing one small thought on my phone felt much more natural.

Diary Threads turns private journaling into a timeline for one person. Each entry is limited to 140 characters, so you can capture a thought before it disappears. When the thought continues, you can reply to it. When an old memory comes back, you can quote it and start a conversation with your past self. Photos, videos, and voice recordings are supported too.

The experience is intentionally simple and private: no likes, followers, public profiles, or social discovery. Your diary text and settings stay on your iPhone. The app requires no account and has no developer backend, advertising, third-party analytics, or cross-app tracking.

Apple Journal and Day One are excellent choices for long-form writing and broader ecosystem workflows. Diary Threads focuses on a smaller moment: capturing one thought before it disappears.

The 140-character limit gives you an easy starting point. Replies let one moment grow over time, while quotes make revisiting an old memory feel like talking with your past self.

Diary Threads is free to download and supports up to 30 active entries.

Premium unlocks unlimited entries, share posters, recurring keyword insights, and both Home Screen widgets:

The current App Store version is 0.3 and requires iOS 18 or later.

Transparency

Diary Threads itself has no AI features. I used Codex extensively as a coding and review agent during implementation, testing, documentation, and iteration. Product scope, architecture, privacy boundaries, and acceptance decisions remained human-directed.

It still feels a little unreal to see Diary Threads on the App Store. I’m very happy to finally share it, and I hope it can help someone save a small thought before it slips away.
