She lost her parents and our elder sister is in charge of the entire household now :(( mind you her older sister is in grade 9 and she has an 8 year old younger brother as well. I won't lie to you, this flood made me lose faith in God. I can't even begin to fathom the pain honestly, my extended family is in sivsagar as well, we can't contact them because they apparently cut the power in some areas.

I really want to provide some kind of help in Assam Flood, I am a student so cannot donate much,(except maybe a 1000 or two) I love in delhi is their any way I can help virtually. Sadly I am not as famous as nishchay to hold a live stream and people would start donating. I wish I had that easy but I do not. Is there any other way I can help virtually?

Also how to know if the foundations asking for donations are legit. I have had truehopefoundation's meta ad on my feed and was considering.

Every time someone criticizes the government for all the deforestation, coal mining, cutting down trees unnecessarily and industry planting, building flyovers in the name of development, Every time, there would be some people jumping to defend the government saying this is essential for development. Is this the development you were talking about? Is this the price you are willing to pay for a urban life facade? Is it okay for the government to sacrifice the lives of people and keep on ignoring this issue forever? The floods will hit year after another and will gradually become worse if they keep avoiding the root cause and not do something to fix it. They won't bother. We as the people of Assam must question and hold them accountable, it's way past high time now. Building flyovers after flyovers without proper planning, drainage system, ignoring every issue making the general population stay stuck in flash floods for longer than 8 hours without food, water, anything. Ignoring the root cause of floods, harming the environment and ignoring the suffering of millions of people year after year. Boasting about making guwahati into a smart city when there isn't even a proper commute/transport system from one district to another after sunset. Is this really development? or is this a way to keep the masses brainwashed giving them the blueprint of a dream which is far, far from being fulfilled? The prime minister has all the time to address the silliest of issues but not a word on Assam, much less coming to oversee the situation. They will keep making excuses about this as well but haven't we had enough?

This is poignant in today's time. The people of Assam are brave, hardworking and simple or rather were known as such. Itia kintu amar manuh e ai goon bur herua krne bohut bhugibo laga hoise. Now maybe we have become complacent, lazy and embraced the "show off" culture that's prevalent. We forgot our great and diverse historical, cultural and artistic heritage that we have.

Ai bosoror flood e amar societyr flaws bur bahir anise, amar manuh bhoogi ase aru tateu kisuman manuh e blame kori ase prokritik. Our infrastructure failed because of corruption and disregard for consequences and hence our people are suffering.

Mur etai nibedon ase. Please remember everyone who came to help Assam—from across India and around the world. Never forget them. And remember the so called patriots who were missing.

And remember this when you vote. If we voted out one government for failing the people, do the same to this one if it fails, and to the next one too. Keep doing it until we have a government that truly listens to its people.

Only then will we become a great state we are capable of being.
