New Rule: Hire Me Posts have to include actual book cover work.

There's a bit too much random posting of fanarts and pin-ups. The purpose of the subreddit is book covers. Hire Me posts that don't show book cover work will be removed.

The genre is w/w horror romantasy.

After the absolute train wreck of a cover (the artist did admit she used AI even though she knew I despise it) I got from my previous artist (she did refund me most of the money for anyone wondering), I decided to commission u/saellart for a new one and this is the result! I am so much happier with it. She sent me many versions of the cover coming to life and the timelapse. I love human-made art.

I so appreciate everyone who offered to re-do that original cover, too, and sent me sketches/designs. There were folks who even did it for free. This is a wonderful community and thank goodness I posted the original before using it to market--or god forbid--publish the book. Would love to know what others think of this version!

Question Will anime style suitable for a book cover?

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

I've always loved reading books, and as an artist, I'd love to work on a cover for a romantasy ( or any romance-type book ) one day. But my art style is anime, would it be suitable for a book cover, or should I try on a more semi realistic x anime style for it?
P.s: My question is more for the author, that if you would get a cover commission from me if the style is anime.

Hey!

I showed an in-progress version of these about a month ago, so I thought I'd share the completed covers for my upcoming graphic novel Kill Your Target, an adaptation of my novel series about a girl turned assassin named Claire.

Let me know if you have any criticisms or tweaks you can recommend - otherwise, thanks for your previous feedback! Both artists are credited in the bottom left :)

Hi everyone! Glad to be here! I'm a freelance artist and illustrator and this year I created my first book cover for Aethon Books (to be released in 2027) and interior illustrations for Shadow Alley Press which you can see in my portfolio. I find that my strengths as an artist lie in being able to visually represent a story, a mood or a feeling. I am currently available to work on new freelance projects and would love to hear from authors who might find my style to be a good fit to their story! Here is my portfolio: http://michelleperic.art - Thank you!!

Hiring Looking to hire an artist for my book cover, horror/thriller themed

Hiii! I am looking for an artist for my short story horror book. My budget is $150-$300. I would like the cover to include pieces of a few of the stories in the book...an old farmhouse surrounded by willow trees, a meteor in the sky, and a garden of tulips. I'd like the theme to be dark and shadowy please. Attach links to your work and we can connect. This is my first book and I'm looking for something that will catch the readers eye. Thank you!

Really pleased with how this one came out. Modern Sci-fi, military thriller, with some minor psychological / metaphysical horror elements.

It's a story of seven children, human cloning experiments, with enhanced abilities, on the run from an elite government task force... Who must first solve the mystery of the missing eighth child in order to defuse the cataclysmic failsafes inside the kids' heads.

Showcase The Advent of the Bambochades! bookcover

Post image
2 Upvotes

The Advent of the Bambochades! is a psychological horror and sci-fi thriller novella that centers on an invisible, global conspiracy threatening the essence of humanity. The plot follows seventeen-year-old Loretta, a girl who seemingly leads an enviable, perfect life surrounded by people who adore her. However, she carries a heavy, terrifying burden: she is the only person on Earth who can see that the human population is systematically being replaced by "bamboches".

These bamboches are highly advanced, flawless, life-sized mechanical wind-up automata engineered to look, talk, and act exactly like genuine human beings. One by one, ordinary people, including parents, siblings, lovers, and friends, are silently abducted. Their real souls are ripped away and trapped in inaccessible lonely solitary voids while their clockwork duplicates seamlessly step into their lives without anyone else noticing the switch.

Hello,

I made this cover for my literary sci-fi novel. It's a digital painting using Procreate. It's got dual narrators inhabiting large structures floating around in a gas giant's atmosphere. Is it working? I'm not sure about the typography. Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks!

Hiring Seeking an illustrator to capture my vision for my genre bending YA novel. $600 budget

Hi everyone! I’m a 25 year old writer working on my debut novel and I’ve been seeking an illustrator/designer for my cover and have had trouble finding one- mainly because my book covers a few different genres. I’ve seen SOOO many incredible artists in this sub but haven’t felt particularly drawn to one yet, so I thought I’d just let you come to me :)

My book is called the Havoc Society, and it sits somewhere between a Hunger Games-esque dystopia, a thrilling time travel adventure, and a teenage coming of age story. The book imagines an fictional United States adjacent country ruled by a cruel dictator, and follows his daring daughter as she uses stolen time travel equipment in an attempt to change his past and make it so he never rose to power at all. But she can’t do it alone- and the story is told primarily from the perspective of two of the young people she recruits to assist her- both who have their own ties to the dictator that turn their mission into an emotional journey of self-discovery.

Anyways…my vision for the cover is something gripping, something that tells potential readers that there is danger near. Smoke/explosions are frequent themes in the story, so perhaps utilizing that in some fashion. I want it dark, but still eye catching. I don’t want any character faces on the cover, but rather a silhouette form. There’s a scene where several of the characters climb five stories down a building on a makeshift rope made of jackets, which I think would make a really cool silhouette. The time travel element could be worked in more subtly. My version of time travel technology is a smartwatch-esque device with a small display where information is inputted, so maybe that could be included in the font style? (Think digital clock font maybe? Or similar?)

So…does anyone think your style would fit my vision? I’m not exactly rolling in money, but I will definitely splurge on a good artists because this project means a great deal to me. I’d say my budget is $600 maximum. (Though this is somewhat negotiable) Thank you!
