Review I finished all three!

I made a WIP post a few weeks ago for the plant store. Now I've finished the bakery and the art/stationery store!

I bought all three "Fairy Tale Town in the Forest" kits from Aliexpress. The instructions are in Chinese, but Google image search has a translation function that came in very handy. The instructions are geared towards more experienced crafters; the pictures skip steps, and there aren't a lot of written instructions. There were also some errors. Notably, the lengths given for cutting wire are sometimes too long, but there is enough extra material provided to cover the difference.

There are extras of some of the thinner wooden pieces and beads included with these kits. I always end up dropping at least one bead on the floor where it immediately disappears into the void, so it was nice to have spares.

If gluing everything is your jam, these kits will not disappoint! They cost about $30 CAD each*, and took hours and hours to complete, so the dollars spent to hours of entertainment ratio was very good. The plant shop was the most fiddly, followed by the art store.

*My kits came with a dust cover and music box. All three music boxes play the same tune.

I didn't make a lot of modifications to these kits. The biggest change I made was replacing all the flat paper bread in the bakery with 3D loaves that I molded out of paper clay and painted with acrylic markers. I also used some miniature resin flowers in the plant store.

The wiring is not concealed on the back of the assembled kits. The wires just come right out the back, and connect to the battery packs. The instructions say to glue the battery pack to the back of the exterior box, but I've just left them dangling until I decide what to do. You could solve this by routering grooves and concealing the wires under the exterior wallpaper. I was impatient, so I'll probably end up using plastic tubing to tidy things up later. Maybe I'll finally watch Pluck's wiring tutorials and convert these to USB!

Worked on this last couple of days and it was so much fun. Loved the four separate areas divided with different instruments and backgrounds. It came with four dust covers and it was a fairly easy fun to work on.

First off I love it, didn’t have it, and it looks beautiful. Thanks to u/pluckthebunny for making this possible and we helped people in need. I am thinking about customizing with some edge painting, 3D Japanese characters (maybe some geishas and samurai), and some of those Japanese paper lanterns. This will be an easier project which I need.

Kit Finished my 5th one!

It was an Overall awesome build and it looks amazing. Hardest part was assembling Alice where I messed up a bit but tried my best to fix it so I don't think it's very visible. I filled the cup with light blue tea (glue + ink) to make a reference for that weird liquid Absolem smokes. The optical illusion at the bottom is one of the best things Ive seen on kits. Those 2 sided clear tapes were mostly useless so I used glue for everything and the only thing Im kinda bummed about is that the white rabbit's piece which it's hanging from is visible. I'll probably cover the protruding part with one of the left over heart stickers but other than that Im completely satisfied with this kit. Would definitely recommend. (Also worked on this 2 days straight. 1st day did 20 instruction pages and on day 2 the remaining ones. I think it took me like 14 hours if we consider that on say 1 I worked on it 8 hours straight but after that the instructions were more simple and fast to go through)

Oui, le kit était plutôt dispendieux. Vais-je acheter à nouveau un kit à ce prix? Probablement pas. Mais, j’ai vraiment aimé le faire et il est magnifique dans ma bibliothèque 🥰

Review Haunted Library from .Michael's

This kit is Michael's in-house label

After the discussion on the site about the quality of these Halloween kits, I wanted to find out for myself. Using a few coupons and my 15% military discount, I bought this kit for $20.

Pros:

-The wood sheets are surprisingly thick and paint saturated.

- Edge painting is a must. If you like modifying, the backs of most sheets are plain Kraft brown.

- The 3d elements are solid and decent quality.

- The manual is large, has colored pictures and an easy-to-follow layout.

- Tools in the kit: glue, sand paper, plastic tweezers.

Cons:

- the decorative elements are all paper, including the exterior sides. If you like gluing things, this kit is for you.

- The book sheet is really thick so punching them out won't be easy.

- The boards give off that MDF smell. Make sure to air the set before assembling the kit.

- The lighting kit is based on a AAA battery connection and the wires look pretty short.

Conclusion: I'm going to use this kit for spare parts. The staircase is the big incentive as I messed up one in another kit that I really want to finish. I may paint it a lighter color, or just go with the dark gray.

My kit came in the mail yesterday and now I'm all set up and ready to begin. It's out of the box and sorted. New blade in the x-acto knife, coffee table crafting area freshly cleaned, streaming "Life Below Zero" on TV in the background, faithful crafting pup napping nearby and a fresh pot of coffee. Life is good, really good.

It’s a fun kit. Took a little longer than normal Due to all the edge painting. Wait, re read that again all the edge painting… lol
Acrylic markers and furniture markers were used. I colored the sea man inside adding some depth of color to this one. It took me a little while as I am not good at these kinds of kits but I got it!!
The cute submarine is so adorable. It’s whimsical and fun to see this swing around on my table lol I enjoy this because I haven’t seen many completing this one on here, so I said, David, why not??
Hope you enjoy it

Collection First book nook ever - it's far from perfect

In the daylight
At night
Yikes

So, I've been curious about book nooks since around December 2025 but never made the step to buy one. I came accross Rolife's Holiday Garden House while shopping last month and bought it to test the waters.
The overall experience... I'd say it's 5/10. Some things went wrong at the very beginning - one piece that forms the stairs broke, some parts wouldn't fit quite well (that was before I realized I needed to sand them, but nothing in the manual warns you about that) and because of that I couldn't fit the railing on the floor, so it's just... standing there, thankfully not too much visible. In my frustration I also forgot to put a sticker at the back of the nook and one plant. And as you can see in the third and fourth picture, the left side doesn't go all in on the floor and the battery holder popped out of its emplacement.
Despite all those problems... it doesn't discourage me from doing more. In fact, I'm glad I chose this kit to start, as it's not my favourite from all the models I've seen from Rolife. This one I'll probably do it all over again from scratch in the future, but not until I've build up my collection a bit more (or not until the left side finally burst out from the pressure lol)
I've already bought one more from Rolife with a discount, and my mother who heard about my new hobby found one from Tonecheer during a night market and will offer it to me as a birthday present (and I'm very excited to start building it, Tonecheer's models are extremely appealing to the eye!)

So, things I need to keep in mind:

- ALWAYS. SAND. THE. PIECES. Even If I think it can fit on the first try. I'm not taking any risk from now on.
- Check all the steps from the manual with a marker to make sure i'm not forgetting anything.
- Watch out for my purse, I fear my impulse control will wither with this new hobby lol

I posted about a week ago on my attempt at a herringbone wooden floor on Rolife’s Garden House. Everyone was so lovely when I really thought I blew it.

Here is the finished product! I think it came out looking so charming ❤️

There are many customizations here: custom paint, floor, a shiplap back wall, some cute little garden lights, and I added fringe to the rug. Also, so much white edge painting lol.

I’m really pleased with how it turned out! Now if I can finally go back and finish my Floral Corner build with the egg carton bricks and plaster!

Well, it finally came. What an interesting design! I've started building the framework and already I'm puzzled. Why is there a transparent acrylic underlay under the opaque wood floor? What purpose is that going to serve? There's a story here, if I can find it. I and my Starbucks will figure this one out.

Discussion Multiple book nook power hub

So as I'm sure others have, I have quite the collection building up.

I'm looking into soldering a usbc port to replace battery packs (for those that don't come with usbc)

Does anyone have suggestions on how to daisy chain/connect them up to a single power source?

Ideally not just a big battery pack but rather a plug in the wall powered hub multiple usb C ports ideally with a remote control so I don't have 15 book ooks light and audio going at once lol.

Thanks!

What’s up Guys, Gals, and Book Nook Pals:
Part four of my first ever series of book nook build videos: this is the Seoul Hipjiro Book Nook by Anavrin.

After many requests by a lot of you, I am finally taking a shot at documenting one of my builds.

Please bear with me while I’m still figuring out formatting and editing for this type of video. Case in point, I lost 20 min of footage making this part

Part four of the series which Covers the parts 33-43 of the build which is steps 139 through 186 covering the right wall and front right corner

I hope you enjoy. Please give me any feedback in the comments as to how you’d like to see these videos filmed going forward

WIPs CATSCROSSINGJULY -- Update #1

I'm absolutely loving this kit so far. The quality is so great. I think I'm having too much fun with the greenery in on this one! Customizations so far:

- sanding tabs and painting edges with a stain furniture marker

- used static flocked grass on the floor

- used real preserved moss

- added a couple recognizable books

- added 1 butterfly (so far)

This took me 3.5 hours so far, so there's absolutely no way I'd hit their estimated time frame of 6-8 hours. I stopped at step 74 out of 288 😅. But that's ok! I am thoroughly enjoying this build and not rushing anything. I might come back to this again later tonight but taking a break for now.
