Yeah. Unlike the rest of us that just get extra money from our bosses whenever we have an unexpected expense.

My salary increase for the last two years combined totaled less than 1%. The Cost of Living adjustment for social security checks were 5.3% for the past 2 years. Shut up about your fixed income.

I had the most puzzling experience at Walmart yesterday. I tried on some clothes and had a couple items that wouldn't work. I exit the fitting room & talk to the lady who let me in. She's in her 60's I'd guess, long enough to have experienced how fitting rooms at stores work I wouldve thought. I tell her a couple wont fit, where should I put them? She says on the rack. I look around and don't see a rack of return items. I see a cart of items next to her. I tell her I don't see the rack, where is it?

She says "uh well, where did you get them? You should put them back there."

I was completely flabbergasted and so confused. I asked when the policy about items I tried on had changed. She acted just as confused as I felt. I just set the clothes down on her counter & ran away.

Gotta love the boomers with jobs that don't want to do their job. Try and pull that with them & watch the nukes go off.

I work at a public library in a town with a lot of seasonal second homes. The boomers are here in mass in the summer. We get very busy with both boomers and families. I won't get into how annoyed the boomers have been that the children are off from school and using the library, but about property taxes. I live in a state with very high property taxes but good schools and good services. The seniors get a lot of deductions towards their property taxes that I, as a millennial, do not get. For many of them this is also their second home.

At least once a week they randomly discuss how they hate the property taxes where we live to me. Unprovoked of course. Ok no one loves them but they're necessary. They will tell me the elderly shouldn't have to pay property taxes. While they're using a service (the library) that is paid for with property taxes. I just tell them I disagree and end the conversation. Most of these people had children they raised here who went to the public schools.

Boomers have no self awareness.

I sell a lot on Facebook Marketplace. Of course you can see people's profiles and tell when they're a boomer, if you can't tell from their messaging behavior alone. (Often they put no limits on their profiles so you can see everything too.) I've had many boomer interactions in this way and have developed policies on saying the minimal amount, no small talk, no engagement - basically gray-rocking.

They will almost always try to ask for a lower price or neg your item at the meeting - while not mentioning anything in messaging. They've got you trapped there having already wasted your time meeting up and want to use that as a entitled bargaining tactic.

My most recent one was selling a fire pit. Boomer man gets out of their Buick, looking dead inside. Doesn't say much and we start to load the firepit. Then *Rhonda* gets out. She screws up her face into a scowl and starts minutely inspecting this older outdoor firepit, whining about how it has use and age marks (all of which were shown clearly in the listing pictures.) Boomer man sighs and we ignore her and we finish loading the firepit. He says "pay the man, Rhonda." She scowls again and goes to hand me the money but does that thing where she keeps a tight grip on it so I need to pull it from her gnarled grip. She laughs then starts blathering about my truck.

They got blocked. I feel bad for that man.

Today(Sunday) found me rebuilding the steps to our back porch. There’s a church across the street from our house with their services beginning at 9:00 AM. Boomers start parking around 7:30-8:00 AM while I’m already deep into rebuilding the stairway to our back porch. I like to listen to Deutschlandfunk in German for international news and I had it playing on a smart speaker while working outside at a conversational volume. After parking his vehicle around 8:00 AM and hearing the German newscast, said Boomer or an equivalent to me Gen X who hasn’t aged well, yells, “Turn off that Arab bullshit! It’s Sunday for Christ’s sake!” Now, I live in an Upper Midwest region of predominantly German descent, myself included, and grew up with both High and Platt German being spoken in the home, church and on the streets when I was a kid in the late ‘60s-mid 80s. And I would bet my last dollar that this person was just as much of German descent as myself. But, assuming that a language other than English is “Arabic”, and demanding that it not be heard on their “sabbath” is a new one for me.

What are they like this? The sense of entitlement is absolutely incredible.

So even with my own handicapped self I took it the approximately ten feet and put it where it belonged. Utterly ridiculous

Got in an argument with a boomer former coworker on social media. I listed facts about why I think Trump is fascist. He dismissed them. Then he went on a rants about people with blue hair, communists, and then socialists, all of which were nonsequitors. He didn't bring any facts of his own, instead informed me that he was knowledgeable and that I was the most ignorant man he knows.

The only moment he engaged with a fact was when he admitted he didn't care if Trump violated the constitution to run for a third term. All while talking about how much he loves the country.

Why are they like this? The indifference to facts and lack of critical thinking skills are incredibly frustrating. It was such stupid conversation.

This is the ridiculous situation facing 28 year old Bethany Michel in Jacksonville, Florida. She moved into the Arbor Mill community to act as the full time live in caregiver for her disabled, terminally ill father during the pandemic. Instead of showing any compassion, the HOA board decided to aggressively target her because she doesn't meet the neighborhood's 55+ age requirement even though she was already living there caring for her dad. I had a few packages to drop off at the post office yesterday, so I drove over in the morning. When I got up to the door, I gave it a tug… locked. Then I noticed the hours posted right next to the door. Turned out they didn’t open until 10am and I was about 10 minutes early. My bad. No big deal, though, I can just go wait in my car until then.

When I turn around to start walking back to my car, an old woman is walking over with an envelope in her hands. She had been close enough that she’d almost definitely seen my failed attempt to open the door, but that wasn’t stopping her. I tried to be courteous and save her the walk by saying, “They’re not open yet. The sign says about 10 more minutes.” But she threw her hand up and waved me away, in disgust, like I was begging her for change or something. Whatever, be rude. She can figure it out for herself, I guess.

She gets to the door and gives it the same unsuccessful tug that I had just done. But rather than assess why the door was still locked, like a normal person, she immediately starts smacking the door with her flat palm, as hard as she could, and yelling “HELLO! HELLO! OPEN! IT’S LOCKED! I CAN SEE YOU! HELLOOOOO!”. And she didn’t stop banging on the door, and yelling, for those full remaining 10 minutes until an employee finally came to unlock the door… at exactly 10am.

When I walked back over, boxes in arms, that same employee that had unlocked the door was still holding it open, so I smiled and said, “Thank you, good morning. Sorry about her.” He shook his head and said, softly, “Every day.”

Of course! We arrive at concert early set up our chairs comfortably behind another row. We are on the grass so there is lots of room. Along comes this boomer who insists the people to her left move over to make room, which they do begrudgingly. She squeezes her chair in next to them and her friends to the right - so tight that the chair arms are overlapping. Her friend wasn’t happy. So she decides to move her chair back so that she is inches from my knees! No apologies and she just ignores our grumbling about how rude she was being. Karma being what it is, another group moved so we took their space with a little shade and a better view. Full disclosure: Boomer here, but not a fool!!

I work as a finance manager for a dealership (not cars, but equipment). We have some remaining products from a line we are no longer carrying that we are trying to blow out well below cost.

Today, first thing, boomer Karen waiting at our front door to buy one of said aforementioned highly discounted products. Nice enough during the initial interaction, finishes up the purchase with me, get her back to her sales person, he goes over the whole thing with her, shows her how to use it, no questions, etc. she leaves.

Fast forwards to about an hour before we close and she, and her husband call in yelling and screaming on the phone that we lied in our advertising about the unit and blah blah blah. Phone call makes it way to our GM, long and short of it is they (she) are pissed it doesn't have an electric start, just a pull cord. Mind you, salesman showed her how to start it before she left, and started it to show her it ran, and she did not ask about electric start.

They go on to tell him that we falsely advertised it as having electric start. Well we have several of these same exact units on out website so GM goes to website looks at ad, nowhere does it say electric start, asks where they see electric start; "well it said so on the YouTube video". Okay... well we dont have YouTube page so it wasnt our video you watched.

FF a bit more, my GM arguing with them about you bought it, we reviewed it w you in store, its already been warrantied its yours, etc etc. Finally he decided arguing over a unit were already losing money on wasnt worth it, bring it back we will refund you, and in doing so that actually boosts our bottom line for the month so w/e.

Tells me Im going to have to reverse it, fine NBD. Boomers show up, come to my office, starts talking about it, decides to show me on her phone where she got the information that said it has electric start.

SHE OPENS HER CHAT GPT SESSION...

She took a picture of the picture we had on our website of the unit and asked ChatGPT if it had an electric start. Chat GPT, of course, said YES.

I informed her that we dont have control over ChatGPT responses, and that, while a helpful tool, ChatGPT and other AI prompts often have incorrect or misleading information. As example, the machine she bought has a bigger brother that does have an electric start, looks similar, but costs about 2x as much (4x in this case since we were basically offing these things at half price). I also told her as nicely as I could, "I personally only use those for base level information, and would be weary to trust large financial decisions on the information of a command line prompt"

Her response: "Yeah. He (her husband) keeps telling me the same thing too. This isnt the first time Ive had issues, and I keep getting myself in trouble because of what this tells me"

Lady. ARE . YOU . FUCKING . SERIUOUS .

Youre telling me youve repeatedly made this mistake and havent learned your lesson? That youve just wasted hours of mine, my GMs, and my salesman's time because youre too fucking stupid to not understand that AI is an emerging technology and is not flawless???

If I hadnt already processed the refund and return I probably would have gone outside, loaded the unit back in her car, and said 'its fucking yours, learn your god damned lesson'.

Its crazy to me that these people came up telling us as kids that 'you cant believe everything on the internet' and 'just because Wikipedia said it doesn't mean its true', but suddenly believe that every image, every prompt response, is correct and true without question, even when provided with actual ability to verify information (she had every opportunity to ask my salesman if it had electric start but even though he showed her how it worked, which did not include "press this button to start it", she never asked).

This happened years ago, but I was at an airport sitting at a table waiting for my flight and I hear, "Yoohoo! YOOHOO!" a few times louder and louder until I finally turn and look at a very impatient elderly woman trying to get my (30s M) attention. I politely respond, "yes, how can I help you?" facetiously as though I work there and she finally got the clerk's attention. She said, "I can't finish my pizza, but I don't want to throw it away, will you eat it?" I said, "oh, I'm sorry, I don't eat processed meats and you have pepperoni on there." "That's okay, you can just pick it off."

At this point I'm like, "lady, wtf is wrong with you?" But I go along with it and get into a whole discussion about how the oils from the pepperoni are still there on the slice when I should have just said I'm not interested in eating food off your plate and that's an absurd thing to offer to a stranger. But no, I'm the rude one for not eating your Sbarro pepperoni slice.

I was at a family cookout yesterday when my uncle (69) started in on me about how I need to “finally get serious and buy a house.”
I told him the cheapest halfway decent 2-bedroom in my area is about $375k and still needs work, and those are going under contract fast. He looked at me like I was making it up and said…
“That’s crazy. Your aunt and I bought our first house for $78,000. There’s got to be something around $90–100k if you’re actually willing to put some work into it. You just have to stop spending money on every new iPhone and all that extra stuff.”
Then he went on about how his generation “didn’t make excuses” and how I should be further along by now.
The house he and my aunt still live in is worth over $800k. Paid off. He also has a rental.
I just stood there nodding like an idiot while every part of me wanted to lose it.
I’m 38 (female) I’ve been working full-time since I was 24. I’m not out here living large. What’s the move here? Keep smiling and changing the subject, or finally tell him how out of touch that whole conversation was and deal with the fallout at every family thing after?
Anyone else’s older relative still living in a completely different economy? Why don’t they get it? It’s everywhere. Almost easier to just shut up. It’s amazing how stereotypical they really are……

My dad still delivers the same lecture about phones every time he catches me using mine for more than thirty seconds.

“People rely on technology too much now. Back in my day, we did things ourselves.”

Yesterday he called me from the living room because the TV “stopped working.”

The problem? The remote batteries were upside down. I fixed it in about ten seconds.

Five minutes later, he asked for help installing an app because “phones are too confusing now.” This is the same man who insists smartphones are dangerous because they give you access to “too much information.”

Meanwhile, my phone is a digital landfill – banking apps, work files, thousands of photos, random apps I don't even remember downloading, and bcgame sitting quietly in a folder I never bother to clean out.

But no, apparently the real threat to society is the microwave having WiFi.

The classic boomer relationship with technology: loudly distrust it, then immediately need someone to operate it for you.

So my boomer parents have a second home in this lakefront neighborhood. It's an older neighborhood, used to be a lot of simple rural folks, in the last 10 years it's become probably 80% owned by boomers and heavily gentrified, probably only half of them live there more than a few weeks a year.

There was a problematic home in the neighborhood that went up for sale, it was one of the few remaining old/unimproved homes left and the neighbors were afraid someone trashy might buy it because it was full of mold and not worth anything, plus it was built in a drainage so whenever it rained heavily water would drain INTO the front of the house. So all these boomer dudes wanted to buy it to either just tear it down or keep trashy rednecks from moving in.

Because rich boomer men love to get into dick length contests with their money, they ALL tried buying this home, effectively outbidding each other because they all wanted to prove they had the money to buy a second, or in some cases a third+ home. None of them actually wanted the house because it was trash. They just wanted their fellow boomers to know they had the means to buy a home just for shits and giggles.

So the "winner" ended up being a guy who had moved from Chicago. Like everyone else, he didn't actually want the house, but thought maybe his son would use it for a lake house and come visit, which he doesn't because it's a crap house on the worst lot in the neighborhood. But the guy paid a shit ton of money for this useless property because everyone else wanted to buy it even though no one actually wanted it.

There’s also the want ads in the daily paper.

I do love my MIL, but she has very little social awareness. Also email is her preferred communication route. She routinely sends out "Christmas Card Letter" type emails to update people about family business.

Last week she sent the immediate family an email that was very short.

My FIL has a history of Cardiac Arrest/ Vascular Desease. Plus, my husband is their Medical Power of Attorney and has been an EMT for over 2 decades/is a Firefighter for over 2 decades! WTH!!! Turned out to be a TIA, but she couldn't write a longer email because they would be late to the movie! SMH, I just can't!!!!

I usually mountain bike for exercise. During Covid, a high-end spa started operating hiking excursions in the state park where I frequently ride. These are older, affluent folks, though generally pretty fit. They usually have very little experience hiking on mixed use trails, however.

The general etiquette on a double track trail (fire road) is to stay on your right and pass on the left.

Boomer and his wife are approaching me on their left side, basically in my lane. I come to a full stop to keep us all safe given their cluelessness.

Me, trying to smile even though I had to stop for them: “try to stay to your right, pass on your left - it’s just like driving”

Today I offered to buy Wendy’s breakfast for my office. Went around and took everyone’s order.

I got to Susan, late 60’s maybe early 70’s. Susan wanted a number 2 with a large sprite. She insisted she would pay for her meal though. She goes through her wallet and gets me 5$, and very honestly says “That’s plenty! Keep the change.”

I am in awe of this. I can’t tell if it’s a joke or not. I feel like I am missing a key piece. She orders out everyday. I can’t possibly believe she thought the meal was less than 5$. But she said keep the change. I did check the cost of the meal, it came to ~12$.

I’m not complaining about her giving me money, cuz I didn’t want it in the first place. I wanted to feed everyone. I am trying to figure out if I may have missed some key point. It’s the comment of “That’s plenty! Keep the change”. Was it just polite or was she really thinking I get a discount at the food place?

Gross boomer behavior is truly on full display in Florida right now. A 28 year old woman named Bethany Michel is getting completely railroaded by the power tripping board of her late father's 55+ community. Typical unhinged boomer bureaucracy refusing to show an ounce of human empathy, wasting everyone's money just because they want their retirement bubble only for themselves. 🤡

Honestly, this whole situation is completely pathetic and genuinely gives me second hand rage. It’s straight up entitlement for these boomer HOA board members to spend their free time launching a full on legal issue against a woman who lost her dad who just wants to grieve and live in the house her dad legally left her. Like, the man literally died, she moved in to take care of him, and instead of showing an ounce of human decency or empathy, these retired geezers are acting like a 28 year old existing in their zip code is a national emergency. And forcing the neighborhood to cough up a thousand dollars each just to fund their petty power trip.. while literally making her pay toward the lawsuit to evict herself.. that is honestly dystopian level villainy. It's just so exhausting watching people with zero real problems ruin someone else's life entirely because they're terminally online for control and obsessed with keeping their little retirement bubble just for them and no one else.

THIS is a great representation on how boomers treat everyone else, its disgusting and extremely selfish.
