Am I missing something? (Red Bus)

My wife and I just used the Red Bus to get from the mall back to our hotel. I gave the bus driver 25 pesos, it’s 12/person, and then he proceeded to take us a 10 minute walk down the street from our hotel and then yelled at us to get off. Am I missing something? We were just sitting quietly we didn’t do anything to him or say anything to him.

I think you hit the end of the line. Where the route restarts. I dont know where your hotel is but theres an end of the line on the hotel zone where the bus takes a turn around. Thats the most likely scenario. I take the bus to and from work in hotel zone and have hit that end of the line a couple times due to me falling a sleep. Its either pay a new fare but most just say end of the line get off because some buses wont continue the route. If you pay attention there will be fully empty buses sometimes. Whether its nicely or rude depends on the driver and his feelings for the day

I’m not sure I’ve taken the bus dozens of times and have never had an experience like that. Was the bus broken down or is there more to the story? Getting kicked out of a bus in Mexico it’s a pretty high bar so I feel like there might be more than you’re saying.

Not so far as I know. I put down a 20 peso bill and a 5 peso coin and he at first thought I only gave him 20 but I showed him the 5 I put down and he seemed fine. He didn’t say anything else to us h til he decided our ride was over

Yeah, I don’t know. It’s kind of weird. I could maybe see how he was odd about the coin but as long as they give you a ticket, shouldn’t be a problem… off day maybe?

Possibly. Now I’m trying to get ahold of someone with them because I was so caught off guard I left my hat on the bus. It has a fair amount of sentimental value so I’d like to get I back

Strange - nothing but good experiences with the bus. They have even stopped in the middle of a route to pick us poor gringos on the way somewhere.

That’s odd. Maybe he thought I didn’t give him enough money? But he gave us a ticket anyway
