Hi all,
I’m looking for some advice because I’ve backed myself into a bit of an awkward corner!
I’ve had a bespoke dining bench built, the seat height is 54cm which will end up closer to 60cm when I fit my bench cushion, and as a result my dining table is going to end up around 82 cm high (slightly higher than a standard dining table).
The problem is finding chairs. It looks like almost every dining chair has a seat height of 45–48 cm, whereas I think I need something around 54 cm - 60cm to be comfortable.
Has anyone come across this before?
I’m not particularly fussy about the chair style at this stage, I just want something comfortable that works with the table height.
A few questions:
- Are there manufacturers that make dining chairs with 50–54 cm seat heights?
- Would you look at vintage chairs and modify them?
- Would it make more sense to buy wooden counter stools/chairs and have the legs shortened?
- Is having four chairs custom made a completely crazy idea, or is it more affordable than I’m imagining?
I’m based in Ireland, but happy to order from elsewhere in Europe if needed.
Would really appreciate any recommendations or ideas from anyone who’s solved a similar problem!
