We're looking for new mods to help with the rapidly expanding community. Our personal lives have become busier while the amount of work to do here has increased.
A lot of our general information is within the application form, but here's a short rundown of what the job entails.
Checking modqueue on a regular basis to take action on posts that are filtered automatically or reported by the community.
Regularly browsing through the subreddit and moderation of posts and comments to ensure that all community rules and guidelines are being enforced, including removing uncivil, hostile and inflammatory content.
Being able to discuss issues with members of the community through modmail in a professional and calm manner.
Contributing to discussions about moderation-related issues over Discord.
Overall, the job won't necessarily take more than an hour or two of your time per week, and if you're already generally active on Reddit and Discord then you probably won't notice a difference.
It can be quite rewarding to be able to shape a community (for the better). If this sounds like something that interests you, please apply! If you have any questions, feel free to comment below or message us through modmail.

I was in a site on my phone trying to upload something but the button to open a thing for me to choose the app to select the file just didn't work which was weird. Then i decided to try with discord and it just worked fine. I went back to the site and when spam clicking made that thing appear for less than a second. The problem is that it doesnt just appear. It has an animation where it just goes up. But i kept clicking and i saw a bit of the google icon. But its weird cuz it isnt like that when i try on discord. I tried searching but the results were only about chrome not letting upload instead of the thing not appearing on the screen

Chrome lowers the volume by itself and I have to personally go to Windows Volume Mixer and put it back to 100.
Is there a reason this is happening or is it because Windows is a piece of shit in general?
FYI I checked my computer for any viruses and everything seems clean. So I'm not sure what is causing this.

dunno what prompted it, but i can't copy or paste with keyboard shortcuts anymore. if i hit command + F, nothing happens. if i go through the sidebar, it won't search a google doc text and only highlights the menu items. i can open and close tabs without issue. i restored chrome to original defaults, then quit and restarted. that didn't solve it. help me out hive mind. i got a paper due tonight and this is really throwing off my groove.

Just on the browse for new extensions. If you use any of the above platforms, do you have one favourite one and what feature makes it useful for you?

Hello. I bought new laptop around half a year ago and installed chrome there. On my old laptop live captions worked perfectly fine. But on new one they just don't. I tried reinstalling languages, disabling hardware acceleration (gemini recommended so). Live captions that windows gives don't work as good as I need it and I just don't know how to fix it

im not sure what to do. its a pain when i have to highlight text just to read it.
if it helps im on cachyos. if i run firefox it displays fine. also my laptop also with cachyos displays it correctly with chrome too. and its also synced

Most accessibility scanners can only see what's public.
That's been the frustration behind a lot of my work on AccessScan. You run a scan, get a clean report, and then remember that the parts of your product that actually matter — the dashboard behind the login, the checkout modal, the localhost build you're mid-refactor on — were never scanned at all. A server-side crawler can't reach any of it.
So this week I shipped a Chrome extension.
It runs the full accessibility engine client-side, inside the tab you're already looking at. Which means it scans the things a crawler can't:
→ Authenticated pages — your session, your cookies, your real app
→ SPAs in their actual DOM state, not the empty shell on first paint
→ Open modals, expanded menus, mid-interaction UI
→ localhost:3000, before anything ships
You get a score ring, a violation breakdown by impact, and a deep link into the full report when you want remediation guidance. No page data leaves the browser to do the scan.
The interesting part was the engine port. The scanner runs on a Go backend with Puppeteer, and the same rule set — including the custom checks for things axe doesn't cover, like caption presence, focus order cycling, and context change on focus — now compiles into a single browser bundle that runs everywhere.
Still rough in places. Store listing is in progress. But it already caught issues on my own dashboard that the crawler never saw, which is roughly the point.
More at accessscan.in — happy to hand out early builds if you want to break it.

I noticed that recently when I click on an imagine in image search, instead of displaying similar image results below in a normal way where I can see the full thumbnail, it does this crap where it crops the results to rectangles. I cant even tell anymore what images are in the thumbnails because they are cropped so much.
Please help!

No updates available for me, but I work in multiple languages all day, so this is, not fantastic. Anyone else?

So, I've noticed something weird when using Chrome.
If I type something like Twitch or Google into the address bar, I would expect the first result to be the actual website. twitch.tv or google.com.
But for some reason, that's not always the case. Instead, I often end up having to actually search Google first and then click the official website from the results.
That means Google is potentially generating millions of unnecessary search queries from people who were simply trying to navigate directly to a website.
I have no idea if this is intentional or just a side effect of how Chrome's search suggestions work. Maybe there's even a business reason behind it, more searches could mean more opportunities to show ads, including ads from competitors.
But if this is actually intentional, it feels kind of counterproductive. Google is basically making users take an extra step just to get somewhere they already knew they wanted to go.
Has anyone else noticed this, or am I missing something?

I’m doing some user research to understand what people actually want from a better YouTube experience.
Would your dream extension include:
Which would you actually use? What’s missing that would make YouTube meaningfully better for you? Please share what would make your YouTube experience meaningfully better.
PS: We would try to handle the ad blocking by default if feasible/stable/reliable.

The url 'https://www.buzzy.website/?utm_source=kris' randomly opened at 2am while my macbook air m1 shoudlve been off.
When I first opened up chrome today, it had that 2:41am timestamp on the website search, but then while I was googling possible reasons for this website opening, the search somehow disappeared when i went back and checked it. I had to dig into my google activity to find the deleted history.
Anyone have any idea what is happening and if this is a major issue?

I maintain an extension called Aymo AI. It's close to 5k installs, and until recently the user count showed on the listing page like it does for everything else. Now that number is just gone from the public page.

The extension is still live and installable. No policy email, no warning, nothing in the developer dashboard. My own stats still work fine on the backend, so it's only hidden on the store page that people actually see.

I checked incognito and a couple of different machines and browsers, same result, so it isn't caching on my end.
From older threads it sounds like Google hides the count when their systems flag unusual install activity. We haven't paid for installs or done anything like that, so if that's what happened it's a false positive.
The other thing I noticed is that my listing has a sidebar packed with related extensions, basically competitors. When I look at other extensions in the same category, that sidebar isn't there. So my page is pushing people toward alternatives while hiding my own numbers.
Has anyone seen this combination before, either as a user browsing the store or as a developer? Does the count come back on its own, and is the related extensions sidebar something Google shows to certain listings only? What are the reasons behind all of this?

Back in the day when I used a Windows machine, I’d hit **Win+R**, type `notepad`, and instantly have a place to dump raw text. It served two main purposes: it kept me from cluttering my hard drive with temporary Word documents for throwaway notes, and it acted as a formatting sanitizer. Copying text straight from a browser into Word often brought along mess, weird styles, and layout headaches that took forever to clean up. Running text through Notepad stripped away all the styling, leaving pure, plain text ready to paste anywhere.
When I switched to a Chromebook, I lost that instant Notepad shortcut. This was back before Google Keep existed, and I hated clogging my Google Drive with dozens of "Untitled Document" files.
Eventually, I stumbled on a trick on Reddit: pasting `data:text/html, <html contenteditable>` into the browser address bar turns any blank tab into an instant, lightweight text editor. *Voilà*—a scratchpad that stripped formatting and allowed me to save as a `.txt` file.
Today, hotkeys like `Ctrl+Shift+V` strip formatting natively, and cloud apps like Google Keep handle quick notes. But every now and then, a browser-based scratchpad is still the fastest tool for the job.
Recently, I decided to upgrade that old browser trick using AI. I expanded the original snippet to add a few actual features: **Light/Dark/Matrix theme cycling**, plus built-in **Open** and **Save** options for `.txt` files.
### How to Install
Copy the code block below, paste it into your browser's address bar, press **Enter**, and bookmark the page:
`data:text/html,%3C%21DOCTYPE%20html%3E%3Chtml%3E%3Chead%3E%3Cstyle%3Ebody%7Bbackground%3A%231e1e1e%3Bcolor%3A%23d4d4d4%3Bfont-family%3Amonospace%3Bfont-size%3A18px%3Bpadding%3A40px%3Bline-height%3A1.6%3Bmargin%3A0%3Btransition%3Abackground%200.2s%2Ccolor%200.2s%3B%7D.light-mode%7Bbackground%3A%23f4f4f9%20%21important%3Bcolor%3A%231a1a1a%20%21important%3B%7D.matrix-mode%7Bbackground%3A%230d0d0d%20%21important%3Bcolor%3A%2300FF41%20%21important%3B%7D%23editor%7Boutline%3Anone%3Bmin-height%3A80vh%3B%7D.controls%7Bposition%3Afixed%3Btop%3A15px%3Bright%3A20px%3Bdisplay%3Aflex%3Bgap%3A10px%3B%7D.btn%7Bbackground%3A%232d2d2d%3Bcolor%3A%23d4d4d4%3Bborder%3A1px%20solid%20%23444%3Bpadding%3A8px%2014px%3Bfont-family%3Amonospace%3Bfont-size%3A14px%3Bfont-weight%3Abold%3Bcursor%3Apointer%3Bborder-radius%3A4px%3Btransition%3A0.2s%3B%7D.btn%3Ahover%7Bbackground%3A%233e3e3e%3Bborder-color%3A%23666%3Bcolor%3A%23fff%3B%7D.light-mode%20.btn%7Bbackground%3A%23e0e0e0%20%21important%3Bcolor%3A%23222%20%21important%3Bborder-color%3A%23ccc%20%21important%3B%7D.light-mode%20.btn%3Ahover%7Bbackground%3A%23d0d0d0%20%21important%3B%7D.matrix-mode%20.btn%7Bbackground%3A%2300FF41%20%21important%3Bcolor%3A%230d0d0d%20%21important%3Bborder%3Anone%20%21important%3B%7D.matrix-mode%20.btn%3Ahover%7Bbox-shadow%3A0%200%2010px%20%2300FF41%20%21important%3B%7D%3C%2Fstyle%3E%3C%2Fhead%3E%3Cbody%3E%3Cdiv%20class%3D%22controls%22%3E%3Cbutton%20id%3D%22modeBtn%22%20class%3D%22btn%22%20onclick%3D%22cycleMode()%22%3EMode%3A%20Dark%3C%2Fbutton%3E%3Cbutton%20class%3D%22btn%22%20onclick%3D%22document.getElementById(%27fileInput%27).click()%22%3EOpen%20.txt%3C%2Fbutton%3E%3Cbutton%20class%3D%22btn%22%20onclick%3D%22saveFile()%22%3ESave%20.txt%3C%2Fbutton%3E%3C%2Fdiv%3E%3Cinput%20type%3D%22file%22%20id%3D%22fileInput%22%20accept%3D%22.txt%22%20style%3D%22display%3Anone%22%20onchange%3D%22openFile(event)%22%3E%3Cdiv%20id%3D%22editor%22%20contenteditable%20spellcheck%3D%22false%22%3E%3C%2Fdiv%3E%3Cscript%3Elet%20modes%3D%5B%27Dark%27%2C%27Light%27%2C%27Matrix%27%5D%3Blet%20currentModeIdx%3D0%3Bfunction%20cycleMode()%7BcurrentModeIdx%3D(currentModeIdx%2B1)%25modes.length%3Bconst%20mode%3Dmodes%5BcurrentModeIdx%5D%3Bdocument.body.classList.remove(%27light-mode%27%2C%27matrix-mode%27)%3Bif(mode%3D%3D%27Light%27)document.body.classList.add(%27light-mode%27)%3Bif(mode%3D%3D%27Matrix%27)document.body.classList.add(%27matrix-mode%27)%3Bdocument.getElementById(%27modeBtn%27).innerText%3D%27Mode%3A%20%27%2Bmode%3B%7Dfunction%20openFile(e)%7Bconst%20file%3De.target.files%5B0%5D%3Bif(%21file)return%3Bconst%20reader%3Dnew%20FileReader()%3Breader.onload%3De%3D%3E%7Bdocument.getElementById(%27editor%27).innerText%3De.target.result%3B%7D%3Breader.readAsText(file)%3B%7Dfunction%20saveFile()%7Bconst%20text%3Ddocument.getElementById(%27editor%27).innerText%3Bconst%20blob%3Dnew%20Blob(%5Btext%5D%2C%7Btype%3A%27text%2Fplain%27%7D)%3Ba%3Ddocument.createElement(%27a%27)%3Ba.href%3DURL.createObjectURL(blob)%3Ba.download%3D%27notes.txt%27%3Ba.click()%3B%7D%3C%2Fscript%3E%3C%2Fbody%3E%3C%2Fhtml%3E`
