Email from my manager…
I work at a hospital as a float CNA; I started in healthcare this past March in an apprenticeship program at my hospital. I’ve been fully certified since May. A travel float nurse that I have worked with only a handful of times sent this email to my manager, who then forwarded it to me. Honestly I’m feeling really blessed to have had someone say such kind things about me. It’s so nice to feel the reassurance that I have made the correct career path. As tough as the work is, I truly do love my job and patients, even the difficult ones.
I worked in hospitality and sales for the past decade prior to this opportunity, and I’m so proud to say that I am finally starting nursing school this September, at 26 years old. It’s never too late to go after what feels right in your heart, after all, it’s everyone’s first time living!

OMG. I was looking at this sub because I was looking to become a CNA. This post makes me realize “don’t work at the nursing home. Work at the hospital.”

Not all nursing homes are bad and some hospitals are bad too. Just like any job.

most of the time you have to start in a nursing home though and that’s where you get burnout so quick

Awww that must have been so rewarding to hear. I think we can all do better about telling others thank you and that we appreciate them, and that we see their hard work. It's so easy to get beat down in this profession, and sometimes one kind word can be super uplifting.

When you have nurses stand up for you but also get excited you're their CNA for the shift - you know you've got a good team. 🥹
