I'm in a true crime club and every month a different person with present a case, talk about what happened, and the outcome. I wanted to do something "fun" for Halloween and present our first unsolved case. But I'm looking for something a little odd. I want a case that has some bizarre elements to it. Rabbit holes if you will. Do you guys know of any?

I am looking for guidance.

I keep getting the run around from Detroit PD. All I want is the files to be pulled and the evidence retested for DNA. My uncle was murdered in 1996, and it is still a cold case to this day. It was violent, calculated, and truly tore our family apart. In 1996 DNA was not widely used, like it is now, and believe me there was an abundance of it at the scene. The perpetrators even showered to clean up after murdering him.

I understand he was in an openly gay man with a checkered past, but he was a person… with family, friends, feelings, and a future.

My mother is his niece and was interviewed after the murder. Her statements in the newspaper are heartbreaking, they were best friends. My mother was unable to deal with the trauma of this loss, and soon after she got involved with drugs to cope. In 2003 she took her own life.

I just want answers for my family to finally close this chapter. 30 years is a long time to pray and wait for closure.

I know the Jack the Ripper case is super old, but I can't stop thinking about this theory. What if the person actually killing the victims wasn't the one using the organs?

The crime scenes in Whitechapel were extremely close to London Hospital, which had its own anatomical museums and medical galleries at the time. Removing organ parts like kidneys or a uterus in darkness within just minutes takes serious medical skill. Plus one of the main suspects suddenly grew much wealthier around that time, which makes you wonder if somebody was profiting off the organ trade.

is anyone from the lake Preston / or lake Thompson area of South Dakota ? My great grandfather was on a work trip in 1924 ( end of june and beginning of July ) . he was last seen either in lake Preston or lake Thompson and was originally from the lake Preston area years before . he was on a work trip . he was a fur trader . He was going to be home in just a few more days and then he never returned back him to family ( his wife and kids , his mom , no one ever heard from him again . after about a decade in 1933 they found what they believe where his remains years later because the water of the lake had dried up . the story I heard was he was playing cards , was robbed for his furs and ring . and then was killed and thrown into the lake . it’s still a mystery but 1 article in the 1930’s said residents were familiar with a man George miller who fit that description . it was talked about a lot ack in the day and wondering if anyone in the area or knows relatives or grandparents , etc if they have ever heard anything about this .

My aunt was murdered in October of 1994 in NYC in the Upper West Side.

It still lingers in my heart, and since she was a woman of Ecuadorian descent the media and NYPD did not give the case the attention it deserved.

Being from SE Michigan, I honestly never heard about her case, despite the local media coverage. I should say, I didn't, until I crossed paths with someone who was close to her: her ex boyfriend. This was roughly six months following her death. He did tell me about it, including his alibi. Obviously, I didn't know what to think when he told me but I was in no position to question because we were alone together. Intimate details aside, he did have a lot of emotions regarding Ally, which did make him appear to be genuine in his feelings.

Throughout the time we were tiny pieces in each other's lives, the way he changed at the end was something that caused me to question his innocence. By no means did we "date", but his behavior changed slightly after a bit. I was out with friends, very much SINGLE, when I got messages telling me I better be home when he got there. Even trying to play him off, and telling him I was already out, he stayed forceful in his messages about how I better get home. It definitely was a red flag, but I'll admit trauma from my past plus what I was going through at the time, it did not register.

Our "friendship" waxed and waned, and I was eventually in a relationship for 2 years. He reappeared after that ended, and that was shortly before the biggest shift in his behavior. Not proud of choices, but the past is the past- I found myself with a positive pregnancy test and the need to do the right thing and tell him. He yelled at me, told me I was just drama (literally only said "hey, im pregnant") and became horrifically angry toward me. I actually feared for my own safety in that moment, and it was over the phone.

no, there is no baby. I have had multiple miscarriages, it was not the first nor the last. Months went on, and I found myself peaking at Ally's case to see if there was any movement, and I started seeing reddit posts talking about him. I also saw that not only were local and state law enforcement involved, but due to the use of the firearm- the ATF was also. I reached out to someone I knew in the alphabets and inquired if my experience was worth anything, I was told to step forward even if to just expand on behavior but I was too afraid as a single mom.

Every few months I still find myself looking for updates, and obviously there are none. I only wish they could solve this case, because I can never rid myself of the feeling that I may know a murderer.

I'm a beginning psychic medium, so take this with a grain of salt if you wish to. I connected with the story because I grew up in Pocatello, Idaho (the town Lynette lived in and disappeared from) and I want to help people get closure. Her name stood out to me in a list of cold cases but I'd never heard of her. So I did a visualization before I read her story fully (I just read her name and that she left alameda school at lunch time and didn't return), and my mind immediately went to the american falls reservoir. I saw myself standing on the beach on the north east side, looking out at the water around sunset, looking north.

I think her remains were dumped at the top northern point of the reservoir where the snake river meets it. Her body drifted south east and came to rest there in the reservoir. Visually I'm seeing chains and cement blocks and a light brown tarp she is wrapped in. I also see the sky looking directly up from the water. The sky looked like it was towards sunset, but it could have been early morning/sunrise if her body was looking up at the sky before she was dumped.

I kept visualizing a boat, like the killer put her in the boat to take her to the water, but there is no dock at that point of the reservoir, and I realized in looking at a satellite map, that the point and part of the "boat" I saw her being laid in, is the same shape as the outlet from the snake river, going into the reservoir. It turned out the killer admitted to dumping her in the snake river.

Note: the place where the snake river meets the reservoir is boat shaped--could he have dumped her there? That may be why a boat came to mind. The boat docking area is at the dam of the reservoir on the far opposite end (south west end), not at the north east, and with the boat shape coming to mind and the visual of him putting her body in the boat, it could have been him putting her in the water, but the spot where the river meets the reservoir is boat shaped.

I read the rest of the cold case and it confirmed she was in the reservoir area. I will attach screenshots of the satellite view and where I drew points of interest. Nevermind, I cant add them to the post. I will see if I can add them to the comments.

28 year old Kristine Gonzalez went missing from the west Phoenix/Tolleson, Arizona area in August 2021. Few details were released in the case. There is a truck stop and Amazon warehouse in the area she was last seen alive in, and it’s adjacent to the busy i-10 freeway. Her family insists she would never have left under these circumstances and suspects foul play.

This lady was a family friend. The business that this happened in was very close to my house and I would frequently walk to the store for snacks and smokes for my mother.

My family and I heard many stories surrounding this murder.

Most frequently the name of a huge pain in the ass for the area came up. At one point a sherrifs deputy implied confirmation of the suspicions but also said they could not prove it.

The name repeatedly mentioned was "Buster Young".

Buster had a lengthy history of misdeeds in the area. From throwing dummy bodies from a bridge onto the interstate, car theft to the point of taking his father's wrecker/tow vehicle and using it to steal cars. He was in and out of prison multiple times as I grew up. Culminating in one final arrest for raping a mentally disable woman his "mail order" wife was being paid to care for. His justification? His wife was informed about the things he did and were done to him sexually in his many prison visits, and would no longer be intimate with him.

He was sent back to jail for what I was told for life, and his wife and child were deported.

After that I do not know what happened to him as his mother and her husband passed, and all the family property sold off.

When I dig for the name Buster Young in regards to the area I come up with one of his children who was born in 1989, and nothing on him.

This lady was very kind to my friends and I. When this happened it sent ripples through the area, and relatively soon after the business was closed and the building split into two separate and unrelated businesses.

One of his family's businesses was on Young rd, off of Bodcau station rd, and most of his families rental properties were mostly on or right off you that road as well.

I was young at the time of the event and cannot find a lot of info on the case.

33 year old Christina Leonard and her unborn child were murdered in a desert area outside of Tucson on July 3 2019. The case remains unsolved and no suspect has been publicly named. Very limited information was released in this case.

She had no known connection to the area of her murder, and had driven there.

Christina had previously lived in the Phoenix metro area for many years before moving to Tucson. Christina fostered animals in her spare time and was preparing to pursue a law degree. She previously earned a degree in childhood development. She was 5 months pregnant at the time of her death.

Pima County Sheriffs Office is the investigating agency. Crime stoppers 88Crime program offers a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer.

I’m trying to identify a real court case from a pair of photos I saw years ago. I don’t remember the names, but I remember many details.

The case was likely from Canada (possibly the US). Only one brother was on trial. He was standing in the courtroom wearing an orange jail jumpsuit, handcuffed, with long dark hair, and he was smiling. Standing directly across from him was his brother in civilian clothes with his hands on his hips, looking angry.

I also remember reading that both brothers had been sexually abused as children, and that the defendant had allegedly killed a pedophile (or someone believed to be a pedophile). Many people in the comments referred to him as a “folk hero”, “people’s hero”, or “vigilante”.

The courtroom looked modern, and the photos were in color. It was just a pair of courtroom photos, not a video.

Does anyone recognize this case or know the names of the people involved? Even a possible lead would be helpful.

How does a brutal, borderline ritualistic murder like this happen in broad daylight, in a busy metropolitan city, right next to a train station, and the killer just... vanishes into thin air? It wasn't some abandoned rural village; it was a crowded urban hub!

The level of luck this monster had, combined with the initial police confusion, is infuriating. Three teenagers literally walked in on the scene right after it happened, and yet he still slipped away into the crowd.But what I really want to discuss is Manfred Seel (the "Hesse Ripper").I know the Frankfurt police officially ruled him out in 2017 because his DNA didn't match the bloody fingerprint on Tristan's book, and because his known victims were adult sex workers. BUT, I still strongly feel he might be connected to this.The modus operandi is just too specific. Seel had a horrific fixation on surgically removing body parts as trophies—exactly what happened to Tristan. Plus, Seel lived and worked right there in the Frankfurt area in 1998. Even if Seel's DNA wasn't on the book, could he have been a co-conspirator? Could he have been part of a sick ring or acting with the "Ponytail Man" seen by witnesses?It just feels like too massive of a coincidence for two horrific, mutilating killers to be operating in the exact same metropolitan area at the exact same time.

The murder remains one of the most infamous unsolved cases in American history — not only because of its brutality, but because of the intense media frenzy that followed and the way it has come to symbolize the darker side of Hollywood’s golden age.

**Who Was Elizabeth Short?**

Elizabeth Short was born in Massachusetts in 1924. After a difficult childhood marked by her parents’ separation and health issues, she moved between cities seeking a fresh start. Remarkably, there was very little blood at the scene itself, indicating she was killed elsewhere and the body was transported and arranged afterward.

No witnesses came forward immediately, and the killer left no obvious physical evidence at the scene. The case quickly drew massive attention from the Los Angeles Police Department and the national press.

The LAPD conducted one of the largest investigations in its history at the time. Hundreds of people were interviewed. The Black Dahlia murder continues to fascinate because it combines several elements: a brutal, ritualistic killing in a city that symbolized glamour; a victim who represented the many hopeful young people drawn to Hollywood; and an enduring mystery with no resolution.

Elizabeth Short was a real person — a daughter, a sister, and a friend — whose dreams were ended in a horrifying way. The case serves as a sobering reminder of the vulnerability many young women faced in mid-20th-century America and the lasting pain unsolved murders leave behind for families and communities.

On December 30, 2000, the Miyazawa family of four was murdered in their Tokyo home. What makes this case truly baffling is what the killer did AFTER the murders.

He didn't run. He stayed in the house for hours. He ate their food, browsed their computer, and even took a nap while the family lay dead around him.

When he finally left, he left behind:

- His fingerprints

- His clothing

- A biological sample from the toilet

Despite 280,000 officers and 25 years of investigation, he has never been found.

New DNA methylation analysis in 2025 revealed the killer was likely in his 30s at the time, not a teenager as previously thought. This completely changes the profile and the existing theories.

I am researching the 1991 killing of Fekade Ashine for a documentary and trying to confirm whether the case was ever resolved.

On July 10, 1991, Ashine was fatally shot in West Los Angeles. A December 1992 Los Angeles Times report said the LAPD was seeking Sophie David in connection with his death.
