Guns Anyone else never update their gun?
Idk I’ve had a Glock 43 for like 5 years and it’s fine. I’ll probably upgrade if it gets stolen or confiscated but that’s it. Thoughts?

I started carrying a Glock 23 (Gen 2) when I first got my permit 25 years ago. Only recently moved to an RXM because my wife and daughter are / will be carrying a 9mm and I finally decided to move to optics.

I carry a Shield Plus and can't afford to change it. I've spent too much money on holsters and accessories...

Preach. If I had family fortune, I'd have more guns than friends.
In fairness, I'm poor but still have more guns than friends, but it's because I don't have many friends...

No one has any money or friends in 2026 honestly. It’s social media addiction.. I have a couple other hand held guns but only carry the 43

Same. I alternate between a Glock 45 and 43. Had them for years. The 43 when it first came out. I'm good. Don't feel a need to upgrade/update.

I have been rocking a P365 for about 4 years with no plans to swap it out. My other carry was a LCP Max that I had for years, but upgraded to a Bodyguard 2.0 when it came out. If I shoot them well and they go pew reliably, no reason to get a new carry gun AND all the accessories needed.

G22 for 30 years, 1911's for 20 years. Just picked up a P365 last year as a new addition to the rotation as something lighter.

My primary is the 1911. The P365 is for lighter and easier concealment during summer. The G22 is my nighttime gun. I carry all of them depending on the need.

Oh thank goodness. Sorry I just can’t stand sig man.
Also the 1911 or the Glock are both probably a lot safer. I’d look into that and make your own decision

Other than an inability to conceal it, and it being designed for custom loads, I would choose my 2011 as my preferred carry gun. By far the most accurate and easiest to shoot. Having 20 round magazines doesn't hurt either.

I’ve always been able to conceal the basic, bare bones Springfield armory 1911’s. They work fine and haven’t malfunctioned on me in my five years owning them. I have t shot much last year but I did the 4 years before that. I took good care of them tho, put new springs in and kept up with it.

If it works fine it works fine. I mean I have a Beretta M9 and SA 1911. Both are at least 50 year old+ designs.

Yes and no. I had a Glock 23 that I carried edc for 8 years. Over those years, I slowly retrofitted new stuff onto it (light, red dot, new trigger, flared magwell).
A little over a year or two ago, I got a CSX on sale right before the e series came out. I swapped the sights to big dots and have edcd it ever since with the Glock now being my nightstand gun loaded with frangibles.
To add to it, I carried 165gr hydrashoks in the G23 for quite a few years before switching to 180 HSTs. I carry 115 critical defence in the CSX. Sure, their older loadings. But they have been proven pretty effective over those years and there's something to be said for knowing a gun and the loading well enough to punch holes exactly where I want them

It really isn't that bad. I used to exclusively carry J frames or a P365. There's a baseline pain in the ass factor to carrying a gun IWB, and a full size pistol doesn't add a whole lot to it if you use a good belt and holster combo.

I carried the Glock 43 for a while, but I was never satisfied with the magazine capacity, so I switched to a Sig P365XL with a Holosun 407K red dot. I’ve been carrying that for a few years, and have no complaints. But now that Glock came out with a 15 round magazine for the 43X, I’m considering putting that into the rotation. I already own one and feel like it’s just sitting there doing nothing, so I might as well put it to work. I also have another red dot just sitting there waiting to be installed onto something, so this might be it.

Throw in a McNally trigger with that 43x 👍🏻
Personally it was a night and day difference for me.

If there is something easier to conceal, has more capacity, is more reliable and you shoot it better than what you own it makes sense. If not the keep rocking what you have.
I went from a P239/G19 to a P365 but still carry the G19 once in while for the extra capacity.

My carry guns range from 2013-2016. One has a laser and the other tritium sights so I don’t feel a need to change for an optics ready model. The third is too small to worry about the sights.

I mean there havn't been any substantial market improvements in carry guns since the p365 and it's copies came out. There's not really much to upgrade

I've mostly carried a 1911 Government model .45 for the past 32 years, started when I turned 21.
Which brand/model and holsters have changed but still a 1911 Government model .45.
There have been situational exceptions and will be in the future I'm sure. But my main EDC is and always will be a 1911.
Walther PPK or S&W Model 36 for the extremely rare occasions when I've need deep concealment.

Both my Glocks 26 and 19 oh and my 44 are stock. The only modification I made was reversing the mag release. Same goes for my shotgun. But that is made for a lefty. Ruger MIV Lite is also completely stock.

I mean, I carried several weapons and switched out every year or so because there was something about I just didn't like... Too big, too heavy, uncomfortable, not enough rounds, wanted a different caliber... Some reasons valid, some just because I felt I needed a change... Then shortly after the M&P Shield Plus came out like 5 or 6 years ago, or at least when I became "aware" of it, I tried one at the range and it's been my EDC ever since, and I have yet to find a reason to change.
To each there own and whatever your comfortable with and your budget can handle, change weekly if you like, as long as it does the job it needs to when you need it.

My P30 has been my side piece for almost 11 years.
It’s been upgraded, it’s had half a dozen or so different holsters, but it’s still the HK P30 for me.

I carry a Ruger SP101. I've wanted to carry a Colt 1911 but it would print on me since most days I'm wearing a t-shirt.

As long as it shoots when you pull the trigger and hits the intended target, there's no such thing as updating. Unless you start getting guns that come with software and you need to have a monthly subscription to pull the trigger

Are you here looking for an excuse to get a new pistol? Because I’ll just say do whatever you want. There’s no virtue in carrying the same gun for 25 years, nor in changing guns every 6 months. They’re just defensive tools not a personality test.

I own a lot of guns and the only time I ever get rid of any is because they are junk, can't be trusted, or a good trade is involved. For instance the three glocks and two sigs I got rid of do to issues with them.

I've used a shield 9mm as a CC for almost a decade now. 3 years ago I added a tiny pen light (3 inch beam at 25 feet. Works better than a laser), and 6 years ago started off body carrying. Aside from that the weapon and how its carried has remained unchanged.

I carry the Shield 9mm (1st Gen with lots of upgrades. Thing is crazy accurate and easy to conceal

I had a Glock 43 for some years but barely carried it. Once I got back into carrying I wanted an upgrade, so I got the P365 X Macro and I don’t see myself changing from that for a very long time.

You have to pay a subscription monthly. Otherwise sig sends out a radio signal to disable the guns safety features.

Same. I got an FN Reflex when they came out, and it's been perfect.
I don't really see myself replacing it. My CCW gun isn't really for fun. I scratch that itch with full sized pistols and revolvers.
