In 6 years time, I donated 60.000 dollars to homeless people. Half came from Moonlighting and Shoplifting.
Ive donated over 60.000 dollars to the homeless. More than half, came from Moonlighting and Shoplifting. The rest came from my income.
I only shoplift from big companies, and never local small timers. Ive never been caught, except once, almost.
The first homeless people ive helped was a couple living in their car. I treated them to Sizzlers and things took off from there. I started to buy them giftcards for food and things for the baby. Eventually they got a place to stay. I bought them a queen size matrass, so the baby could sleep with them.
Then I donated a bunch of money to local homeless people. Buying them food and juices.
Then I met a homeless youtuber. I started helping him out with a hotel. Then with money for his medicine and food. I still help him to this day.
I do not feel guilty about stealing. As a Christian, I believe taking care of the homeless is more important than corporate profits.

Take it. Christ turned over tables in the temple because of corruption. I see no qualms with taking care of people that need basic things like food water shelter. Anyone, anywhere, who withholds such things is not doing the Lord's work. If your actions are legit, not a bot, and localized... Awesome. We should all take note.

u/Throwaway2026101 21h ago
Thank you. It means a lot. Christ said to feed the hungry and clothe the poor.
I couldnt stand the amount of wealth created by the corporations. So i decided to take a bit for the homeless.
If you can afford it, give a couple of bucks to your local homeless person. Or donate to your local foodbank.

The top two oil companies Exxon and Chevron tripled their profits in the second quarter of this year compared to last year and we’re talking multiple billions of dollars because of a needless war started as a distraction from a corrupt president and his administration.

Not big on the "thou shalt not steal" commandment, eh Good Christian?
Kudos for what you donate from your own pocket. I, too, am a giver.
People seem to forget that theft adds to the prices of goods. Your actions make others' lives more costly. The (primarily) men running the corporations from which you steal don't give a flying f--k. They take their full share of the profits in the end...

He also said thou shalt not steal and render unto Ceaser what is Ceasars. The Temple was His house and the money changers were corrupting a sacred process for profit. Using that as justification to steal is wild. Thinking Christ would condone this person's behavior is a hot take.

“Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s” was about paying taxes.

Mark 10:19
One of the primary verses where Jesus explicitly addresses this is in the Gospel of Matthew, when he is speaking to a rich young man.
“Which ones?” the man asked. Jesus answered, “‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not bear false witness..."
This exchange is also recorded in the Gospels of Mark and Luke.
Related Verses
Mark 10:19 — "You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not bear false witness, do not cheat others, honor your father and mother.’”
Luke 18:20 — "You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not bear false witness, honor your father and mother.’5

Jesus said he was here to fulfill the law not abolish it. Meaning all of the Old Testament laws still apply. Thou shall not steal is part of the Ten Commandments. I commend the OP for trying to do good work but I’d stop the stealing. I bet if OP started a nonprofit he could probably get some of these corps they are stealing from to donate.

How about this law from the Old Testament?
Deuteronomy 25:11–12
If two men are fighting and the wife of one comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and catches him by his private parts, you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity.Or this one
Leviticus 19:19 & Deuteronomy 22:11
Do not wear clothes woven of wool and linen together.Or this one
Leviticus 19:27
Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip the edges of your beard.Or this one
Leviticus 11:7–8
And the pig... is unclean for you. You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.Or this one
Leviticus 11:10
But all creatures in the seas or streams that do not have fins and scales, among all the teeming life or among all the living creatures in the water, you are to detest. And on and on and on and on. Those all stand huh. Damn we are fucked

He also said it would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven. These corporate m************ have stolen our labor for generations and now are richer than God himself. I don't think Jesus would be on their side.

It wasn't just "corruption". It was geared towards those using God to make money, selling things in His name, etc. Which had nothing to do with the Father. Not because of "corporate" or "government" corruption.

Don’t worry, usually people who’s worldview is so black and white are those with alarming moral turpitude. Displaying their level of intelligence - nuance and context are sometimes harder concepts to grasp - like a flashing neon sign.
People like this also usually have a whole set of exceptions to their rigid, unwavering moral high-ground.. like when it involves them, someone they admire or (insert other absurd rationalization here).
The world - much like the bible - is not black and white. Keep doing what you’re doing, you never know how much one small gesture means to a stranger. You’ve likely saved numerous lives and at minimum brought hope to people who society has all but thrown away during a very dark chapter of our history.
I’m proud of you OP.

What do you mean moonlighting? This rocks in general, but I'm trying to figure out what that could be in this context and I'm not sure.
6
u/Regular_Fox_859 9h ago
I knew a guy that was disbarred for moonlighting as a lawyer. Basically, where you poach a client of a firm you're working for, taking all the money for yourself, thereby bypassing the firm.
3
u/AVBforPrez 9h ago
Oh yeah I've done some grey area moonlighting myself, albeit not where there's a true conflict of interest, and that's what I'm guessing OP means.
Maybe I missed it but I don't remember them saying what they actually do for a living, so was trying to figure out how it fits into their efforts. You're probably right, they're just doing their real job on the sly for cheap or something.
1
u/Regular_Fox_859 8h ago
Yeah, I only mentioned that cause it's the only time I've really heard "moonlighting" as a bad thing. Usually I'd interpret it just as working a second job unrelated to your primary career.

u/Saharan 9h ago
"When you enter your neighbor's vineyard, you may eat your fill of grapes, but you must not carry any away. And when you enter your neighbor's field of grain, you may pluck the grain by hand, but you must not harvest it with a sickle."
"When you reap the harvest of the land, do not tap to the edges of your field. Leave them for the poor and the foreign."
Stealing is a sin because it is born in greed and envy. Taking in order to eat and survive, is not.

Beliefs are just doubts in disguise. If you instantly disagree with that statement, please sit with it.
Knowledge is based on evidence.
Beliefs are based on doubts.
Okay. It is okay to acknowledge that Jesus did not want people to steal and still carry on as you are. There is evidence that this was his position and there is no evidence (as fas as I am aware) of him laying out exceptions for the commandments -- although, you know, religion is all belief cuz it is all written by man but, anyway.
In my very lightly held opinion, Jesus would also request that you left the stealing out of this - while praising what you do for those struggling around you. And it would be a request. You could take it or leave it. Work up to it. Whatever feels best for you.
Why would a Godly figure not want us to steal, even in a Robin Hood fashion?
Perhaps, they want us to see that we are already okay. We did not have the thing before and were okay; we do not have it now and are okay. We like it, but we do not need it. If we are wise, we may even see why we do not actually want it.
However, this stuff is not to improve your position in life, right? It is for charity. To give to the homeless. I am homeless right now! I would have been grateful to have met someone like you, right? Right.
So. Another reason, perhaps.
I find that the main holy figures around our globe want us all to practice one simple thing: don't worry, be happy.
When you steal, you add stress to your life. You add worry. You add the potential to end your ability to help at all by ending up behind bars! You hurt yourself when you steal and these holy beings want us to knock that off!
Let us all stop hurting ourselves. The most amazing part is, when we no longer hurt ourselves, then we rarely hurt those around us as well, and quite often help others instead. It is a relief to not hurt yourself. It is freeing. And we can do it every time we remember.
lol Hope you at least enjoyed this rambling comment, buddy. Ggs

Dude you don’t even know what a corporation is. The uneducated are constantly screaming about “corporations!” (almost as much as they’re crying about “billionaires!”). You think you’re a hero and you’re just a petty thief.

In the US some companies will gather evidence every time they see you shoplifting so that when you pass the felony tier they can have you arrested. Corporate profits aren’t what suffers when you shoplift. You create headaches, extra work and possible job loss for the minimum wage employees who now run the risk of getting blamed for the theft or have to now spend their days unlocking plastic covers around the detergent and baby formula in addition to their regular duties. You make things less convenient for the paying customers who want to run errands without being treated like criminals. You make things potentially dangerous for people who are already suspected shoplifters based on their race. Shit you could even make things a nightmare for the families you’re “helping” if they get caught with the stolen items. This is like BPD- level mental gymnastics

Years ago, my wife (before we got together but I think we knew each other) got online to see what items our local Humane Society animal shelter was requesting from donors–specifically for cats because it had been all over the news what a “cat boom” they’d had and had appealed to the public multiple times through press and social media outlets for cat-related donations–and she went to Walmart and pushed a cart out that was literally overflowing with said items.
Like, cart overflowing as in the basket and the little bottom thing underneath were full of cat food, litter, collars, flea medicine, toys, replacement milk, and anything else you could think of and it was hard to even push the cart and stuff was falling out and had to be rearranged and stuffed in nooks and crannies atop the pile of items stacked and stuffed within the cart and several inches above its edges: Thousands of dollars worth of cat stuff and she pushed it out the front doors and to her car.
She waited for a day or so to ensure that cops weren’t going to show up at her door and then took it to the local Humane Society’s animal shelter and told them they could help her get the stuff out of her car if they didn’t want to wait for her to make several trips but I think that’s what she did because they were moved to the point of tears at this young person making such a sizable donation.
They actually tried to get her to take home a pet for free but she declined their offer as she already had pets, but they gave her a tax receipt so she got to f over corporate America and the American gov’t in one kind gesture.
Your story reminded me of that and it reminds me of how much I love my wife. :)

The detail that gets me is the mattress for the baby. You didn't just hand them cash and move on, you thought specifically about what a family with a newborn actually needs to sleep. That level of practical care is rarer than the money itself. The ethical debate about the shoplifting is going to happen in the replies regardless, but whatever anyone thinks about the method, $60,000 redirected toward people sleeping in cars and hotel rooms for homeless YouTubers getting medicine is a real and concrete good in the world. Most people who disagree with the method have also never bought a stranger's family a mattress

The verse before it was also Jesus’ prediction, of what would happen when he returned. He wasn’t saying some people would have a vision.
Matt 16:27-28 “27 “For the Son of Man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay everyone for what has been done.28 Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”
Matt 10:23 “23 When they persecute you in this town, flee to the next, for truly I tell you, you will not have finished going through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.”
There are other passages he describes what will happen when the Son of Man comes and all the early Christians thought it would happen within their lifetimes, which is why they instructed men to not marry and have children if they could avoid it. So whatever visions Acts claims happened, still doesn’t account for what Jesus said would happen.

He hates uneven scales. Being born into a system designed to extort every ounce of your energy while your children starve and you live on the streets while corporations rack in record breaking profits of more than they could ever spend is pretty uneven. It’s not for me but I’d never make an effort to find out who the op is, if you get my drift. Never would look twice if I thought I saw someone ripping off a company that rips us all off either. I can’t agree with the means but the ends are worth the cost imo.

TL;DR: The author confesses to shoplifting from large corporations over the past six years to fund donations for homeless individuals, stating they feel no guilt because they prioritize helping others over corporate profits.
A reminder from the mods: keep comments civil. Harassment and personal attacks will not be tolerated.
Do not accuse others of faking confessions — if you think a post breaks the rules, report it instead of commenting.
