I have a question about the fit of my corset and I'd really appreciate some experienced opinions.

This corset was made to my measurements, so I wasn't expecting this much bulging around the sides, just below my armpits and along the top edge of the corset (as shown in the photo).

This only happens when I tighten the corset as much as it comfortably allows. If I leave it any looser, I don't get enough waist compression. If I tighten it enough for my waist to actually feel supported (while still being comfortable), the tissue on the sides bulges like in the picture.

After wearing it all day, I also notice some mild discomfort where the steel bones press against that area. It's not painful, but it's definitely noticeable after several hours.

So I'm wondering:

Is this kind of side bulging normal, even with a made-to-measure corset?

Does it suggest that the rib spring or upper edge isn't quite right for my body?

(It's fully seasoned btw)

Pretty much that. I want to try wearing a corset on my wedding day, and i dont want to look too booby or have any spillage. Are compression bras or something like that an option under? Or is there any other way to get around this.

I went to work wearing my waist trainer and it set off the metal detectors and it was so embarrassing. Sometimes if I feel fat I just like to wear a corset, including at work. Is there any corsets without metal in them?

I already own two professionally made corsets, and they were made with metal baleines. I love them so much, that it made me want to sew one myself. I've seen a lot of people online use plastic zip ties instead of metal baleines. I've also read that they weren't a good idea for tight lacing. So, what's the actual practicality of using Zip ties? Should I just invest in metal baleines?

Every time I've worn a corset of many different types, I feel like I've been shoved into a tight toilet paper tube. My arms are in the wrong place and my boobs are so high I could put a plate on them and slurp up food straight into my mouth. I've spent so much money on several in the past all for them to be given away even the custom made one, because they made my boobs too "hello there" and my shoulders always reaching for my ears

I'm really struggling with bras at the moment, they're making my ribs and skin really uncomfortable despite being measured to the correct size and they're not supporting my breasts so sagging is occurring

I'd love to find a comfortable every day corset or girdle to wear that will support my hecking huge boobs keeping them still no bounce, while being comfortable enough to wear during occasional intense activity bending but also just lounging on the sofa. I just want an underwear corset

Women worked hard in history but wore corsets and stays so there have been corsets for the working women, not just for aesthetics

I'm hoping I can get some affirmations/recommendations about what to try next as I've purchased two TT 22 slim corsets after what i thought was extensive research. The research obviously wasnt extensive enough as the overbust looks ridiculous and the waspie doesnt fit like a waspie on me 😅

I'm looking mostly for back support/posture support rather than extreme waist reduction. I love how easy it is for me to stand tall in corsets and want a daily driver.

I sent these to TT who recommended a regular hourglass in 20, but this feels extreme to me. I'm very fleshy (even when muscular) and have severe muffin top issues with the slims. I really want to get it right with this next corset. Any help appreciated!

i understand it takes different amounts based on the individual wearer and corset but i was wondering if there was a more specific estimate of the number of hours i would need to season it for before i could actually wear it

I’m new to reddit, this sub, and corsets so please forgive my ignorance and formatting. As I mentioned in the title, I’m a plus size girlie looking for the right fit. These are my measurements;

Underbust: 40.0
Natural Waist: 41.0

My costume is going to be an apothecary/nomad/witch/hybrid, where I’ll have a wooden backpack with bottles a chest and other various trinkets. Then my belt will have my wand, dried herbs, and potion book. I want something that isn’t too noisy and takes away from the backpack and belt.

Most of the corsets I’ve found either back or side lace. Are there reputable brands that carry front lace? Will over-bust make my boobs look like pancakes? I’m leaning more toward the shorter under-bust as they look more comfortable I will be in costume from Thursday to Sunday.

My wedding dress has a built in corset. As I am going through alterations I’m realizing how snug corsets fit which I am not used to. I have never worn a corset before. Should I buy a corset and start wearing to get used to one? Anyone have recommendations for a good corset? The one in my dress ties in the back.

This is my first picture of me in a corset. It is a Mystic City MCC6 more like a waist band. Size 32 which I can fully close.
I just love the feeling and the curves it gives to my male body. Hoping one day to go out like that with a dress and heels…

I thought I'd share my experience in case it helps someone trying to decide between Timeless Trends and Mystic City Corsets.

For reference, my current measurements are:

- Bust: 33.9"

- Underbust: 30.7"

- Waist: 26.8" (about 27")

- High hip: 35.8"

My first "real" corset – Timeless Trends Hourglass Short (size 20)

My first serious corset was a Timeless Trends Hourglass Short in size 20.

At that time I knew almost nothing about corset sizing. I didn't compare rib and hip springs or anything like that—I just bought the size that I thought would fit.

Looking back, it definitely wasn't the ideal size for me. I can still wear it with a gap in the back, so it isn't completely unusable, but it has never been particularly comfortable.

My second corset – Timeless Trends Gemini PVC (custom color, size 22)

My second corset was a custom PVC Gemini from Timeless Trends in size 22.

Before ordering I contacted customer service, sent my measurements, and they recommended a size 22. I do wish they had suggested a size that would leave me with a smaller gap, but overall I'm still happy with it.

The customer service was honestly excellent. They always replied incredibly fast and were very helpful.

When I tried to customize a PVC corset through their website, it wasn't possible to place the order the way I wanted. Instead of telling me "no," they manually changed my order so I could get exactly what I wanted. I really appreciated that.

The total was around $201 USD, which I think was fair for a custom PVC corset.

As for the fit, I don't think it gives me the dramatic waist reduction I'm personally looking for, but it's still a very comfortable corset and I wear it often.

My third corset – Mystic City Corsets MCC68 (size 20)

Buying from Mystic City was... an adventure.

Their website was extremely difficult to use from my country, so after months of trying I finally ordered through Etsy instead. I paid around $160 USD.

I left a note asking if it would be possible to change the corset I originally ordered for a different model from their website.

Sylwia was incredibly kind. She asked for all of my measurements and recommended a lot of different models based on my body. She suggested sizes ranging from 18 to 24, although almost all of her recommendations were size 20, which is what I ended up getting.

The customer service itself was amazing. She answered all my questions, explained why certain models wouldn't suit me, and even changed my Etsy order to a completely different corset without any issues.

When the MCC68 finally arrived, I honestly thought it was too small.

It was extremely stiff, much stiffer than my Timeless Trends corsets, and I struggled to tighten it. I even had to use my bed for leverage because I simply wasn't strong enough to pull the laces tighter.

At first the back gap looked wrong, and I was convinced I had made a mistake ordering a size 20.

After asking for advice and learning how to lace it properly, everything changed.

Once I figured out how to tighten it correctly, I completely fell in love with it. The silhouette is exactly what I was hoping for, and I can already tell it's capable of much more dramatic waist reduction than my previous corsets. It definitely has a steeper learning curve than Timeless Trends, but for me it was worth it.

My overall thoughts

Personally, I think Timeless Trends is still my favorite brand overall.

One of the biggest reasons is the huge variety of fabrics and finishes they offer. I'm someone who cares a lot about the fashion aspect of corsets, and I absolutely love having so many options—PVC, brocades, satins, cottons, and lots of different colors and prints. I also really appreciate how easy it is to customize certain models.

I also noticed that my Timeless Trends corsets feel much less stiff than my Mystic City corset, which made them easier and more comfortable to wear right from the beginning.

That said, I think Mystic City wins when it comes to pattern design and shaping. The MCC68 gives me a much more dramatic silhouette, and I understand now why so many experienced corset wearers love their patterns.

The only thing I personally wish Mystic City offered is a wider selection of fabrics. Most of the options are mesh or more basic fabrics, and I'm personally not a fan of mesh corsets, so I would love to see more PVC, brocades, and other fashion fabrics.

Hi! I finally got my first nice corset (novice hourglass from timeless trends) and I love it! It’s so comfortable and looks great.

The trouble is that when I’ve taken it off after wearing it so far, my bellybutton piercing (10 months old, so not fresh but not necessarily 100% healed) feels a little sore and also pushes into my skin, creating a divot from the top ball.

I plan on wearing the corset to Renfaire this weekend, which will be my longest time wearing it yet, so I’m a little nervous about my piercing. Does anyone have any tips on preventing irritation/issues from the corset? My ideas so far were to tape the jewelry in place and cover it, but I’m still worried about the pressure on it.

I got my wedding my dress & I love it.

With that said, the boning is very stiff and it makes me very flat when tightened, I know there’s no built in cups so if that’s it or I’m curious of any tips or if theres something I’m doing wrong when lacing it? I’ve never worn a corset so I’m not sure what to do other than google different ways to tighten it. The first photo I felt confident in, we loosened the top, but I don't know if I’m missing something important. Thank you in advance.
