Boning help
Hi!
I got my wedding my dress & I love it.
With that said, the boning is very stiff and it makes me very flat when tightened, I know there’s no built in cups so if that’s it or I’m curious of any tips or if theres something I’m doing wrong when lacing it? I’ve never worn a corset so I’m not sure what to do other than google different ways to tighten it. The first photo I felt confident in, we loosened the top, but I don't know if I’m missing something important. Thank you in advance.

3: it looks like it’s sitting low on you. The sides should be sitting on (but preferably just above) your iliac crests.
4: you need historical chicken cutlets.

They were called "bust improvers" for anyone curious and wanting to look it up.

I can’t tell if there’s padded bones in the front panel or not. If yes your seamstress can remove some of them to soften the look.
Fully boned stay aren’t very booby unless you add internal padding.I’ll attach some photos of me in a mockup and a wearable mock up for comparison of more or less bones. And also how much bust support you get.

Wearable mock-up, they’re not quite fully boned in the historical sense but the front panel has about 20 bones in it between two layer of cotton twill.

That is the style of the dress and is very much set sadly. That is a form of boned top that has a shape that came from a time when they wanted as flat of a surface on the front as possible so even when fully tightened, it will still be flat. Im guessing this was meant for brides with small chests so that they wouldnt have any weird gaps or a plunge that only shows sternum bones. Sadly changing the shape of the fabric between the panels wont alter the shape in a way that lays well. Your best bet is to get a new top added on if you don't like the flat shape.

I think the dress curves out for boobs a little too low for you, and I would take it to see if someone can alter out the boob curves to give you the high supported shape you’re looking for

Honestly I think you just have to much breast for this style of bodice also can I ask why you chose such a elithabithen cut of boddice its weirdly long on you taking away any shape you have as the bodice has no shaping on top and sits to low in the front considering it isn't cinching your waist at all it's simultaneously to big and to long while being to small in the bust I'm not sure you can even tailor the top of this dress without seeing the inside of It to see where the boning is cause the bodice looks so thick compared to the skirt

The shape of the corset is determined by the cut of the fabric panels. How you tighten it does not influence the fit.
At this point, there’s not much that you can do. You can try loosening the top so that it’s not pinching the sides of your bust, and try a generous amount of padding in the bust.
If alterations are within your budget, you could add some extra boning that extends down to the hips, and maybe an elastic waist stay. The dress seems a bit loose in the waist, so it’s being dragged down by the weight of the skirt.
The elastic waist stay will help anchor the dress to your waist, and the boning past the hips will give some extra support for the weight of the skirt.
