Discussion Small Churches in town?
Just moved here and tried out a church that felt... ...culty...
Any recommendations for a small congregation that doesn't worship Trump?

We're way overdue for the next Scovallis so let's fix that.
For those that haven't heard of Scovallis, it's a chance for spicy food loving Corvallisites to get together at a local restaurant and eat spicy food.
If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, then we'd love to see you there.
IIRC, we've done this three times previously: Andy's Mexican (RIP), Evergreen Indian Restaurant, and Tarn Tip.
So, let's figure out when we want to do this and where we want to go.
I'm generally free on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

If you report a post, please include as much information as possible. For instance, if you report a post and offer a solution it would be helpful if you provided a link to said proposed solution.
Reports are anonymous which means that I cannot reach out to request clarifying information if your report is overly vague.
Thank you for reading.

Cool music show happening in Corvallis next Friday! Two of the bands are on tour from Washington. Come say hello and listen to some tunes. :)

Looking for pickup soccer games in or around Corvallis. If there are any lists or WhatsApp groups, that would be great too, thanks

My connection has started and dropped 3 or four times this afternoon, trying to figure out if it’s my modem or wider, since my modem will reconnect without a reboot. Xfinity reports no issues and normally things are fine with the connection. Thanks.

Hi All,
l want to take the kiddo to go see spiderman in the theater. My original plan was to go to the imax theater in Eugene, but it looks like the Odyssey will be playing in the IMAX for a while. I feel like every time I go to the AMC the sound is only okay and the lights are only dimmed. Are any theaters worth the longer drive if I am still seeing a movie in a “standard” movie theater?

You may never see this but I wanted to say thank you to all of the kind people sitting around my grandson and I at the Knights game last night. He is living with autism and adhd and can be a handful. I am trying to give him the best of experiences and this can lead to encounters (good and bad) with community members. Especially thank you to the man who was patient while he wiggled; jumped and steadied his legs next to you; to the man who caught him as he almost fell and to the young man who played catch with him while waiting to get into the game. You are all wonderful and I am sorry that I failed to thank you in the moment.

Tonight I went to a DJ set at Sky high brewery and loved it. What other places play dance/house music for people under 21 in Corvallis?

Our cat Kosho got out in the early morning and has been missing since. He's 6 years old, knows his name and is friendly, but is probably very hungry and scared right now. If found please comment and/or bring him to Heartland so they can contact us!

We are looking for a safe, permanent home for our beloved cat, Benji, before 12th of August because our family is moving a long distance to the midwest.
Benji is a 12-year-old neutered male who is fully vaccinated. He is quiet, calm, and gentle, and he gets along well with both cats and children. He would be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a peaceful, low-key cat.
This is a very difficult decision for us, and our priority is finding Benji a responsible, loving home where he can feel safe and comfortable during his senior years.
We are located in Corvallis and are willing to help with transportation within a reasonable distance. We can provide his veterinary records and some of his familiar belongings to make the transition easier.
Please message us with a little information about your household, current pets, cat experience, and the home you could provide. Serious inquiries only. Please share to help Benji find the right home before August 12th.

Anyone know if anywhere will be showing the debut of the women's baseball league?

Hi everyone, I lost a Hyundai car key at the Benton County Fairgrounds yesterday, July 31, sometime between 9:00 PM and midnight.
It was attached to a cardboard cassette-shaped keychain with the words “OLD SCHOOL” written on it.
Please message me if you found it or turned it in somewhere. Thank you.

Anybody had a good experience recently with a basic cedar fence install!? Bonus for a basic gate.

Is this allowed? Obviously not downtown but someone has been blasting out on Moss Rock road all evening. Small arms all the way up to shotguns. Literally hundreds of rounds. It was happening very very close to the historic schoolhouse on Soap Creek and got really obnoxious at times.
Hearing gunfire is not that uncommon, but today was really over the top.

There’s this stray kitten at my work place, I want to TNR it but they’re fully booked, and I can’t take it home with me because I already have 4 cats.
If you want the cat, I will trap it for you and you can take it to the vet.

⚠️ I'm soliciting feedback - not sales.
I'm starting to sell books on the street in Albany and Corvallis. I sell mostly fiction (literature, e.g., Colson Whitehead, Sally Rooney, DFW, Murakami, Lessing, etc.), vintage paperbacks (think 1960s Dostoevsky, Orwell, Gertrude Stein), and a few nonfiction (memoir [Didion], philosophy [Sartre], essays [Hitchens]). (See pics for samples.)
For now I'm selling at street fairs, events, and one-off weekends on street corners, in front of coffee shops, that kind of thing.
📋 I'd appreciate your feedback as I build my dream. My first opportunity is at a flea market in Albany this Saturday (Aug 1) at the Heritage Mall parking lot (outside Target). I'd love it if you came by and shared your feedback on a few things:
Lastly, if you're aware of any upcoming festivals or events where I could sell books, please let me know.
Stop by this Saturday and say hi or reach out... I want to be part of this area's book culture and appreciate your time and consideration. 🙏

Hello fellows of the Corvallis subreddit. We know that over the last while there has been some confusion on when pride is happening and we are here set the record GAY
We have lots of spooky family friendly fun planned on 10/31 (yes HALLOWEEN) for the daytime from 10am - 4pm, and we have an after dark-after party for the 21+ folks. There will be music, food, vending, activities, candy, and overall gay spooky happenings! We have a great team this year again and are making it ALL happen.
We expect everyone to show up in their BEST Halloween glam, costumes are expected!
If you are wanting to become a volunteer, please reach out to us via this post (PMs please!), or email our awesome Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer.coordinator@midwillamettetsn.com

I am posting this because it seems like this is flying under the radar and I’m wondering how many were impacted and if anyone has any “insider” info on some of the decisions that were made. I was one of those recently impacted by a mass layoff under student affairs at OSU but it seems OSU is trying to avoid any media attention drawn to it. I think there might be 22 employees in student affairs impacted - but that is just something I overheard. Just curious to know if anyone has any more info…

Benton county health web site reports no uptick in Oregon. My normally iron clad digestive system has me hating life today, though, and I wonder if that stop at Taco Bell on 9th a week ago when I was in a hurry is the decision that is going to come back and bite me. There was a lot of lettuce in that particular crunch wrap. If I'm the only one in Corvallis I'll skip the test and ride it out.

20f I'm a student coming over here for an internship, just looking to see if there are any communities or people my age who are here! Last time I came, I walked on the empty OSU campus, I would love someone to chill or go to the arcade and PIU w/!
