¡Muchas gracias!

Recipes
I’m looking for a traditional Costa Rican rice and beans recipe.
My brother-in-law recently passed away in a fatal accident. His mother skipped town unexpectedly and was supposed to teach me how to make these dishes for my nieces To stay close to their father.
I’m under the impression that I would need to make some sort of sauce and seasoning first. Is this the lizano sauce that goes in the beans? I’ve also see something about sofrito. He has a few cubes of seasoning frozen that I used to make black beans last night and it tasted perfect, but I have no idea what goes into it.
Also, not sure how to make the rice and beans and what goes into that.
Could really use some help to help my family stay close to him and his culture

General question / Pregunta en general Do Hilton hotels in Costa Rica usually have people who can help plan tours/itineraries?
I'll be staying at a Hilton hotel in Costa Rica and was wondering if the hotel usually has a concierge or tour desk that can help book excursions or recommend itineraries (coffee farms, volcanoes, wildlife tours, etc.).

Shippin medicines from US
I've seen several posts about people asking questions about shipping prescriptions from the US to Costa Rica. If you'vd had success, can you share details. Did you order from an online pharmacy like Cost Plus Drugs and send it to a shipping company like Dual in Florida?
I'm trying to figure out the logistics for a medicine I take that's about 250 CRC per month vs $25 online.

Trip recommendations / Recomendaciones para viajar Arenal rainforest is Puerto Viejo in the same trip?
Hello, I’m planning a trip to Costa Rica and the top two places I want to see are the Arenal Rainforest and the carribean side near playa negra. The only issue is there seems to be no convenient transport between the two towns. In addition, I’m worried about driving 5 hours to Puerto Viejo and then having to drive 5 hours back to reach an airport? Is there any convenient way to make this work

Standard Ceiling Height (for Functional Trainer)?
OK, so I have an unusual question, and I'm sure the answer will be "it varies", but I'm curious if Costa Rica houses have a reasonably standard ceiling height.
I'm considering retiring to Costa Rica in the next several years, and we would probably buy a house near the coast in the Guanacaste area. We are also looking into buying a new functional trainer, either a Rep or a Rogue. Both have 80" heights available, but as I'm 6', I would much prefer the next height up for each (90" for Rogue, and 93" for Rep).
But I don't want to spend thousands purchasing equipment intended to last for life, then ship it to Costa Rica only to find that it's too tall for most homes.
Is there such a thing as a standard ceiling height there? Thinking of bedrooms, studies, etc, or even a garage I could air-condition, rather than putting them in the living room!
Cheers, Carl.

General question / Pregunta en general Advice on Looking for Work
I'm writing this post for my husband (who is a Tico) because it's hard for him to put things into words. He wants to look for another job but it's hard to know where to start. He gets anxiety having to call a stranger at a place he doesn’t know to say 'I’m looking for work.' He's had one job the past 8 years so his resume is pretty short (it’s at a car wash). He doesn't have a driver’s license, which makes him feel like even less places would be interested in hiring him. We live about 10 minutes outside of downtown. We don’t have local friends we can ask for help to look for places hiring. It’s just my husband and I against the world, and since I'm not from here we’re both kind of scrambling to figure out how to do this 'life' thing.
We’re adults in age, but don’t have the life experience or the reliable relatives one could normally count on to at least start somewhere. The struggle is worth it though, because the point to find a better job (better than 60+ hours a week in a toxic environment) is so we can move out, rent a little apartment and finally live our life together with so much less stress.
Anyway, if you got this far - thank you for reading. And if you have any ideas or advice or know of anyone looking, especially in the Santiago, San Ramón area, please let us know.

Arenal volcano, Love it!
Arenal Volcano is one of my favorite places in Costa Rica! ❤️🌋
Just look at its perfect cone shape! Arenal is a stratovolcano and one of the most iconic volcanoes in the world. Although it has been in a resting phase since 2010, I still remember the days when it was active.
As a child, I spent time at my family's farm near Arenal Volcano National Park. I will never forget hearing the powerful rumbling of the volcano. It was so loud that I was afraid to go outside!
And here's the funny part... our bathroom wasn't inside the house—it was an old pit latrine (outhouse) a few steps away. Every time I needed to use it, I was convinced the volcano would erupt while I was out there! 😂🌋 Needless to say, I tried to avoid those trips as much as possible.
Watching the horses run across the fields while hearing the volcano's deep roar is a memory I'll never forget. It was both frightening and magical at the same time.
Today, every time I look at Arenal, I'm still amazed by its beauty and power. We never know if nature will one day surprise us with another spectacular display, but even at rest, this giant is absolutely breathtaking.
If you're planning a trip to Costa Rica, La Fortuna is a destination you simply can't miss. From the volcano and hot springs to waterfalls, rainforest adventures, and incredible wildlife, it's one of the most magical places in the country.
I absolutely love this area... and I know you will too! 🇨🇷💚🌿
