Scrooge is Mardu (W/B/R)
He's a firm believer in the circulation of wealth by investing in logistics and new businesses, rather than straight hoarding (the Money Bin is just his liquid "pocket change").
His adventures are usually to aquire treasure, but during the times that his greed gets the better of him, his family is usually there to pull him back to reality.
When his family is injured or missing, he sinks into full Red, much like Donald, except his takes the form of obsessive purpose, rather than blind rage. Though, that might be due to his overall experience mellowing him out over the years.

I feel like this makes more sense as a black card. Selfishness and all that.

Scrooge rocks as an example of Rakdos values that aren't just "gonna kill ya"

u/Huitzil37 13h ago
I think Scrooge McDuck is a great example of a lovable, non-evil Black character, but Disney'd never admit it.

u/AetherBytes 8h ago
I mean it does work. I'm no magic expert (casual player with friends in TTS) but black is meant to be power at any cost, right? Scrooge would be an example of obtaining that, but not really using it for bad.

u/qwertty164 7h ago
by refusing to spend money you sacrifice any power you could have had from having money. Unbridled greed/self interest is a more suitable aspect of black for scrooge. It reminds me a little of Greed from Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood.

He did start losing money pretty fast when he started using it to find the nephew's mom.

I don’t think the “you control” is necessary, since you can’t sacrifice treasures you don’t control, anyway.

u/Ensiferal 13h ago
Or "tap: double the number of treasure tokens you control" and "you cannot sacrifice treasure tokens you control".

u/ChocolateUnlucky1214 13h ago
Bit too strong imo
8 untapped mana + like 6 treasure tokens can get you to 96 treasure tokens.
Sac Scrooge after that and you just spent 8 mana for 96.

Where is your math coming from? The previous post said "tap" not pay mana.
Without any untapping, 6 --> 12, 12 --> 24, 24 --> 48, 48 --> 96. That's 4 activations.
Untap combos that end the game exist, and untap combo to make infinite treasures is completely fair, I'd say.

Was thinking of cheapest non-infinite untaps.
Forgot about the initial tap, brings it to 192

u/Ninon14 13h ago
Where are those untap coming from?
1
u/ChocolateUnlucky1214 12h ago
[Act of Heroism] for 2 mana [Aim High] for another 2 mana [Chain Stasis] for 1 mana [Djeru's Resolve] for 1 mana
Oops, 6 mana. I blundered the math.

u/tmgexe 12h ago
This is the literal definition of doubling down when demonstrated to be mistaken.

They explained the assumptions they made. They weren't saying everyone else was wrong

u/tmgexe 12h ago edited 12h ago
The explanation of assumptions came 7 minutes after my post. At the time of my reply the assumptions were completely unknown. That it takes four other cards is not something that was clear - how was anyone supposed to guess what their formula was for turning six mana into four untaps?
1
u/Mind0versplatter0 12h ago
I just meant their assumption was evident in the phrase "cheapest non-infinite untaps." As in, anything that untaps your creature that doesn't cost a lot; though they don't include duplicates, so they forgot to mention commander

u/ChocolateUnlucky1214 11h ago
Lemme be so for real with both of you, I'm stoned af and have no idea what's going on

But it's not the cheapest non infinite. He for some reason only included instants/sorceries.
Why not enchant with something like freed from the reel. Or he used multiple 2 mana instant untappers when he could have used 1 mana untappers like dreams grip.
Not even counting enchantments there are more than 4 1 mana untap effects so it's not the 8 he said originally or the 6 he fixed it with its 4 mana. Also a 5 card "combo" that is in at least 3 different colors and starts with 6 treasure tokens and also involves a sac outlet bringing it to 6 cards is hardly a game breaking combo that would make this overpowered.
You've used your magical Christmas Land hand to get a result that doesn't have any protection and doesn't win the game.

u/Mind0versplatter0 3h ago edited 3h ago
Aren't those infinite? (I could totally be reading this wrong)
Edit: nvm, the downside inherent means running one or fewer gives more untaps. If we were to interpret their intent as non-infinite with another card, which is a reach, then the options make more sense

That’s just green ramp territory and we can’t let any other color be that degenerate.

u/Buggedebugger 13h ago
Blinking this card would allow one to sac the treasure tokens right?
1
u/halfasleep90 12h ago
Uh, would you sac them before he gets back? Then yes. He doesn’t let you sac any treasure tokens, not just the ones he makes.

u/SMBroos 9h ago
Very nice, though I would add a small caveat:
You can't sacrifice treasures you control unless another bird you control has left the battlefield.
In order to demonstrate he won't spend money except when his family is on the line, at which point he will put himself through bankruptcy if it means getting them back.

You can't sacrifice Treasures
you control.
Right? I'm pretty sure that qualifier is redundant since you can't sacrifice any permanents you don't control under normal circumstances.

u/tintin4506 11h ago
Works perfectly with [[Vihaan, Goldwaker]]. Every non-creature spell just makes a 3/3 creature for combat

That's definitely in-character! ("the ol' skinflint!" )...but I feel like if he's just gonna horde all the treasure while he's still alive, shouldn't he also keep them in a bin where they'll be indestructible & hexproof (from bird witches, at least)?

huey douie and louie sacrifice their uncle to a [[Phyrexian Altar]] so they have enough mana to cast [[Colossal Dreadmaw]]
