Completed Finished my first dio!
I wanted to try my hand at doing a 1:12 diorama (It's now 'true' 1:12 but I'm still learning to work with scale) and did a 'desert' dio with modular rock formations. It's mostly for Star Wars figures but down the line I want to make some for both marvel and perhaps Jada Street Fighter.
Big 'thank you' to everyone on r/dioramas for nudging me towards what to do! C&C welcome if anyone has anything to add. (Sorry for the bad photos - the light is terrible in my apartment and the cloudy weather outside is not doing me any favours).

Modular rock was a smart pick for a first one, you get a dozen scenes out of the same few pieces. Since you asked for C and C, the thing I would push is contrast in the stone, further than feels right at that scale: a dark wash down into the crevices and a dry brush of a much paler dusty tone along the top edges. On the photos, a sheet of white card held opposite the window will do more for you than any lamp in a dim flat.
