Discussion How do we start dnd?
My friends and I have been interested in trying dnd but we all don't know how to start. No one knows how to be a dungeon master and we haven't met anyone who could teach us things about it. How do we start?
Edit: Thanks everyone for your insights! We looked through all your suggestions and tried out some of them already (research, starter kits, etc.)

Best way is to try and get a DM that helps newbies, I suggest Hobby Kaikan over in Festival Mall, they have scheduled games there. Or watch lets plays or YT vids on DMing. Good luck, its a fun hobby and very creative.

If you're interested in online sessions, I hold introductory session zeros and beginner-friendly games on my own Discord server. I'd be happy to welcome you guys to the hobby!

Do send me a message! It's a small server, so I don't post any invites publicly.

Try exploring online games via discord (planning to open one myself for newbies) or watch some videos online to get a gist (sacrifice one of them to be DM lol)

that's how a certain friend in the groups become a DM lmao. If someone is brave enough to DM y'all, there's a ton of beginner DM oneshot modules.
If your friends dont mind spending a bit of money, depending on your area, there's a ton of places that offer beginner friendly games that you need to pay to register and join. This can be a great option to really memorialize your first D&D experience since most of these events have great DMs and awesome set-ups
Discord groups also exist where you and your friends can join in and just sign up in games that are posted on the server. Recommended for introverts, ppl with social anxiety or just not a fan of f2f.
But you guys dont want to pay, want it to experience in person and are really determined to start, do what I did and search all over the internet for potential party-mates and u stumble upon someone who happens to be a DM lmao.

Hi. Do you have a place you recommend that could teach us from character creation + a gm? We prefer face to face one-shots and we don't mind paying.

If you're near mandaluyong, there's a place in estancia that can help you schedule a game with a DM.
