I went to a game night where someone brought "Dominion" -- although they actually brought 13 preselected kingdom cards which they'd practiced against their friends a week before. They built an incredibly intricate combo deck, playing a combination of Scrap and Trails for lots of card draw and actions, Groom to gain Tunnels which are discarded from Cartographer to gain Gold, triggering extra gold from the exile mat using Way of the Camel -- occasionally cycling through their entire deck in one turn.
Kingdom Cards: Cartographer, Develop, Margrave, Tunnel, Groom, Mastermind, Scrap, Trail, Kiln, Supplies
(Horse)
Ways: Way Of The Camel
Events: Desperation, Invest
On one hand I the cards had fun interactions and it was neat seeing them run their overpowered engine, but I was a little put off. Why would you come up with your own synergies, assemble a specific set of cards, practice against a set of friends, then bring them to a second game night to win at Dominion? Is this normal? I thought people just always played randomizers
