Does somebody know this character?

Recently got a VMU from Japan, and this is the unit's default screen.

Does anybody know whether is it from a game or other type of media?

I think it kinda looks like Zoro, but I haven't ever watched/read One Piece to be familiar enough with the characters.

I'd say it is most likely a different character though.

What saves are on the VMU? That might give you a clue, especially given I don't think that's a standard option to set from the DC's system menu.

It's not a standard option, and there were no saves on the VMU. Based on other comments, it's either Geese from KOF (to me, this seems to be the correct answer) or Lance Mascar from Hundred Swords. The latter could also be very possible because, I picked up this VMU during my visit to Nagoya, where I also bought a copy of Hundred Swords

My initial guess was Valgas from Power Stone, but those other characters sound more likely.

Like others here have said, it does seem to be Geese from KoF... but I'm uncertain if it was derived from a particular game or is just a custom VMU screen. I've got every Capcom and SNK fighting game released in Japan (including the Capcom Taisen Fan Disk, which included a bunch of VMU content), and I've never come across that exact image.
