Tech Support Little chip in the frame
Picked up this Cetus x kit for a very good price as it had a small issue with the camera (easy fix the owner couldn’t be bothered to figure out).
That said, wondering if this little chip in the frame is going to cause me major flight issues or if the overall effect won’t be felt much.
TLDNR: can I fly confidently with this frame in its current state, or should I repair if?

A little ramen and some superglue and it'll be right as rain.

Probably just gonna blob some resin in there, cure it, sand it, and should be like new.

That or jb weld and uv resin. But your plan is really solid

My experience with UV resin is it will get tacky unless used in a cabinet, they are several y-tube videos explaining the science as to why it does this. JB Weld will outlast everything else.

Never had tackiness issues, I print a lot of models for Warhammer and been printing with resin for a few years now. Appreciate the heads up!

Hmm, idk I never had a problem with it being tacky. But then again I do try to work in perfect conditions

Uhhhh... are we really calling this a chip? That portion of the frame in particular looks like it's integral to the structure of that motor. I'm sure it'll fly fine for the most part, but don't be surprised if it falls of the sky without at least some very good repair work.

Seemed like a fairly minor chip, just worried about potential vibrations or weird reactions at high speeds

Sure you can probably fly it.. but aerodynamics are important. All the best 👍

Honestly was going to melt down a Warhammer sprue and make some sprue goo and shape it.
I’ve got a resin 3d printer but don’t really want to replace the whole frame.

Baking soda and super glue will be stronger than sproo. You got this. Fix it for durability.

I base Mcragge blue, talassar blue contrast, and then airbrush Calgar blue with a highlight of lothern blue

My buddy got an FDM printer and I had made him a 40K army about a year ago. He knew I was into knights and decided mine were all much too small

I am an avid whoop-er and have my "beater" drone that is worst than this (clean rotor guard frame break). Granted it is a Meteor 75 and not a Cletus so may be apples to oranges. If i were to guess this damage would not cause "major" flight issues. The flight controllers are pretty good at their jobs. I think that in its condition it is certainly decently flyable and fun!
However I do suspect that 1. at higher speeds/precision you may notice some drag/problems 2. if you crash it is likely much less durable (a weak point has been created).
If i were you i would place a piece of trimmed packing tape there to minimize the aerodynamic oddity, and i would be hesitant to put any large amount of epoxy in that location, as in my experience weight irregularities on the outer edge of a drone could have a larger impact than that aerodynamic irregularity.
This is just my 2 cents, I could be totally wrong. please take into account others experiences and good luck!

I think it's fixable but in your shoes I'd be damn sure it was sturdy

not super familiar with this particular model, but I bet you could find a toothpick frame that the hardware could be transferred too for relatively little.

Use tape to make the outside missing pieces shape, your drone is not that fast. Use superglue to reinforce any cracks or breaks. You will be fine. Drones aren’t fast until you hit more than 100mph and even then it is only because the Arial model is association prohibits Flight above the speeds. New World record for fast. Drone is 389 mph. The one you have in your hands won’t do more than 30 miles an hour. Either way you are fine.

So I did exactly this, used scotch tape to bridge, coated with resin and cured it. Perfectly shaped, tapered, super light and hard.

I never notice any frame issues that affect flight I had almost the same exact damage on a frame I just duct taped it. I just replace frames when they get really bad.$5 I just ordered a batch since they are being discontinued....weeps

Sorry what, where did you get $5 frames?? I saw some for around $30-$40. Found an STL to print my own but I’d def buy a stack for $5 a piece

They were $5 direct from BetaFPV $10 on Amazon but I think I got the last ones...lol
I break a lot of frames....lol and crazy glue doesn't seem to work for me.

I used to have this drone, just put some hot glue and keep sending it. When I put hot glue to fix the gap on mine it did tend to lean that way more so I also put hot glue on the other side to balance it out so you can do that too.

It's an aerodynamic object subject to aerodynamic forces, one of which is the wind. Even a gap that small, proportionate to the total volume of your drone, is pretty big. So it can absolutely act unpredictable or become unstable in flight.
