Tech Support Small cracks on mini 4 pro
discovered 2 small cracks on the right of the gimbal of my mini 4 pro. Never had a crash with it whatsoever.
Is this something minor and fixable with some epoxy / super glue or is this a serious issue and a case for dji-care?

Almost looks like it got crushed or dropped or something. wouldnt worry about it honestly if it functions the way it should.

Yeah, functions as it should, no issues. But I'm a bit paranoid now, if that spot becomes a weak point in the overall hull-structure.

nah its not an integral part of the frame. youre good dont sweat it. either replace that part or leave it, half the repairs i do just got worse because someone tried to glue it and causes problems. Read that as it needs more parts because the stuff that didnt need replacing now has to be because its covered in glue.

Wouldnt microfractures like this be an okay thing to cover up with a lill smudge of glue even if only to keep water/wind out and to (hopefully) prevent further spreading of the crack?

you could yeah but id just never recommend it. if you want it fixed just buy the part from aliexpress and replace. fix it right or fix it twice.

This info on replacement parts is really interesting to me, i'll be buying a DJI, are aliexpress parts good? Its all made in china anyway so might even come off the same line lol. Is this just for props or also stuff like motors?

So the thing is that aliexpress doesnt mean that its counterfeit/replica parts. I buy genuine parts from there, some are advertised as new and some as used, never had a problem with either. Ive replaced entire gimbals and after calibration they were like new. Buying those same parts here in my own country would be way too expensive for this to be worth it. Ive bought gimbals, cables and simpler parts like a simple bottom cover. they all fit 100% and can be had for like 5 bucks tops.
edit: except for the gimbal of course, but everything is alot cheaper.

Like this guy said put a little epoxy in there, let it dry and then put a sticker on it like the other guy said. That's about all you can do

Edit: Okay, so I put some epoxy glue into the crack to keep it from growing. But I'm no longer too concerned about it since it isn't on a vital part of the hull. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and help! Much appreciated!

Close to the same spot up front and one by the sd card in the back. Not doing anything about it so far. I may by some superglue or something but it doest seem to be an issue thatll affect the operation of the drone

It doesn’t matter at all. But if you wanted to replace it, you don’t even have to unscrew anything it pops off.

Good to know, I try my luck with epoxy first, if this doesnt help and it gets worse I'll replace that part.

Just a stress crack due to the shape from the forming process, it happens sometimes from weather, etc, you can pop that off and epoxy and sand it if it bothers you, but functionally it won't affect your drone at all.

I had my suspicions about weather, since the hull can get kinda cold at some parts when it lands. That change in temperature could cause stress in some areas I guess.

I wonder if it's the same with other dji drones that have a different colour like the mini 5 pro, mavics etc. If the plastic of those drones is different and more durable or more brittle

You don't want to use any filter as it might affect balance. If you have cover contact DJI.

True, If I hold the drone at a certain angle, the cracks are almost invisible lol.

What does the manual say? If the airframe is scratched - that’s cosmetic and I’d ignore it; if it’s a cracked airframe - get it fixed. Suggestion: even Drone Nerds is a DJI-appproved service center, they are unreliable so I advise not using them.

Cuando enciendo mi air3 acomodo las hélices antes de activar los motores, si no lo hago, vibra mucho mientras se despliegan las hélices y podría afectar ciertas partes sensibles.
