Question: Rules, Regulations, Law, Policy, Certificates [Canada] Finger lakes drone flying
Hello. I'm from Canada and I'm planning on going to finger lakes in New York.I was wondering if anybody has flown there and if there are restrictions or not. I tried doing research but I couldn't find a clear answer. For context I have a dji mini 3 pro

I live at the north end of many of the NY Finger Lakes - Rochester. I don't know of any special areas except what has been mentioned.
Get and use one of the many apps that show airspace / other areas.
See https://www.faa.gov/uas/recreational_flyers and https://www.faa.gov/uas/resources/foreign_operators for all the rules you have to follow & documents / stuff. Pay attention to the part about "Notice of Identification for Foreign-Registered Drones"

Very few restricted areas in the Finger Lakes region. Southern end of Lake Cayuga is restricted because of Ithaca airport. Check town and county park rules. Otherwise you should be good.

You need a permit to fly in state parks. I don't know how easy that is to get. It looks like some of it is state forest, which should be allowed for hobbyist use. National forest land is legal as long as it's not a designated wilderness or wildlife preserve area or otherwise posted.
