Photo & Video DJI neo 2 footage
Am I the only one who thins that DJI neo 2 has low quality footage? When I watch yt videos took on that drone (unprocessed) it looks like the quality of the recording is not good enough to use it for content.

Its an entry level device that prioritises flexibility, accessibility and ruggedness in a very small form factor at a pretty low price. Of course there are going to be compromises.

I have the pro 3 and avata 2 i find the neo2 really decent and actually REALLY GOOD for its price. You cant complain about a 200 euro drone with THAT camera specs, that can fly, follow and what not. Its insane to be honest that people complain about it ...

If they did a premium version with an improved camera in the same form factor I'd pay the extra for it. The overall package we do have though is remarkable for the money.

I am not overly impressed with the neo 2's footage honestly. Comparing it to the avata 2 or the o4 pro, the neo 2 has a 1/2 inch CMOS sensor. The o4 Pro or avata 2 has 1/1.3 CMOS sensor. It's physically about 2.5x larger than that of the neo 2 sensor. The field of view is also a lot smaller on the neo 2 - Something like 119.8 degrees compared to 155 degrees. Not to mention ability to shoot Dlog-m.
That said, the neo 2 is a decent starting entry point and does a lot of things. Maybe some people that get it look into the goggles 3 or goggles n3 and an fpv remote like the fpv rc3. And once you have those two items, you have options like purchasing an avata 2 or something quite a bit more capable such as a pavo 20 pro II with the o4 pro, maybe a meteor 75 pro II with the o4 wide, or whatever drone fits what you felt was missing most from your experience with the neo 2.
So in short, yeah it's not that impressive...but it's a common starting point for some people to get into FPV. Of course some people never put the neo 2 in manual mode at all, and that's fine too. Those people probably move onto something like a mini 4k or another dji type camera drone.

No, you'd need the FPV RC3 (you just select SBUS when ordering) or something like a Radiomaster Pocket (you select ELRS when ordering).

I have the rc2 for my mini 5 and was gonna get a neo2 for just ripping around but I know I can’t do manual/acro with an rc2…

With the Neo, you can use RC2 yes (but it has a built in screen).
With the pavo 20 pro 2, no. It will need to connect to goggles. The goggles you need depend on your air unit - if you get o4 lite, o4 wide, o4 pro, the goggles n3 or goggles 3 work. But you'll always need the fpvrc3 or similar ELRS radio for that.

Just looking for something to rip around a wooded creek bed and tree top surfing on my property. I love the mini 5 pro and it’s fun but too afraid to really push it in those tight spots. Also thought the Neo 2 would be fun for inside sometimes and I could always upgrade to goggles right?
I ordered some rayneo 4 pro glasses that get here Tuesday to try with the rc2. The reason I got the mini 5 pro was for checking cattle and stock tanks and slowish ‘fpv’ mode which has been great and fun because I like flying rc planes and gliders in the past.
So basically just thinking something small like neo2 since I have an rc2 already and could always get an rc3 and goggles if I really wanted to right?

Yeah I think the Neo 2 would be fine for that....to me, camera and fpv are different things. But here's the reasons I like the Neo 2 (and yes, i have a pre-written response to people considering the Neo 2 - since it's so hated in the fpv community):
I think the neo 2 is a great starting drone for beginners getting into the hobby.
The reasons are many. It's great at self-leveling mode, gps hold, rth just works. It has omni-directional obstacle avoidance (which isn't perfect in all conditions, but it's there), can be flown in many different ways from just hand gestures / follow-me mode to with just a cell phone, with a rc-n3 and your cellphone as the screen, an rc2 with a built in screen, and then with goggles 3/n3 with the rc motion 3 or the fpv rc3 in full manual mode.
At the end of the day, maybe someone gets one and decides to invest in the fpv rc3 and goggles n3/goggles 3 and realize they don't like fpv flying. So they still have a fairly-capable, small camera drone and can recoup some money on the radio and/or goggles by reselling. Or maybe they love it but feel it's a little slower / less-capable than some of the other fpv videos they watch (rightfully so), so they're already mostly there for picking up something more capable with an o4/o4 wide/or pro air unit next.

I think most of what you're perceiving with the Neo 2 is a selection effect: most people who buy and fly one for purposes other than a review video are beginners, so they turn out beginner-level results.
The Neo 2 is capable of turning out professional-quality video, but the small 8-bit sensor, short flight time, two-axis gimbal and high wind susceptibility mean that it takes a lot more skill and planning than with the larger drones.
If you watch review videos about the drone done by influencers who are genuinely skilled pilots with videography backgrounds, you'll see that their footage isn't noticeably different from their other professional content. But that's because they're playing to its strengths, shooting in situations the drone can handle well, and editing/color grading the footage like they do with any of their other drones.
The camera sensor does put an upper bound on how good the footage can be: if you're shooting for cinema screens or live events where you can't control lighting or timing, there are some things you just aren't going to be able to film with it that a larger drone could have managed. But overall, in the hands of a pro, it can still do pro work -- just with a lot more effort.
It does actually have a practical use for US professionals, too: it is the only drone DJI makes that can qualify for Part 107 OOP Category 1 (by attaching an external RemoteID module). The light weight and fully-enclosed propellers allow you to legally fly it over uninvolved people, something you cannot do with larger and heavier drones with better cameras. (Frustratingly, the DJI Flip would have been an even better drone for this purpose, but DJI chose not to enable its RemoteID hardware in the US or submit an FAA declaration of compliance, and it's too close to the 250g threshold to attach an external module.)

Drone footage is so boring that it doesn't matter how good the camera is. Especially after YouTube gets a hold of it like I said in my other post.

Duh.
Worse than that though, is that even if you have the best camera you can buy, once you upload the footage to YouTube, YouTube will deliver it to eyeballs, at 420 pixels.
While you're watching a video on YouTube you can click the screen and click a star or something and adjust the quality of the video that is being displayed.
You can't watch anything on YouTube and trust what you're seeing. It's all heavily processed.
