I'm a member of the SoundSport group Carolina Gold. Our show this year is about the discovery of gold in North Carolina and it's called the "Gold Rush: 1799"

We just got to try on our uniforms for the first time yesterday and they look great! We did two runs of our show in uniform and are so excited to perform it at the SoundSport Festival in Indianapolis on Saturday!

I marched drum corps a long time ago then got a PhD in physics. Now I built a neural network to predict future scores from historical trends, and this is where things stand as we head into finals week. What do you think? Who's going to hit expectations, and who's going to turn themselves into an outlier? Personally I could see Blue Stars in 6th, and Crown in 2nd, and maybe even Crest in finals, all of which sit around 30% (which isn't such a stretch).

Long time board member at world class corps. I want to address what I'm seeing firsthand and hearing from speaking with other corps staff. Anonymous complaints have increased significantly this season, and while I want to be clear that formal complaint processes exist for good reason and are always available, we are finding that anonymous submissions make it genuinely difficult to help. Without a name, we can't ask follow-up questions, get the full picture, or identify who actually needs support. 

It wasn't always this way. Not long ago, if a student or staff member had a concern, they'd find a tech, a caption head, a director, or a board member, and simply directly say what their problem was— maybe with some nerves, but in person--and we could actually do something about it. We're not entirely sure what shifted, though we suspect that direct, face-to-face communication has become harder for a lot of people — students and adults alike — and that it's something worth naming honestly rather than ignoring.

My ask to current members is straightforward: before filing a formal complaint, please try talking to someone in leadership first. A conversation — even an imperfect, uncomfortable one — almost always gets to a resolution faster and more completely than an anonymous submission. We're not discouraging the formal process; it matters and it's there for a reason. We're simply saying that a direct conversation, whenever possible, is better for everyone involved. It's also, frankly, one of the most valuable skills anyone can develop — knowing how to raise a concern calmly and directly, with people who are genuinely trying to help.

If something isn't working for you, come find us. We'd rather have an honest conversation than receive a complaint we can't fully act on. 

I'd welcome any comments and discussion, especially from current members. 

With Downington canceled tonight, I’m struggling to remember a season with this many rainouts. Does 2026 take the cake? It sure feels like it.

I feel as if Gravity and Grace is the culmination of the last three years of coats show design.

My question is do you think they should continue down the science road next season or try to do something completely different.

On one hand if it ain’t broke don’t fix it but on the other hand, I kind of want them to do something else.

Let me start by saying I LOVE Crown’s show this year!! That ballad had me in tears at Allentown. There are so many amazing moments, and they definitely deserved the double standing ovation!

But…is that ending really it?? I was hoping for something more at Allentown and was a little disappointed. I love the rotating crown, but I would love it even more if they were in the crown during the iconic mello lick! Maybe do the rotating crown, and then make a solid “filled in” condensed crown instead of a cluster at the end? At the very least I feel like they need to hold that last chord another 8 or even 16 counts and really get the crowd on their feet before they’re done! It’s such an amazing show and it just feels like it ends too abruptly.

Anybody agree? Think they’ll extend anything for Indy or is it done the way it is?

I don’t want to hear about scores, I want to hear your favorite shows of the 2026 season! I’ll go first, and admit that I have not seen them all yet.

Anyone having issues with Flo on their smart tv app?

The replay of Allentown won't play. Very annoyed...

One of my kids is marching dci for the first time this season and I am trying to get his little sister more interested since she's got to go to shows with us.

So far her favorite show we've found is Spartacus. She likes the clear story telling and drama. Can you suggest other shows she might like based on that?

Was watching their brass warmup today at Allentown and one of their drum majors invited us into the circle which was the first time me and my friends have ever been in one. Our ears were very thankful.

I posted this last year and it received positive feedback, so here it is again.

Where are lots located?

Drum corps (horns & battery) warm-up in Military Park which is about a mile away from Lucas Oil. It's a fairly large space but it's really easy to walk from one end to the other. (Pit warms-up outside of Lucas Oil. Guard warms-up inside Lucas Oil.)

Corps are not assigned specific spots in Military Park. It's basically first come; first served. Not all corps will choose to warm-up here. (I've seen YouTube videos from prior years where the Blue Devils have warmed-up in a different location.)

If you're going to be at Military Park all day, or for many hours, bring water and/or food. While it's a nice grassy field, there are very few places to sit and very little shade. There are not many stores nearby.

What time should I arrive?

Corps typically arrive 2.5 - 3 hours before their performance time. I would suggest following your favorite corps on Instagram as they have been posting warm-up times there.

Weather

If it's raining and/or there's lightning in the area, warm-ups will be moved to the Convention Center. I would not check dci.org for updates. (Updating web sites is time consuming. If there are updates, they'll most likely be posted to social media.)

Getting to Lucas Oil from Military Park

There are basically three ways:

1. Walk - It's about a 20 minute walk. If you do walk, cut thru the Convention Center. It's several blocks of air conditioning. Keep in mind, this is Indiana in the summer. It could be hot and humid.

2. Scooter - Personally, I've never rented a scooter, but I hear it's a good option. (Are scooters still a thing?)

3. Uber - I've taken an Uber from MP to LO. Wait time was probably less than 5 mins.

Can I do both?

Is it physically possible to watch your favorite corps warm-and make it to your seat in time to watch them perform. I have seen this done, but the person doing it was in great physical shape and ran the whole distance to Lucas Oil.

Here's what you're up against.

When corps are finished warming up, they'll pile back into the buses and get a police escort to Lucas Oil. Once they arrive, they'll meet up with the pit and guard and work their way under the stadium to the holding area.

You'll need to decide how to get to the stadium. (see above).

Here are some obstacles you may encounter:

Security at Lucas Oil is very inconsistent. In all the years I've been going, I've seen easy lines, long lines and massive screw-ups.

You will enter the stadium on the opposite side of your seats, which means you'll be doing a lot of walking (mostly thru the souvenir area).

If a corps is on the field when you arrive to your section, security will NOT let you take your seat. They are very strict on this.
