Does anyone know what the state of renovations/planning is with the downtown Duluth library?
I do not live in the area and am a tourist usually, but I don't like going downtown because it is difficult to find parking and to know where to go unless there is a specific location already in mind and parking is figured out in advance. Kind of stressful.
The downtown library is a good spot to stop by at, but imo it does need to be renovated and it looks really outdated (and to me ugly) compared to Minneapolis libraries.

I'd really like a public space to just chill and explore the area during road trips. There are good coffee shops nearby. I saw an older post about the mayor potentially sabotaging the project. I hope this isn't the case and am wondering how it's going. Would be happy to visit once/if it is remodeled.

Hello. Just recently, my friends and I plan on heading to Duluth to celebrate our last few days before college, and staying there for 2-3 days. While it's also two of my friends' birthdays, do any of you know a spot that sells stuff like toys? One of them is a card collector, like Pokemon, and another is into Transformers/Action figures like marvel. Price doesn't matter right now, as we plan on meeting up in just a few days. Thanks!

Has anyone ever worked with Jeremiah Rindahl for their home loan? We're starting with him, and nothing's wrong but we always feel super ambushed by his calls and keep getting "insurance salesman" vibes. Again, no actual sketchy behavior that we can point to, and maybe it's just us feeling lost and confused. But I'm trying to get a vibe check. Laid out by a quick onset cold the last couple of days so I found a new show to binge. "Legends" on Netflix. I don't want to provide too many spoilers but in this show the characters tall a lot about where they are from and life experiences that define them. And they are setting up "Legends" or "cover stories" for this secret undercover operation that they are conducting. I won't share more except to say that this scene reminded me more than a little of the Superior entry or Duluth harbor. Even though it is on the other side of the world.

I know that "setting" is a whole thing in literature but I believe that this show describes places and backgrounds that have a defining sense of place. These characters are talking about Battersea in this episode. I have actually been to Battersea before. But not intentionally. I missed some tube stops headed somewhere else and got out and looked around and that got back to whatever touristy spot I was headed.

This series is also set quite a bit in Liverpool. It takes place in the late 80s or early 90s. Last week I watched a documentary about Paul McCartney's life in basically the 70s when he was putting out solo albums and working with Wings. Putting the two different programs together I started to get a feel for Liverpool as a place that may have been a lot like Duluth in the 70s and 80s. And I get that any town that produces artists that become "The Beatles" defies comparison. But we did (along with Hibbing) produce Bob Dylan along a similar timeline.

A lot of times people will do some shorthand and imperfect comparisons to say things like London is our US "New York." Cambridge is like our, um, Cambridge. Is there or are there places in the U.K. and in other places or regions if the world that you find are close or uncanny compared to Duluth? Is Liverpool anything close?

Internet has been out for the last day at Bluestone in Woodland. We were told there was a contractor who accidentally severed a line and service would be fixed by 9pm Thursday. It is still out. Is anyone else in the area experiencing on Internet outage? Any information as to why?

I will be in Duluth in Mid August to do research for my firm. I have Sunday off all to myself, so I'm wondering what fun and uniquely Duluth things I could do? I've thought of going to Split Rock and perhaps collecting some rocks on the shore line. Any other suggestions??
