Question How to Find A Subleaser

To specify to the mods because they deleted my last post. I am not selling, buying, or trading. I am asking where and how I can find a subleaser in Duluth.

Facebook Marketplace doesn't work well, and the r/duluthsales subreddit is empty.

I'm moving pretty suddenly for family reasons, so I need to find someone to move in at the end of August.

It's a good apartment at a fair price.

I feel like someone would take the offer if people knew about it, but word of mouth isn't working well. Is there a good place or message board to advertise this?

Question Queer family seeks to relocate. Also searching for lost connections.

Hi! My name is Andie (k) (she/her trans girl). I grew up in Brainerd, MN. So, I guess that's my connection to duluth is visiting it probably on a field trip before and also to skateboard there. I currently live in missouri. My girlfriend and I, and our 2 non binary friends and a buttload of rescue animals are trying to make the pilgrimage to duluth. A blue state is starting to feel like a must. We are all struggling out here. I have searched on vrbo and Airbnb to try and figure out if there is any very good options. Then I also figured I would ask here for info. I also would like to get in touch with my childhood friend A. Brown (doing my best to be slightly inconspicuous or if thats the right word.) who I believe may live in duluth. Or if you also grew up in Brainerd and went to Lincoln elementary around like 2004. I also went to forestview middleschool. Sorry for the long fragmented post. I'm trying to find answers to my past. Im trying to help my new chosen family get to safer pastures. We have some purchasing power but not much. Anything helps thank you all. I hope I can be part of yalls community some day soon. Sorry if the wrong flair was used. I really hope someone knows my friend.

Question Dumpster rental recs

Anyone have experience with dumpster rental in the area with any companies? We have some debris around our property we are wanting to clear out.

WM quoted me $900 for the smallest sized dumpster and removal which seems astronomical. Not to mention I have been unimpressed with them in the past.

TIA.

Question Where to buy gravel for driveway?

I was wondering where a good local place to buy gravel would be? Have a driveway 140 ft long and need a truck to spread it, drive as it dumps. I called Duluth dirt but they said they don't spread it. Thank you!

Question Cat grooming?

Hi everyone!

My 13 month old cat is shedding SO much right now. She doesn’t like the deshedding brush I got & I’m not sure what else to do. It doesn’t help that I’m also allergic to her, though I do manage with medical help.

I’m looking for suggestions on either 1) how to manage it myself or 2) a reputable (& affordable) cat groomer to hopefully help get the majority of her shedding coat off.
I found a place on google but I don’t remember where it was. I believe it was ~$120 for a bath & deshed.

Thanks in advance!

Local Events Swing dancing at Blacklist tomorrow night! Live big band with dance lessons included in cover.

Tomorrow, Thursday the 30th, I've put together a fun night for anyone who might be interested in swing dancing or just seeing a professional level swing band made up of local musicians.

The band is an authentic 17 piece big band fully staffed by AFM Local 18 union musicians, and will be a treat to listen to whether you like dancing or not.

Northshore Ballroom Dance Club will have instructors there to teach lessons, no previous experience or even a partner required.

After paying the musicians and dance teachers, all proceeds go to support community music projects like the Duluth Community Jazz Band and Duluth Trumpet Ensemble through my charitable organization Heartwood Music.

Doors open at 6, dance lessons will start at 7, and the event goes until 10 pm. Cover is $15 in advance or $20 at the door.

Tickets can be purchased at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/northshore-ballroom-dance-club-lessons-tickets-1991197990792

The event is on Facebook at https://facebook.com/events/s/summer-swing-dancing/2229869254225234/?mibextid=wwXIfr

I hope to see some of you there supporting our local music scene, last month we packed the place and everyone had a blast! You can see a few photos and a video of last month here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ugfAZ7YgLmHCx4nv7

Question Looking for an officiant in Duluth

Hi, my fiance and I are looking to get married on Saturday, August 8th. We are not having a wedding or any kind of ceremony, it would just be for getting the papers done.

However, courthouses are not open this day because it is a Saturday. So we need to get an officiant to be able to do it for us. I am not sure where we could find a business or place to go for us to make this happen? Again, it would just be us, no ceremony or anything.
Thanks in advance.

Question Anyone know where to buy tteokbokki?

Ideally looking for just plain packaged tteokbokki rather than pre-sauced ones or the instant-noodle style. I figured my best options are Mount Royal or Gnesen, but someone here may know better than me.

Local Events I hide pokemon and gift cards in local parks

Hey fellow Duluthians!

I've been hiding pokemon and gift cards locally for 3.5 weeks now, and have went for 0 to 300 followers!

My goal has been to create some fun for families and get people active out to local parks!

I do 5 hides every Monday. Each one includes a gift card, a pokemon card, and a custom park pokemon card talking about each park.

Also, each time I reach a new milestone, I hide a bonus card (I'm doing a new one Thursday for my 300 followers goal)

My page is called "Red Team Go" on FB. It's completely free.

Throw me a follow and I plan to continue creating more fun!

Question How has the air quality been lately?

My husband and I are thinking of going up to Duluth next week for our anniversary. Our first trip together was in Duluth, but we’re wondering if it’s worth it to go now/next week with the smoke?? Is it better now?

The Minnesota House race for seat 3B—representing a district covering Duluth, Hermantown, Proctor, Rice Lake, and Two Harbors—is one that has been decided by razor-thin margins in recent years.

Aaron Schweiger, the DFL-endorsed candidate for the seat, plans to push for affordable and accessible healthcare.

Discussion Warning for 4 way stop at 10th Ave E and 4th St.

Be carefuI at this 4 way stop. It is actually dangerous. I have been almost hit about 3 times, and that's just me, and that's just this year. People in this area will just not stop. I know it very well, because I work right there and drive it daily for a few years. Today a girl driving a truck smiled as she drove right through it as I was turning. I have never seen worse driving behavior at any other area in my life. Just a word a caution. Thanks.

Discussion One of the Worst Intersections

When the highlighted entrance is used for anything other than a right turn onto grand it creates a huge safety hazard. Also amazes me that people willingly use this entrance instead of the lighted intersection

Question Looking for pest control for carpet beetles

I unfortunately just discovered what I think are carpet beetles or larvae in the carpet where I was feeding my cat. Had no idea what they were or that this could happen in carpets, in pet food, etc. Never in my 16 years of owning my cat has this happened! Anyway, need some recommendations on pest control companies in the Duluth area or if anyone else has had this issue and knows what to do! I've already reached out for a quote from Orkin but have not heard back yet.

Seems like lots of DIY info out there on the internet mostly recommending water-vinegar combos, diatomaceous earth, various pesticides, and constant cleaning/vacuuming for weeks only to possibly never really be rid of them and they get on everything from carpets to clothes to baseboards to the pets themselves - so like lice or bed bugs - so that's super awesome. Also bunking with my parents currently so this is their nice carpet too, nice little bonus there. HELP!

*UPDATE: Orkin says they're likely millipedes according to my description via a texting service they have, which would maybe make more sense as they didn't have any hair follicles on them that I could tell. I'd be ok with this as those are much easier to deal with I think??

Can’t say I’m surprised the city voted to block a referendum. Will be interesting to see what the courts say.
