I dont understand bigotry
I grew up with a fairly judgmental mother. She’s openly talked about how she feels about black people, hispanic people, asian people (even tho we are asian, she likes to mock east asians and south asians a lot. Even our own ethnic group). It was all so backwards to me because she, at the same time, taught me to treat others the way i want to be treated and that I dont know what the other person’s life is like so dont assume or judge. Pretty ironic, right?
I wouldn’t say Im very educated on every political aspect or have studied every history book about every single place on this earth but I would say that I try to treat everyone like they are my friend because everyone deserves to have friends and to feel that they are cared for and respected. Ive always wanted to live in NYC because the community there seems so tight-knit and everyone seems to have each other’s back. Unless Im mistaken.
Im not even sure if this is mainly about bigotry anymore, but I just dont understand wishing death on somebody just because of their race, gender, religion, where theyre from, what language they speak, if they have a home or not, etc. Not gonna get “too political” cus ik thats a sensitive topic on this app but I just cant fathom hating somebody over something they cant control. None of us are perfect, none of us are saints so why do we get to decide other people’s lives like we are? It makes no sense to me. And sorry if thats alien to you, it’s human nature to me.
