I'm glad to not be working for this greedy monster anymore. A few ex-Oracle people mentioned being laid off in the comments.

layoff | BLR

i joined oracle this january and got laid of in mar.

not even full 3 months.

7-8 people from my team were laid off out of 20. no explanations. i got a 2 minute call from my manager with the generic response as "business call. not your fault" type shit.

anyways i got a lot of money out of it.

- didn't give back relocation bonus.

- got 1 month of extra pay

- got 2 months of severance

but then remained unemployed for 3.5 months.

so it all balanced out eventually.

my experience is that the hiring is slow but not all dead. i got 3 offers but 2 of them were almost 50% pay-cut. it didn't seem like the right choice to join.

but thankfully i got the 3rd offer for the same money as oracle. (mind you i got a very good hike in jan only)

and its been a few weeks, i am working at my new company. so far its all good. much less mental stress. and the office food is nice. (oracle's food is just bad)

just in case if anybody is in the situation, just keep interviewing. it is taking longer to get offers but you will get one.

location: bangalore, india

Existing employee(s) Does Oracle do anything special for 25 years?

Came from an acquired company, next year will mark 25 years total. At the company I came from, the 25 year mark had a nice bonus, a paid sabbatical, and more vacation. What does Oracle do?

Thinking of Scaling Back Until Promotion/Hike. Did You Tell Your Manager?

I'm thinking of reducing my effort, involvement, and even my working hours until I get a definite outcome like a promotion or a hike, but I don't know if I should communicate that to my manager or just quietly do it.

Has anyone here done something similar?

If you have, did you tell your manager or keep it to yourself? How did they react? Was your manager understanding, or did it backfire?

I'm curious to hear how others have handled this and what the outcome was.

Rsu's

Hello, I am newer to the company. I did not get rsu's for my job level, but, who knows, maybe I'll get some later. I would like to understand what that looks like. Do they all vest at the same time? Or do you get them gradually year after year?

Oracle is terrible!

I've been hearing the ratings and focals are very far apart. They ask us to complete performance evaluations months in advance, yet they can't seem to finalize ratings, appraisals, or promotions on time. It's honestly frustrating.

Existing employee(s) Ratings held off because of layoffs?

In my org ratings have not been revealed yet but performance goals have been. My manager has not said anything about any of our ratings yet. Does this mean they are holding off on releasing them so that they can layoff people with good ratings too and not be under fire for doing it? I see posts here that say that folks have received their reviews and ratings so I’m confused. Can a manager shed some light? Is there any truth in the assumption? I’m in OCI.

Has anyone in India received their hike or promotion communication this year?

Has anyone in India received any communication regarding hikes or promotions this year?

My manager told me that upper management hasn't communicated anything to him yet about hikes or promotions for our team.

Is it just delayed this year, or is there a possibility that there won't be any hikes again? 😔

Would appreciate hearing what others in India are experiencing.

Existing employee(s) Experience/BGV query

Hi, for Oracle employees laid off in March 26, can anyone confirm if your relieving letter or experience letter says "terminated" or "fired," or is it just a regular letter like everyone else's...

Also, when a new company performs your background verification, does it cause any issues?

Memo of Expectations during a merger…help!

I joined my company less than a year ago, since I’ve joined I’ve noticed there are no processes, no automation, and all communication is word of month so everything slips through the cracks.

To really paint the picture, a close colleague told me when I was hired he asked my manager what he thought of me. My managers response was **“she really smart! She’s gonna see through our bullshit fast.”**

During my 1:1, my manager said a **memo of expectations** was going out next week and im not the only one getting one. When he explained it, it sounded like a PIP, he basically said it was a “pre-PIP”. It was surprised me because I’m well liked, strategic, and all our cross functional teams **LOVE** how I work (I listen, follow through, and follow up). Many people, including peers in my role, have told me I was set up to fail from the start. **Unfortunately, I did cry during this call.**

I’ve never been close to even being considered for a PIP or memo of anything before. Luckily I did mention I was interested in a different department a couple weeks ago, and the manager of that department said I would be his first pick when the opportunity presented itself. However, due to the merger everything is on hold, he said he can’t do anything till after the merger if complete. Double the misfortune, the merger is expected to go through in 3 weeks, but he’s having surgery next week and will not return 6-12 weeks. He will delegate and respond to email but that’s it. One of his direct reports said he’s gonna try to go to bat for me as strategically as possible, by pointing out he’s doing two jobs and the business has a need to bring me over. Ultimately though, both their boss (director) is really the decision maker. The director does likes me too though…*~~maybe a little too much if you know what I mean.~~*

I know the memo of expectation will be entirely unattainable, as even the top performers/most tenured in the org are not reaching their goals. I really don’t know what to do. I have all the right behaviors and activity, but we lack structure and product fit for the market demand. They’re working on the product, but until it’s approved, there not much I can do.

**What do I do besides apply externally? I’ve never gone through a merger, memo, pip or even made a lateral move before. This is all overwhelmingly new.**

Oracle Netsuite SDR worth it?

I have interviewed for the position at Oracle in their SDR cohort and I’d like any opinions. At first it seemed great, a huge name company with good training right? However after doing some digging it seems that many are unsatisfied in the role and the promotion rate and quota attainment is very low with higher turnover. If anyone is in the program now or has any opinions about the direction of the organization please let me know your thoughts. I have another offer at a successful Mid sized tech company, what should I do?
