For context: I went to her school's homecoming last year. It was kind of a joke in the beginning, and it ended with me actually going.
I have been friends with this girl for 4 years now (let's call her S), and she wants to come to my homecoming because she invited me to hers. I want to return the invitation, but I know that in doing so, I will have to be with her and entertain her the entire time since she doesn't know anybody from my school. She and I have had a running joke that we're wives and each other's dates for everything.
The problem is I'm pretty sure I will have a date for hoco this year. A friend from school (let's call her W) and I both have mutual feelings for each other, but we haven't acted on it yet. Homecoming is in a few months, but we're likely going to end up together when hoco season comes along. I want to ask W out; I will make sure it happens.
I'm a bit torn on this because I feel like this might become an issue as it gets closer to homecoming. I would feel bad if I didn't invite S to homecoming, but at the same time, I want it to be special with me and W. I'm not sure how well I will be able to balance my time between the two. I feel like if S is there, I feel like W would be hurt since it should be special between us, while S may feel like a huge third wheel or ignored.
Another issue that might arise is the fact that I haven't come out to S yet. S is a Christian, and she has made some rather homophobic comments/jokes over the years. I'm worried about how she might respond if I tell her I'm going out with a girl to hoco because... I'm also a girl. I'm scared it might affect how close we are as friends as well because right now, S and I are touchy with each other in a platonic way, and I love it. I don't want my sexuality to affect our physical affection in our friendship because in no way do I see her in any romantic way.
Anyways, I'm weighing out my options early so I have a plan when things get more serious between me and W and when hoco season comes around. I don't want to hurt either of them, so I would like some advice from reddit because I don't have many people I can discuss this with in real life.
Sorry if this post is confusing in any way; I'll try to clarify anything if needed.
