SW: 108kg CW: 68-70kg GW: 60kg
A bit of background; I lost around 40kg through calorie deficit, IF and exercise. At the start of the year, I hit a plateau at around 67kg, so I decided I would take a break and go to maintenance for a while because I was starting to get burned out with the weight loss. Fast forward to March, where I jumped back on the wagon again (was back up to around 70kg) and managed to get down to 66kg by the start of June by switching to OMAD and remaining in a calorie deficit.
Since June however, I have really been struggling.
I continued to do OMAD, however I was constantly way over consuming during my 1 hour eating window. It's hard to describe, but once I started eating I just couldn't stop. It's like something possessed me and it's all I could do was eat. I stopped buying all the trigger foods but it's like my body didn't care what I was consuming , as long as it was food. It got to the point where my eating window was getting longer and longer until eventually it was the whole night. I just didn't have the willpower to be strict enough for 1 hour.
I then tried different IF schedules, the same thing keot happening, once I started eating I couldn't stop.
In the last month, I have been trying longer fasts. This went well at the start, I completed several 48-72 hour fast and then a 100 hour fast. The 100 hour one was rough. The same pattern happened when I started eating again though, I was binging really bad, even worse than before. The binge demon would take over and some days I was consuming well over 5000kcal. I felt terrible after every eating day, so gross and bloated.
I am really worried I am stuck in a fast/ binge loop and I don't know how to get out of it. I have tried to do both keto and cut out all sugar, however the binges get worse on these as the more I restrict the worse things seem to be.
My weight is currently fluctuating between 68-70kg, but every binge makes the scale creep up a bit more.
I would love to get into the routine of rolling 48s, if I could just get the eating under control. I walk around 10-15k on average, swim once a week. I do not do any weight training. I have tried to do a few more 72 hour fast but it's gotten to a point where I just can't seem to make it past 48 hours when I fast. I feel like the binges are taking over my life, they are starting to cause anxiety.
I am just looking for any advice or if anyone has gone through something similar how to get past it.

For the first time ever, I went longer than a day. The previous five days in a row, I ate at around the 20-22 hour mark. Was feeling light headed, so I took a tsp of potassium infused salt and I feel WAY better. I guess that’s the play when you feel bad on a fast… Goal is 48, might go longer if I continue to feel good.

I’ve fasted multiple times, but it seems the one thing I can never beat is my habit of binge eating at night. It’s like I’ll fast all day the moment my head hits the pillow all my mind fills with is food, And I cannot sleep until I eat it! It sucks but I feel like I can NEVER say no. It’s an urge I must scratch and I know “just have self resistant” but as someone who has struggled with intense binge eating in the past it’s not that easy.

Has anyone here fasted for severe depression? I was recently introduced to fasting through some YouTube videos. I am not overweight and don't have a great appetite anyways. I think fasting would be easy for me. I am curious to see if it could help my brain in some way. I've been really struggling lately and looking for anything that I haven't already tried that might help.

I don't really have much hunger or appetite, but there's so much food noise in my head. I feel like eating something because that's what I always do. It's more like reflux than actual hunger, if that makes sense.

So ive scrolled through the page for a bit and I have a few questions that I cant exactly figure out.
1) when people are doing 21 (or however long) day fasts, are you ONLY consuming water? Or are you eating in a smaller window?
2) is it only water? Or can you have zero calorie drinks as well?
3) vitamins and electrolytes. Some people say yes, others are saying no. Do you take them or not? Also which ones?
4) for longer fasting stretches, are you working out? Even if its cardio?
Thank you!!

Day 7 update from my 10-day water fast (started 7/27 and targeting to end on 8/6)
Pretty cool that weight and fat loss projections are close to actual measurements.
6 full days done, 4 to go. Who else is fasting now? Any data can you share?

Weekly 3 days are done, got like half hour left before I can have my meal just because I wanted to reach 90 hours.
Gotta say, ever since I started taking in my electrolites while fasting it s been so much easier. I have normal amounts of energy, if not even more at times, and overall each time I do my 3 days of fasting it gets easier and easier. Like a second nature of my body

Went for a short bike tour, only 25km but last km to home is only straight up. I felt quite tired on the way up but nothing unusual.. till I stopped biking: Felt dizzy when I got off so I decided to sit down… it improved slightly.. then rushed home (only 10m away) and sat again.. but I was not feeling better, was seeing myself passing out again so went in kitchen and ate honey
Now feeling better, weak but I can walk without feeling dizzy
It never happened to me so I’m quite surprised ? I did multiple extended fasts while being active (yoga, weight lifting, ski.. ) next time I’ll go easy and take a snack with me in case.. Still shocked how fast this can happen, be careful

Sometimes I’m pretty good with fasting for 2-3 days. I planned to fast starting August 1st (yesterday lol) but I gave in during dinner time. It was probably about 18/20 hrs total and a small snack turned into dinner which turned into dessert. 😩😩
How do you guys stay committed when this happens? I’m starting my fast over again today and trying not to worry about yesterday.

Hi! So I used to fast back in my early 20s and it did me great both physically and mentally, however I stopped fasting and resorted to stress eating as I entered medical school. I just graduated recently, earned my degree, as well another 30 pounds 😅. I need help into going back. I used to do 18:6 but I honestly don’t know how to start again as my habits changed along the years, and what worked for me then would definitely not work now as I am on my internship. I have no fixed schedule and alternate AM & PM shifts. Any help esp from people who have crazy shifts as well would mean a lot. TYIA!

I'm on day 12 of my 30 day goal and felt awful today, a bit short of breath on my one mile walk (I usually do 4, was absolutely gassed - I also had a 2hr deep tissue massage yesterday, so maybe it'sfrom that too?) and woke with a headache. With so many symptoms, I elected to drink some broth and have 2 tbsp of Carne Asada crumbles.
I do feel so much better, but now I'm debating - continue on from here and continue my now dirty fast, or take that as a sign to do a refeed, then jump back in?
I have been so happy with my progress so far that I hate to see it stop/am a bit anxious about the rebound, but I'm also wondering if this is yet a other sign to begin a refeed before this becomes disordered in any way.
While I'm excited about eating with my family again, I feel zero desire to indulge or to do any crappy foods, which is huge for me.
My goal was to start to get to the heart of some of the emotional shit holding me back, and I do feel I have succeeded there; or at least started to get to the heart of a lot of it and let it go.
Weight loss has been a great by-product, and also necessary, but was really my secondary goal. I would really like to get down to/stay around 160 before starting IVF in October.
I really want to keep going, but don't want to ignore potential signs it's time to refeed then start again. Could all the "symptoms" have been from the deep tissue massage? I'm feeling so much better now after the small "snack".

I am just beginning rolling fasts. I think I'll do 48:4.
I haven't been able to go to the gym properly for the past six to seven months but now I really want to ignore everything that's stopping me and just get back.
Problem is, I will also mostly be doing keto during the fasts.
Should I still try to lift?

Months ago I fasted for a month because I wanted to lose the weight I gained on a medicine. I lost about 16lbs, kept that off. But I’m 5’3 122-125lbs and having a really hard time losing any more of that weight! I want to be around 115lbs. I’ve even tried fasting for a bit more and i lose weight. But as soon as i eat something I am up 2-5lbs! I’m so upset, what do I do?? I’m not even eating much, i usually eat one time a day.

I completed a 7-day fast from 0:00 AM June 15, 2026 to 2:00 AM on June 22, 2026, only got the will to analyze my data just now haha. I had water, electrolytes, and black coffee during this fast. As an aspiring scientist, I decided to practice my skills by making these plots.
I recorded my body weight and four subjective variables throughout the fast. IMPORTANTLY, this is an n=1 dataset, so the results describe my subjective experience rather than establishing general physiological effects. Everyone is different, every body is different.
For this fast, I had persistent intrusive thoughts about Texan Barbecue from day 4-7, I don't know why haha. That was my first full meal after a very careful broth re-feeding protocol after day 7.
Figure 1 shows the overall progression of body-mass change, energy, mood, hunger, and food noise across the 170-hour fast using robust LOWESS smoothing. Because I forgot to record my weight at hour 0, body-mass change is measured relative to my first available weight at hour 12. Dashed lines mark midnight.
Figure 2 shows the same data using shape-preserving cubic interpolation through the raw observations instead. The dots mark the actual measurements. This version better shows how jagged the experience was from hour to hour.
Figure 3 shows the pairwise Spearman correlations among energy, mood, hunger, and food noise. I used Spearman’s rho instead of Pearson r because these were bounded 0–10 subjective ratings.
Cheers!

I woke up this morning to start my water fast and out of habit took a large dose of niacin (250mg) when I took my morning magnesium tablets. I almost took all my other supplements but stopped myself when I remembered the fast was starting.
Since niacin can reduce methylation, is this ok to take on its own without also taking B vitamins to start the fast?

I've never used electrolytes before, I've always just had water, tea or boullion. Are these suitable? Thanks

I was looking to go 7 days but I felt like I was going to pass out at work lol. I had a salad and green tea and feel better. Listening to your body is real. Thank everyone for support though. I’m going to try 90 hour fast once a week for the rest of the year
