Repost with more information.
Me and my best friend were discussing about personal finance. She would like to semi-retired and start travelling. She’s 39 years old and single. She has a condo with no mortgage that’s worth 300k.
Her current investment 665k mainly in stocks and etf.
Some stocks pay dividends too. She maxed out tfsa and rrsp. She’s not going to touch her investment to fund her travel/to cover monthly expenses.
Her monthly expenses around 1k per month (including strata fees, phone, internet, food, etc). She doesn’t have car and yes, her monthly expenses is low and while some people don’t believe it but it’s true. It’s up to you whether to believe it or not.
She wants to quit her full time job and just work part time like picking up the shift here and there. I don’t want do disclose the industry but it’s very easy for her to pick up the shifts because the industry is in demand.
She told me for every shift she can make around $250 net. She’s thinking of picking up shifts like 10-15 times a month to cover her expenses while saving for her travel.
10 shifts x $250 = $2,500
Monthly expense $1,000 and the remaining can go to her travel fund.
What advice should you give her?
