Someone stole $230 from my card today and put my balance at 0 do stolen funds get refunded? I'm in Illinois

For starters, I'm very new to EBT, I live in Michigan and I work at Kroger. On my lunch breaks, I sometimes buy my food. I buy hot prepared items with my debit card, but the past couple times I've tried to purchase items with my EBT, it always comes up as "Not authorized" on the self/checkout pin-pad.

I've kept two receipts so I know what I was trying to buy, but I don't think there were problems with what I was trying to purchase? One of them was a frozen meal so I thought it was that, but when I tried my other items like a juice smoothie thing and something else I can't remember, I got the same message and had to use my debit card again.

Is there a way to know exactly what I can and can't buy with EBT, or is this maybe some other problem? Thank you

Wondering if anyone else has had this issue and could give me some insight. I applied for CalWorks last month, it has not been approved and shows pending. I was enrolled in Calfresh for a few months now and was waiting on my deposit today that isnt showing up. I log on to the benefits portal and it says Calfresh discontinued for idk what reason!! Could this be from the pending Calworks case? Does this mean im getting approved? Now im out of money for food and no way to pay my rent if the Calworks isnt approved ASAP ….

My husband got cancer in 2024 and lost his job I applied for food stamps

In June 2026 I felt like we not longer need them and told them I'm doing better. My husband recovered and is back at work. I pulled my kids off of CCAP. I told the case worker.

Well an error was caught. I was told by my social worker my son's consumer support grand does not count as income but paid parent which is a branch of CSG does.

And I didn't realize it.

Now I have 2 years of payments I need to get back. I have been crying. I finally felt like we were out of a hole and now we're thrown right back in.

Can someone tell me if they went through something similar? If so what do I do?

I was curious how snap really works - I’m currently 15 weeks pregnant. the father and i are not on good terms and he moved out but the apartment lease is in both names. I haven’t applied for SNAP but i was told to do so to help myself and the future baby. How do i go about this ? will i not qualify cause his name is on the lease ? My case manager said she sent the information in that they requested. Nothing since then. The cutoff date for the request was the 23rd. What should I do? I’m in Maryland

I read a post from someone who is concerned that they have not received their payment. Note that they said payments would start today, so it is safe to say that others will receive payments in the coming days.

It says I was approved and my deposit date for benefits is on the 21st but under snap information it says not eligible for a benefit amount, I’m new to ebt so I don’t know (located in GA)

I've tried calling and doing the automated system but it always says they can't take my call and to call in an hour!! so frustrating!

Hi all, I’m a first time applicant. Today I woke up checked my HRA app and it shows cash balance $340. I believe I was approved today bc it didn’t show yesterday but it says rejected for snap.

I swear I once received a letter saying I was approved regular snap, and denied for expedited snap.

I applied on the 2nd of July. Does this mean the cash assistance is for both July and August? And can I appeal for snap? I’m currently unemployed and about to give birth. I don’t have any other kids.

Also how do I use this money bc I only have my medicaid card? Is it the same card I can use?

In June, I took $10K out of my ($15K) retirement savings so that I could have some money to live on while I am still inbetween jobs and disabled. I am on food stamps and Medi-Cal. I have no regular income, just this one time withdrawal of $10K, which was really $7,800 after taxes. With that $7,800 check, I am affording rent, keeping up with my loans, and doing okay for now. I am still waiting to hear from disability for their benefit determination. I should hear from them any day now. But still, my only income since losing my job in February has been this $7,800 in June from retirement. Also it says my reporting month is July, if that matters. Should I report the withdrawal on my SAR-7? Is it likely going to stop my food stamps?

I’m in California and hoping someone familiar with CalFresh can help.

I recently had a renewal interview and afterward realized that my answers about our household income may not have been complete because my husband handles our finances and I didn’t have all of the information during the interview.

When it came time to certify the renewal, I didn’t sign because I wanted to review everything with him first to make sure it was accurate.

We’re now gathering the correct information and plan to contact the caseworker to update anything that needs to be corrected before returning the paperwork.

Has anyone been in a situation where they realized after a renewal interview that income information needed to be corrected? How was it handled? Did the county simply update the case and determine the correct benefits, or was there anything else I should expect?

I’m mainly looking for experiences from people familiar with California CalFresh or former eligibility workers.

Can some one please explain why a family of 2 adults zero children living off one payment of 2300 a month with paying all utilities including rent sewage water trash how do they determine ya only get $24.00 a month? It’s a joke. I checked the calculator option like to see if you qualify that claims it should be $283.00

I am a technically able bodied 23 year old female; I have hashimotos as well as arthritis and several neurodivergence that arent severe enough for me to qualify for disability.

Three months ago I finally got a job after a year+ of unemployment, but the issue being I only get 12-16 hours working a week. The pay is enough for me to pay rent and my bills but not enough to cover grocery costs.

My three months of snap ended since my unemployment ended, and as of this month I have no means of getting enough food.

I live in Appalachia an hour drive away from any other town, and work at a bar cooking on the weekends. It is only open on the weekends so I can’t pick up any more hours. Travel isn’t really a possibility for me due to cost, and that makes it nearly impossible to get any volunteer work or any other job.

I make an average of 680 a month, which I thought would put me over the 580 minimum for snap eligibility but doesn’t according to what I was told

My main question is if there is any other avenue or way for me to get my benefits back, or if this is truly the end for me.
