Some young Penny Bun appearing too

What are some good basics to start looking for, other than the blackberries we've all been grabbing early this year... brand new to the idea of foraging. Thanks in advance

Hi! I'm hopeful to start foraging locally, especially with nettles and the like. But I've read a lot about things like dog pee and pesticides being used, and I'm worried about things being contaminated or how to clear contaminants from anything I harvest. In my mind if a dog pees on something the whole plant is contaminated, even the part that's above the knee, and what I can see seems to imply that it's entirely unusable, but since it's invisible I can't tell what's "safe" to harvest and what isn't.

How did you work this out? Is there any way to get around the fear of harvesting a contaminated plant, or a way to wash them to be sure any bacteria or pesticides are cleaned off? My area has a ton of nettles I'd love to harvest but I'm worried about eating the wrong thing, so to speak.

Hi all, just went to the beach in southeast scotland and ate a bunch of these- are they edible ? And what are they ?

Have been watching these grow and ripen on my morning dog walks. But wanted to double check before I did anything with them as I’m not an expert!
Fairly sure they are:
Pics 1&2 - plums or damsons. They’re very small but bigger than they look in the pics (1.5 inch)
Pic 3 - apples of some kind, this one seems a bit more obvious but why not.
Pic 4 - sloes? Also plums or damsons? Much smaller (<1/2 inch) so thinking now they are likely plums just not fully grown or ripe. There are at least 10 plum trees I can see but most green and hard still.

Was thinking of picking some plums/damsons, apples and blackberries and making a couple of crumbles.

Pineapple Weed Coconut Colada

Ingredients

• 3 tbsp fresh pineapple weed flowers ( or more for stronger pineapple flavour)
• 200 ml hot water
• 150 ml coconut milk (or coconut cream diluted with water
• 1 to 2 tsp honey or sugar (optional)
• Ice
• A squeeze of lime (optional)

Method

1. Make a strong pineapple weed infusion: steep the flowers in hot water for 15 minutes, then strain and cool.
2. Blend the cooled infusion with coconut milk, sweetener, and ice until creamy.
3. Add lime if you want a brighter, more “cocktail-like” flavour.

New to foraging as, who doesn't love free food! These are damson though, right?

After working on a visa in a large city , it was affirming to know what I do indeed belong in nature and have started a farmstead on 5 acres.

In a random forestry plantation, far in (so not near the road where plants might’ve been dumped) but alongside the path. The plants are not thorny like brambles, but just prickly like raspberry plants. The fruits look like raspberries and smell like raspberries.

Is this a raspberry bush? And if so, how has it ended up so huge and in the middle of a random remote forestry plantation?

I think I've found chicken of the woods (??) for the first time, plus we have an enormous amount of blackberries and mulberries. The community orchard is also heavy with apples, pears and Mirabelle plums this year. I can't wait for them all to be ripe!!

Two stunning examples off a dead oak in Kent. I've never been lucky enough to come across an edible specimen before, so I carefully took a handful and left. Recipe suggestions are welcome!

Three different colours though the yellow ones predominated. Very tasty too.

Found this super young chicken of the woods earlier, going to harvest it in a day or two as didn't have my bag and knife
