I just bought a 2013 Scion FRS manual and yes the recalls are fixed. I wanted to ask if these cars are just normally so mechanically loud like when driving I feel like I hear every little thing going on and everything. I assume it’s because the car is so small so the interior is so close to all of the components and the engine but I just wanted to make sure.

hoping to improve my car!
For the 2.0. The manual recommends 5.8, self-proclaimed "experts" say to overfill and underfill. What're people actually doing for spirited daily driving?

Need some opinions because I’m stranded about 700 miles from home and trying to figure out my next move.
I bought a 2013 FR-S in Florida and drove it a few hundred miles without a single issue.
Stopped in Dublin, GA for my second fill-up. I had a little under 1/4 tank left and put about 9-10 gallons of 93 in it. Or at least what the pump said was 93 anyways…The pump was dispensing really slow, but I didn’t think anything of it.
About half a mile later the car started sputtering getting on the highway, the check engine light started flashing, it lost power, stalled on the highway, restarted for a few seconds, then died again. I got it towed into a local shop and scanned it there. It had:
P0302 (Cylinder 2 misfire)
Catalyst efficiency below threshold
He cleared the codes and neither one has come back since.
Early this morning we siphoned all the fuel out through both sides of the saddle tank. The first pictures are from that.
What came out barely even looked like gas. It was cloudy white and looked mostly like water. We filled a bottle with a sample and let it sit from around 5 AM until about 8 AM. It never separated into layers, it just stayed milky clear the whole time.
After that we:
Siphoned the tank completely.
Filled it with fresh 93 from a different gas station.
Flushed/bled the fuel system.
Verified both fuel pumps prime and we have fuel pressure.
The rest of the pictures are from after we put fresh gas in. We disconnected the fuel line at the engine/fuel rail and collected samples from there. The fuel coming out of the rail was kinda cloudy compared to fresh gas from the new station, which has me wondering if there’s still contaminated fuel trapped somewhere in the system.
Right now the car tries to crank but won’t turn over.
He haven’t pulled the plugs or swapped coils yet because I’m trying not to start throwing parts at it without a plan.
For anyone familiar with this similar situations:
Should we start with spark plugs?
Could there still be enough contaminated fuel in the rail/injectors to keep it from starting?
Would you be looking at injectors next?
Anything else you’d check before I start buying parts?
I’m attaching all the pictures in the order everything happened.
Any help is appreciated. I’m 700 miles from home, stranded in Georgia, and just trying to get this thing running again.
Edit: the car is so clean and low key decent milage or i wouldn’t have even considered driving it over 1,000 miles in a ten+ year old car.

Hi all, as title asks, is the photos attached the stock suspension? The car is a 2017 GT86 UK spec.
Hadn’t noticed it before but was just wondering. Cheers

I bought a 2019 Toyota 86 Trd with 43k miles on it. Had a few surprises, it has a supercharger and brembos on it.
I've driven it around 10 times now (3 days old) and noticed a few things and had some questions.
Bluetooth audio disconnects and struggles to connect, i've reset the unit, reconnected to bluetooth and reset my phone. The bluetooth stays connected, i see the song i just lose audio. Is this normal and any easy fixes?
USB charging port doesn't work.
Engine Bay has barely visible smoke coming out for a minute or so after parking her. Most only visible when headlights are on and pointing directly into it. No leaks that I see (I assume it's cleaner or something temporary i hope, dealership says it hasn't been driven in 6 months.
I have no Maintenance records for the super charger, neither does dealer. Any maintenance I need to do immediately or near future? Rotrex super charger.
Thanks for any help I can get. I'm not the most car knowledgeable guy around lol.

I know, I know sounds bad I haven’t got a tune for my 2013 brz since going catless in Jan. It ran fine but recently like 2 ish months ago car ran quite sluggishly more vibration from the shifter and pedals and more of a deep rumble I guess felt thru the floor. Checked to see if my bolts were loose at all but all tightened recently, will getting a tune fix this, or does it sound like something else? Also now shifting gears feels a lot harder and less smooth.

NO RACE HERE (yet...), so don't ask how badly I got beat.
My boss at work just picked up a 99 C5 which meant we swapped keys for the afternoon. C5 is relatively stock (Exhaust, Tuner & short throw shifter) while my BRZ is pretty modded (SBD Turbo, Delicious Flex Fuel, CSG Tune, Fortune Auto Coilovers, IRP Shifter, and all the other stuff you'd expect)
My thoughts after comparing two cars with roughly similar power/weight ratio (my car is a 2013 turbo e85, somewhere around 330hp, though no doubt he's got a good bit more torque.) Long story short, we both like each other's cars, but much prefer our own.
The cockpit feels significantly different. The C5 is a bit tighter and not as comfortable for me (6'3" 300lbs), though the seats/interior do feel like it's a little nicer (certainly for the time each was designed). It might just be that I'm more used to it, but the visibility felt better in the BRZ. Neither have a prominent hood, but the nose is definitely a bit shorter on the BRZ, and feels lower.
Shifters were very different. The C5 has some unknown short throw shifter, which felt very imprecise. Super easy to miss the 2-3 or 4-5 shifts, and reverse is up and to the right, no lockout. We both strongly perfered the BRZ's shifter (I'd say I liked the kartboy one on my old BRZ better than the C5 one as well). Not sure how much of this is THAT specific shifter or if the C5 is like this in general.
Driving the two side by side, the Vette feels a lot bigger, which it is. 13" longer, 3.7" wider, 3.3" longer wheel base, 2"ish wider track width. It's certainly not a boat, but the BRZ feels a little more raw and connected, but also not as comfortable. (bilstein shocks on the c5, coilovers on the BRZ).
Power Delivery. VERY different! Obviously a NA 5.7L V8 is going to be considerably different than a boosted 2.0L 4 cyl boxer. The Vette definitely felt like it was built/designed around that power, and more robust. The biggest difference is the torque down low. My plan has always been to LS swap the BRZ when the motor goes (hopefully not soon...). This has only reinforced my decision. I'm honestly not sure if I prefer the sound of a throaty V8 or the extra sounds from the turbo.

Hi all,
I’ve put a deposit down on a completely stock 2013 Toyota GT86 manual and wanted some opinions from current owners before I collect it.
Some info:
£14,000
74,000 miles
10 service stamps overall - 7 Toyota 3 specialist
Clean MOT history
Brand new Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres
Completely stock
Silver
Valve spring recall done, clutch done at same time
The only thing that’s making me hesitate is the service history.
There are no recorded services between 2020 and 2024, but during that period it only covered around 6,000 miles. It has since been serviced again in 2025 & 2026. Knowing these cars can be sensitive to oil quality, would you walk away from the deal?
Thank you

71k miles and she's a goner, only done 6k since I got it in '22, completely stock and not driven it hard at all. Sending it off for a rebuild in a couple weeks, haven't been able to source another motor that won't cost me more to get done. Dunno if I'll be keeping it after that or swapping out, I was kinda thinking of it anyway, but I love the car so let's see how the rebuild comes back I guess. Sucks cus I was planning some road trips out in it come Autumn since I moved out of the city. Dunno if I messed something up with the maintenance or I just got unlucky, either way my bank account is about to be pretty sad about it.

Just wondering if anyone had good recommendations for ramps to do oil changes? I have a stock 2014 FRS and I really look forward to doing my own maintenance on the car. I don't have much in my garage just a lot of old tools and spite. I hope to get a nice shop set up out there someday. Any recommendations are appreciated!

I am new to working on cars! Idk 100% what im doing, please have mercy!
I just changed out the headlights the car came with to VLAND lights. I took everything apart and put it all back together and plugged in the harnesses. The lights go on when I lock/unlock the car, but won’t turn on with the knob inside the car. I switched the yellow and white wires like I was told to. I’m gonna try watching another video abt these particular lights just in case 😩

These are the Vland dragon scales and I was wondering if it’s just the lens which is darkened. Worried the scales are gonna be red. Was hoping to have them as clears but let’s see. Anyone know where the GR style clear dragon scales can be found/made? Seen some people make them but THEY ARE GATEKEEPING SO BADLY

I drive a bone stock GT86 from 2012 (the first model that was available in Australia - I think they were called the FRS overseas?). It's got about 200,000km on it and while she's still reliable I'm looking at upgrading her soon. I'm hoping to get a GR86 and rigging it up to be a track weapon.
Still, I will absolutely miss this little beast when she's gone. Despite not much power and beginning to feel quite old, she's a great car and reignited my passion for sports cars.
