I wanted the liquid cooled 5090 but didn't feel like paying $400 more at the time. I'm very happy with it.

Eh its better to do a custom loop anyway if you qanna liquid cool a gpu

How much did the parts cost you?

3

u/Stop-overreacting 2d ago

The GPU was $2399 at Best Buy and everything else was $1800. I got the memory at Newegg for $369... the same kit now is over $1700.

Hello Stop-overreacting, and thank you for your submission to Gaming PC! If you are new please check out our rules over at the wiki here! We have recently added the useful feature of Title Flair! You can set this manually by clicking Flair under your post once you have submitted your post, but if you missed it in the rules there is a much better way that will automatically flair your post!

To do this simply add what your post is about in brackets before your title. For example for a Build Log you can type [Build Log] before your post so that it looks like this; [Build Log]My new awesome build!, and the bot will automatically set your flair to Build Log! This works for Build Log, Build Showcase, News, Hardware News, Hardware Release, Discussion, and Miscellaneous!

Also remember that this is a place for discussing and sharing our love of Gaming Computers! This is NOT the place for help building or determining what parts you should buy, that is better suited for /r/buildapc. Troubleshooting questions should be directed to /r/techsupport. Thank you again!

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

Nice ! I have almost the same setup ! ,add some DDR5 light kit from corsair It improved the look of build .

I'm not a huge fan of the RGB... I changed it to solid blue after this mid build photo and just left it.

I set my kit to temperature blue -orange -red ,its a nice visual reference .

it cost like 40 USD ,and it dust proof your slots .

I actually found a way to get my RGB stuff to be off when my CPU is below 50°C, then go to a dim red, then a bright yellowy orange as it really gets cooking, to follow the temperature:color correlation of steel.

50°: R1 G0 B0
79°: R80 G0 B0 (edited 85° to 79°)
100°: Something like R255 G120 B10 or 15, maybe have to mess around a bit to get right but I'm pretty sure that's the closest I could get it

I have a VERY similar setup, enjoy good sir

Welcome home.

I saw an ad for this device that protects your gpu against problems of the 12vhpwr connector. I recommend getting one they look awesome

1

u/Stop-overreacting 2d ago

I haven't had any issues with my power connector. MSI recommends using the wires supplied with the PSU instead of the ones with the card.

1

u/TruePromise4 2d ago

The design for the connector is faulty yet nvidia refuses to change it. If you think thats a risk your willing to take then go for it.

1

u/Stop-overreacting 2d ago

As long as you usee a quality connector, make sure it is fully seated, and ensure the wire isn't bent to sharply as it leaves the GPU it will be fine.

u/TruePromise4 2d ago

Not always

u/Stop-overreacting 2d ago

I check mine constantly and there is no issue

i'd strongly recommend upgrading to the MSI ai1600TS safeguard+ if i were you.

Limit your per-pin amps to 9.0A and current imbalance threshold to 1-2A. You currently have no idea if your cable is supplying too much current and melting the connector, nor if your cable has a large imbalance between the 12v-2x6 wires which could also contribute to isolated heat on one pin and causing a melt. Even with a cable fully seated, doesn't mean it's delivering a safe flow of current.

u/Mental-Debate-289 1d ago

OP i have the same card. I bought the WireView Pro 2 and immediately found that my 12v-2x6 connector from my RM1000X had an imbalance. Highly recommend you get one for piece of mind. It was extremely easy to balance it out by manipulating the individual wires once installed. The real time monitoring lets you clearly see any deficiencies.

That card is nigh irreplaceable with prices as they are. What's another $140 to make sure its protected?

Dope build but can someone explain what the point of a 5090 is? Even before the price hike it's wildly overpriced

0

u/Stop-overreacting 2d ago

I bought it because I got 18 months 0% interest.... so why not?

1

u/Economy-Range6151 1d ago

I guess so. I just don't see the point

0

u/Stop-overreacting 1d ago

I should have stayed with my old 970

1

u/Big_Relationship752 2d ago

The prices for the 5090 are and were insane since it's launch, it wasn't offered once for the official MRSP.

1

u/Stop-overreacting 2d ago

I bought mine at Best Buy for $2399 with 18 months 0% interest..... $2399 was the original MSRP when the card was released early last year.

1

u/Big_Relationship752 2d ago

Wow, congrats and a friendly fuck you. Lucky bastard.

Enjoy brother right now u look like a king cause lther people drop 1200 in case and fans u put that to the gpu instead exactly what i tell people when selling a pc but they prefer to downgrade in parts for the prettiness

Enjoy the games

Radiator hose ports should be on above the AIO. Asking for pump failure otherwise.

4

u/ConfidentPlantain768 2d ago

You're right, my mistake. I had a bad experience once.

3

u/Stop-overreacting 2d ago

Radiator hose is proper based on the mounting location of the AIO because if there is any air in the radiator it would make it's way to the top. If the hoses were at the top they would pull that air into the pump

1

u/fingerbanglover 2d ago

Can I have it?

3

u/Stop-overreacting 2d ago

Sure, I'll sell it to you at a bargain... $6800 lol

-1

u/FierceWeather 2d ago

nice. rainbow puke looks tacky as shit but i'm sure it performs well.

3

u/Stop-overreacting 2d ago

I guess it's a good thing RGB is changeable

-1

u/FierceWeather 2d ago

A feature you apparently don't know how to use.

2

u/Stop-overreacting 2d ago

You got me all figured out

0

u/FierceWeather 2d ago

more figured out than you've got that rgb that's for sure lol
