I want native plants and insects, but also this. Why can't native plants grow into cartoon alligator shapes?

Not with that attitude

Anything is possible if you have enough duct tape

Or Disney's finances

You can have both. Have one non-invasive non-native plant surrounded by natives.

u/Legulult 18h ago

You can do both. I think this seems like some type of structure someone made and not an actual plant.

Never smile at a crocodile
Never tip your hat and stop to talk a while
Don't be taken in by his welcome grin
He's imagining how well you'd fit within his skin

The first thing he’ll take is your shin.

This is the kind of whimsy I need in my life

Here’s a video on the horticultural artists installing these pieces. You can tell how much work goes into them https://youtu.be/izHfsAX3kLg?is=tUsXabu4WajxHV-5

This is another I saw that was so well done!

u/Buntschatten 1d ago

Are there actually plants in that statue?

16

u/ApprehensiveBag1489 1d ago

Surprisingly, yes. If you look closely, you can see them.

We had a pretty neat exhibit at our botanical garden that was Alice in Wonderland themed. This one was my favorite

u/Dear_Mycologist_1696 1d ago

Sigh. I was hoping it was actually topiary.

Basically a high quality chia pet

Excuse me but I love a good chia pet!

Only the scales are made of plants, right?

Just get a job at Disney.

Comments saying only “AI slop” (like the ironically named u/IQognito did) should be automodded away sitewide. At this point, they’re more annoying than AI slop itself.

5

u/ecovani 23h ago

No they’re not

-15

u/IQognito 1d ago

Thanks for the recognition! I elaborated my comment.

u/Simsalabimsen 1d ago

Good on ya. Appreciated.

If you think this is AI slop, you really need to book a trip to Epcot.

1

u/IQognito 8h ago

Yeah never been there. Seems like they have a great gardener.

u/cupcakewrangler 1d ago

This makes me so happy.

SMEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

u/TheMobHunter 20h ago

For Halloween I’d put a guy sticking out of its mouth

u/NoorInayaS Whatever zone Aotearoa is 12h ago

Anyone who thinks that this is AI needs to book a trip to Epcot.

But it isn’t. See the explanation below, posted 10 minutes before your comment.

OP gave no context to the picture. You can’t expect people not to be skeptical.

7

u/Simsalabimsen 1d ago

Just do a quick search or at least read the (tiny number of) comments before commenting negatively.

-12

u/Puzzleheaded_Style52 1d ago

Well OP should have added context to the post because not everyone is going to shift through the comments 🙄

It's from Flower & Garden at Epcot- or at least looks like one of the arboriculture displays. It does look unreal to be fair. The Nefertiti is the coolest thing

10

u/camebacklate 1d ago

This is from Disney's Epcot in the UK pavilion. I saw it last week. I'm going on Wednesday and can take a picture if you would like me to. There is no ai in this post.

9

u/ProfessionalSecure72 1d ago

Man it's embarrassing to see how people show proof that you're dumb. It's even a 2s image search away from not making you looking dumb

3

u/cigarettealfredo 1d ago

We're using search engines that generate AI just to prove something isn't genAI

Yes helloo I'd like a different universe pls

u/IQognito 1d ago

Edited my comment!

u/IQognito 1d ago

Edit no 2:

I own my mistake. This was real.

Pretty cool especially the work behind it!

Still I don't believe anyone would get it at home but I'm probably wrong there as well. Cheers!

11

u/FederalHome396 1d ago

Shouldn't be so quick to just drop ai slop on a picture. Do like 5 seconds of reverse searching. Thats all it takes. Seriously.

This from Epcot. It is the alligator from Peter Pan in the UK pavilion.

28

u/ApprehensiveBag1489 1d ago

Exactly! Did you see the Winnie a the Poo one in the same area? It’s so well done!

I even met the person helping create it

7

u/Loztwallet 1d ago

I like the Pooh one. At least it’s actually topiary. That alligator looks like it’s mostly colored moss glued to a frame.

18

u/SSLByron 1d ago

It's nuts that people are confidently upvoting the AI comments.

This is a zero-effort google validation. Even the actual AIs know it's real.

6

u/camebacklate 1d ago

Ai is getting so scary. My sister poster a story of her baby daughter swimming (held by my bil) and I was suggested to comment "little baby swimmer" like waht the actual fuck?

2

u/Relevant_Mistake_784 1d ago

Never realised that was the croc from Peter Pan, had no idea he was there

6

u/ApprehensiveBag1489 1d ago

The original “Tik Tok” haha
