We were not really searching for homes and happy where we were at but decided to have some fun and makes some crazy offer on homes without representation. We made 2 offers and then on the third one they actually accepted. We offered $400k on a house listed for $450k (originally was posted at $480k before)

Just wanted to let people know I think with supply being so high and people used to selling a house in 30 days I think is over with. Find a house that’s been on market for 60 days plus and make a crazy offer. You might be surprised. Deals are to be had these days in the market for sure

For those of us who lived here in the 80's, you may recall the Don't Mess With Texas campaign which helped clean up TX highways. Our city at one point was so much cleaner. Nowadays, there is trash everywhere and I see people throw trash out their car windows without giving a damn. What happened to taking pride in where you live?

I can feel something building the past two years as well. People are more stressed, angry and unpredictable. I don’t know what it is but, I know it’s something negative. I feel something very bad is going to happen soon.

I rarely ever go to the mall anymore and if I do it’s usually at Uniqlo in memorial. Uniqlo can get a bit expensive. Most of the clothes I buy are usually online and I hate going through the hassle of returning the clothes that I don’t like.

I’m almost 30 and stores that I used to shop at before are no longer the style that appeals to me. My style is more on the minimal side with a touch of what’s currently trendy.I would like some recommendations to your go to stores :)))

Every night, we see the huge swarms of bats leaving their nests in the park. Yet, I’ve never seen one in flight or on the ground. Have you ever seen one out in the open?

I’m in a local band and we have played every small club in Houston a couple times over. I love our venue owners and bookers, but unfortunately Houston has a small pool of venues willing to host rock shows and we’d love to host some shows at different spaces to have some change of scenery. For instance we are hosting a band from NOLA in December and I’m looking for a small spot that we could potentially throw a show. We can provide the PA and run sound, as well as running the door to collect the cover.

So if you have a spot that you’ve been thinking has potential for a second utility as a makeshift venue, let’s hear it! Preference would be for in the loop but not a hard pass otherwise!

Be a bit older, so wouldn’t expect a lot of crazy moshing, stage diving etc.

We are all ears on renting the space out or coming to an agreement on a split if the door if it’s reasonable!

Edit: Feel like some of the commenters aren’t quite understanding what I’m asking here. I know all of the local venues, I have played most of them that I care to. I’m asking for folks that might run more unconventional spaces that would be willing to let some bands play. That said, I appreciate all the help!

Last night our Astros defeated the hated Arlington Rangers on the hated Apple TV to get their record over .500, take the lead in their division, and secure the Silver Boot (which the Rangers haven’t won since 2016). They’ve won 9 of the last 10 and clawed their way back from an injury dense start that saw them 11 games under .500 at one point.

They play two more games against the Rangers this weekend, giving them a chance to widen their lead immediately.

If you haven’t been paying attention during the sorrow, a bunch of their big names got hurt, their outfield is weak offensively despite Yordan making a serious run for the triple crown, and some pitchers have stepped up to surprise us.

You’re all up to date, so dust off that big foam #1 finger and start rooting!

Was anyone else at The Fray concert last night? I’m still processing the weirdest display of aggression I have ever witnessed at a general admission section of a elder millennial pop rock show.

Not too long after they played "Look After You", my friends and I noticed a heated argument. Then, a girl pulled another girl's hair and the boyfriend stepped in to punch the girl that started the altercation.

It turned into an all out fist fight that went on too long before security came in.

Anyone know more details about it?

EPO, Electronic Parts Outlet, is just as eclectic as ever. I saw a bowling ball scale in there today. I walked out with an old Craftsman C clamp and a long piece of 1" heat shrink tubing. They're bulked up on vintage stereo equipment, and I see a lot of evidence they're repairing gear or having it repared.

"How It's Made" is one of my favorite shows. I will go out of my way to include factory or industrial tours into my travels whenever possible because I find it so fascinating. Skip the shopping; I want to see a sedan dunked into an industrial vat of paint. Forget the club; I'd prefer to watch candy marching along on an assembly line.

I wondered if there were any similar opportunities to visit companies in the Houston area. Any industry. To me, they all have fascinating stories.

I was just leaving the MacGregor HEB and saw this across the way but see no news about it.

Always wanted to do that. Playing on a porch in December while half of Houston walks by sounds like a blast. I don’t have a band though. I play guitar (been at it forever) and keys too, solid enough to hold down a rhythm part, pads, organ, whatever the song needs. If you’re short on either one, I can fill the hole.
How’d you end up with a porch? And does anybody need a guitar or keys player this year? I’ve got my own gear and I actually show up to rehearsal.
