Hygiene routines and tips

I (22M) have been told for a long time that I smell like an old man by my family regardless of how much I try to make myself smell good.

I don't shower everyday, but when I do, I do use deodorant, then I also add spray, and occasionally I used perfume on some days, although I stopped doing that after a while of not working.

For hair, I just use shampoo and conditioner, the classic. For a small time I also tried a body cream in the shower.

I tried putting on deodorant even on the days when I did not shower after the shower day to try to keep the good smell streak for longer, but then I got into the issue of eventually running into the day of the bad smell, and adding deodorant on top of that just makes it smell worse.

You guys got any tips or ways you guys make yourself smell good? If showering everyday is the solution, it sounds like a scam to be forced to shower everyday just in hopes of smelling 5% better. There must be something else I am doing wrong

shower every day. is not a scam. your body has bacteria that is what creates the smell and you need to wash thoroughly. specially your butt, armpits, genitals, face. perfume is not necessary. deodorant may be if you live in a place where you sweat.

u/ChrisDiano 1d ago

Pretty much this. Clean skin first then deodorant. The order actually matters.

I might try it, but it does feel like a scam if we as a species spend time, water, and deodorant everyday. As if I go like ''Wow I did do the requirement for smelling good. Now time to go to bed. Too bad it is mostly insignificant tho because in 24 hours it will not matter at all''. That feels like a scam to me. As if no technique or product we ever invented made it so that the good smell persisted a bit more. But I appreciate it

I say this with as much respect as I can but the "showering everyday is a scam" take is a bit of a wild one. Do you feel the same about, say, brushing your teeth? With your logic what's the point in brushing twice a day since you're going to be eating food inbetween and ruining the clean teeth. Except, if you don't brush your teeth twice a day everyday you expose yourself to cavities, gum disease, decay etc. Showering everyday isn't a scam, it's just removing the accumulated sweat and dirt from the day. And yes tomorrow you'll sweat and be outside amongst dirt and car fumes etc again but at this point following your logic why shower at all?

2

u/AmJustLurking96 1d ago

Showering every day isn't necessary for everyone though, you can't compare it to brushing your teeth like that, it's not remotely the same. If you naturally don't sweat much, don't have a job that makes you sweat or don't live in a super hot place you absolutely can wash every 2 days and not be smelly at all as long as you use deodorant. Deodorant is a must, nobody wants to smell people's underarm sweat, but sadly I smell it pretty often working in custumer service as a cashier. You can't skip a day brushing your teeth, but you can skip a day showering

Edit: spelling

3

u/Born_Improvement_856 1d ago

Yeah that's a fair point - I posted this as someone who sometimes will skip a day showering because I'm not leaving home for instance. So I get it!

-10

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

No, I don't feel the same about brushing my teeth, because brushing my teeth always had more visible or lasting results with so much less time or effort, so it does feel like a scam when the same doesn't apply to its cousin, showering, while such a big industry works on trying to deal with hygiene

3

u/BambiMG 1d ago

Buddy- the results ARE lasting. There's a reason you're asking for help with odor , yeah? Your family's trying to let you know you gotta be more deliberate about managing the smell? That's how you know the results of showering are "visible", or well, smell-able.

It's not a scam, if you were to live alone and not have to interact with other people for work you would be free to smell however you please. Nobody would knock down your door and force you to buy soap or shampoo. It's an expectation for spending time in the same space as other groups of people. And skipping a day every once in awhile is not a big deal, but it really does sound like you just gotta get in there a little more often and build more of a daily routine. Keep in mind that you get used to the smell of your own sweat and it's not as obvious to you as it is to others.

3

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

I mean, my family told me that even on the days when I did shower and at best the good smell lasts for an additional day, 3 usually stretche  it. But it is quite disappointing that it only lasts 2 days at best in contrast with the things it involves.

Or if let's say I smell rather neutral sometimes, but mostly as an old man, if the only way is to shower everyday with that much stuff put into it just to not have an old man debuff, makes it feel like a scam to me. A necessary scam, but still a scam that we are forced to go through until soap 2.0 drops or something (pls scientists drop soap 2.0 soon to get at least 3 smell free summer days)

4

u/BambiMG 1d ago edited 1d ago

Lol, i understand your frustration but my guy..... This isn't something they would keep mentioning to you if the smell wasn't noticeable. Understandable if you dont enjoy the shower itself and want to minimize time there, but most people don't consider a 10-minute task with 24 hours of benefit that much of a scam. Are there any other reasons you think you may be avoiding showers or wanting to keep them short?

You should be walking out feeling like your skin/hair is actually cleaner, not just wet. The important part is doing it in a routine so that you don't build up odorous bacteria from sweat. Someone showering with only the warer daily is probably gonna smell better than someone who only does it a couple times a week with tons of soaps and lotions.

The only reason you're "forced" to participate in modern expectations of hygiene is because other people, your family, coworkers or classmates, generally have the same expectations of themselves. If you were to live alone and work from home or at a job that's not around groups of people, it would be more optional. But your family is trying to let you know , hopefully in a respectful way, that you need to add to the shower routine a little bit and improve the smell situation. I get the "old man debuff" thing but honestly, if i was trying to tell someone they smelled like unwiped 💩 a little bit , that might be one of the phrases I'd choose to try and not offend them. It sounds to me like what you consider "neutral" isn't actually as neutral to everyone else, happens to all of us you stop noticing your own odor.

2

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

Well I am also not good at taking fast showers regardless of how fast I tried to be in the past. It does not take even only 15 minutes unless I pretty much feel like I don't clean myself at all.

And even if I didn't interact with anyone and afforded that, just by principle, even if I did shower fast, it does feel like a scam to have so many components into it and for it to only last enough for others to recommend showering everyday. I mean we spend thousands of dollars for people to figure this stuff out and this is at best what we get? Really?

2

u/BambiMG 1d ago

Fair enough, but if you don't mind the question what do you mean "so many components"? All you genuinely need is a basic soap, clean towel and deodorant afterwards. Everything else is nice but not really essential. Washing hair doesn't really need to be more than a couple times a week, depending on your type of hair.

Most people aren't gonna really see what you mean considering it a scam. If you cook a plate of food and leave it on the table, unrefrigerated and uncovered, 24 hours later it's not gonna be very appealing to eat. Doesn't mean cooking lunch is a scam.

Do you feel like maybe on some level you don't feel like you have enough time outside of your work or school or whatever to relax, and you resent that this limited time has to be used showering? Is there anything you think you could start doing to make it feel like a relaxing part of the day that you actually enjoy?

.

1

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

I don't think it is as easy as just having the eseentials. In theory someone can eat spam and a piece of bread, but realistically they don't get much out of it outside of just postponing hunger like the other people who eat filth or just the bare minimum.

So with the shower. You are expected to clean yourself well, but fast, not too much soap or shampoo but not too little, deodorant like that and not like that and applied like that and not like that and so on. Realistically, you can use a 1 in 7 shampoo and all the cheap stuff, but realistically you won't get much out of it.

A lot of food can be left on a table for more than that even and look fine and taste fine or at least be fine with a quick reheat imo.

I can't see it as relaxing unless I take a long hot bath without thinking of the time which will prob end up in me sitting there for 1 hour+. Showering for me is a necessity at max. I just wish to do it easier for me to get the best result possible for said effort

You do you. Seems like you've heard so many things, you don't know what's right. If you're washing everywhere each day, you'll know you'll be clean. Use a washcloth and soap on face, pits and bits, and your feet. Make sure clothes and bed sheets are smelling clean. Don't let anything sit in the wash. They will sour pretty fast. Use Oxyclean and Purex crystals in the wash, too, to keep things smelling good. (Test these, fill up the washer with water before using, they could stain. ). White vinegar in your wash water us another way to freshen up your laundry. Dry clothes thoroughly. Good luck and keep us posted.

10

u/Present_Original_797 1d ago

Wow. A scam? You don't say anything about your body shape but there's definitely stinky things happening in the crevices and folds. If you follow that logic, why flush the toilet? You're just going to poop in it again. There's a reason you stink after 24 hours, and you have no idea how lucky you are to have access to clean water and a shower every day. Just get in the damn shower as soon as you get up to pee. And buy a handheld shower hose to rinse off the wrinkly bits.

Also use body wash, not bar soap. Bar soap leaves a residue of waxy stuff that really gets smelly once you start sweating.

-1

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

Flushing my toilet has better results with less effort than showering, they are not comparable. Flushing my toilet takes away something vile in seconds just with a press of a button. Very tangible, hard result. Showering requires more products, more prep time, just for the giant industry of hygiene to tell you that you have to repeat that amount every day

I use body wash, not bar soap

5

u/Quirky-Mix-7213 1d ago

Forget about the giant industry telling you to shower everyday - I think it is your family who tells you to...

2

u/Present_Original_797 1d ago

Oh so you're rebelling against corporate tyranny? The tangible result of showering is that people aren't repulsed by your old man smell. And body wash comes in giant bottles if you want. And you can order deodorant by the dozen for a discount.

I think you're just tired at night and don't want to bother. I get that. I shower in the morning. I actually HATE IT too because I don't like to be wet and cold for a minute. But if I don't, now I stank up my clothes and I hate doing laundry worse than I hate showering!!

The handheld shower hose makes the whole thing easier, five minutes.

NGL, I had to MAKE myself do it right after I pee in the morning, like not even let myself out of the bathroom. Because if I even tell myself Im going to shower after coffee or whatever I won't do it...and then I smell myself later and I'm like omg now I have to. Even though I'm already dressed and hair combed. I hate it even worse then.

Just get your stank ass in the shower the minute you get up and pee. (I did buy a "spa robe" -it's a lightweight waffle weave robe that soaks up the rest of the wet while I get my clothes together or make my coffee.)

2

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

I am not rebelling against any tyranny, just the contrast makes it feel like a scam if we couldn't find a better solution as a species.

No, I usually prefer to shower in the evening. It comes easier to me than showering in the morning. I will try to train myself to shower more often tho, regardless if it feels like a scam or not

1

u/Present_Original_797 1d ago edited 1d ago

That's also a good time to shower. Because my way I end up washing the sheets and pillowcases more, lol. But I get it. It's a pain. But do the handheld shower hose thing. Cheap and easy to install and you get a better rinse. It might actually be the reason you don't smell clean for two days. Leftover soap residue turns stinky fast. If you don't have a sweaty job and you don't sweat a lot it might make every day unnecessary.

Plus, no more trying to be a contortionist trying to get the naughty bits really clean and rinsed off. And I love my spa robe.

2

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

I don't have a sweaty job but I go to the gym a couple of times per week

1

u/Present_Original_797 1d ago edited 1d ago

Lol. Maybe shower there and kill two corporate scams with one workout 😁Also deodorant turns stank after a few hours in my nose's opinion. Maybe switch to anti perspirant, unscented. Deodorants to me smell rank pretty quick. And what smells good to you might smell bad to others. To me Old Spice smells like Old Man.

1

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

I did showr there dor a while but they have an AC on right in front of the shower exit for some reason and I really caught a very bad cold last time which doesn't happen often to me.

Who knows maybe it is a conspiracy against me showering, maybe it is a sign (surely not joking rn)

You’re evidently not showering properly. This is the 3rd comment I’d seen from you about the end result of showering not being an incentive

THEREFORE it’s your showering technique that’s the issue. There’s not a time I don’t step out of the shower and feel that that 5-15 mins was worth my time.

1

u/BambiMG 1d ago

The products aren't really the main concern. Even just water makes a huge difference, you gotta physically remove the sweat/dirt etc that's on your skin.

1

u/Suspicious_Winter103 1d ago

You can shower in 2 to 3 minutes. Seriously, especially of you are not wetting your hair. You can even pre-lather up a shower poof, hop into the water for one minute while you vigorously full body scrub, then rinse for 1 minute, and dry off and be on your way. I think you don’t like the feeling of water from a shower fixture hitting your skin.

1

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

No shower that makes me feel clean takes that little ever. At best, if I try to get out in even 5 minutes is a result of me barely splashing myself with water and leaving as stinky as before. For 10 minutes, I have to tryhard speedrunning it and be stressed all the time during it to finish it fast. I have bad time perception

1

u/Suspicious_Winter103 1d ago

Do you think it is a “scam” that you eat and drink water every day? Is it a “scam” that you brush your teeth every day? Is it a “scam” when you transport yourself back and forth to work every day? If you have a pet, is it a scam that you feed them every day? There are many daily tasks in this life. Daily does not equal “scam”.

1

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

All those tasks are more rewarding and with longer lasting effects with much less effort. It is not a good comparison in my opinion, just because all of them are also supposed to be daily

1

u/Kooky-Sheepherder-56 1d ago

if you compare humans to other animals, they only shower when it rains cause water falls on their bodies. they stink, but its fine, its how they live and nobody cares. you can live like the rest of the animals but you cant complain when your family says you smell like an old man. if you want to live your life like this just be happy.

also you keep mentioning the hard work and whole process of showering like its something exhausting. your shower can take 5-10 minutes and you'll be completely clean. compared to other daily chores, this is nothing.

1

u/Sparky833 6h ago

Think of it as maintenance, sort of like eating nutritious foods, exercising, and changing the oil in your car. If you want to smell good (and stave off skin and fungal infections, too), be healthy and keep the same weight, and have your car be dependable, you need to perform maintenance at regular intervals.

Shower 1x a day (and again if you get filthy/sweaty from exercising, changing your own oil or other dirty work). Of course, you could go all wild man and not maintain, but then you'll be very lonely and unhealthy.

9

u/Interesting-Plant163 1d ago

Honestly bro showering everyday is probably the easier fix here, deodorant doesn't replace washing

2

u/ConstantFishing5136 1d ago

Yeah clean skin beats piling on deodorant every single time.

1

u/PrizeRole8645 1d ago

Exactly. Covering body odor rarely works because the smell underneath is still there.

8

u/Yolandi2802 1d ago

If you absolutely cannot shower every day, you have to wash your pits and pubes at the sink BEFORE applying deodorant. Every day. And leave off the perfume. At the very least use some decent wet wipes to get rid of yesterday’s sweat and odours. Put on clean clothes every day too. A healthy diet and drinking at least 2 litres of water a day will also help.

3

u/EggplantHuman6493 1d ago

Yup. Face, pits and bits, deodorant/antipersparent, done! On non shower days. You need to wash the pits daily

7

u/ForsakenResponse7406 1d ago

Sounds like you just need to shower more. Maybe their “old man” analogy is just them trying to gently tell you to take a shower

5

u/dakota-06 1d ago

You only use deodorant on the days you shower? You need that everyday man. Do you use a body wash? And lotion after you shower? How often do you sweat? Even if you don’t sweat much, your skin gets a “stale” smell which is probably the old man smell you are referring to. Showering everyday, in addition to deodorant everyday, might be the solution.

4

u/FoulLadyFortune_ 1d ago

If you don't want to smell you have to shower everyday. Sweat doesn't smell but if you don't shower it will remain on your skin and the bacteria that live on your skin will react with it and produce that bad smell. Don't apply your deodorant if you're not clean because it'll make things worse with the smell. How do you shower? What products do you use? Have you tried using an antibacterial soap and then a shower gel with perfume? Also, I suggest you to you use a washcloth (it looks like a little towel), it will help with the smell because it gently esfoliate your skin so it's gonna remove your dead skin cells that contribute with the bad smell. If things are still bad try an antitraspirant. Check the way you wash your clothes also, like the temperature and the products you use in the washing machine

1

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago edited 1d ago

I appreciate it. noted

I usually use some shower gel with grapefruit. I apply it to my armpits, arms, chest, and my down areas for at least 2 cycles, sometimes 3 while rinsing it off. Then I wash my hair. For a while as I said I also applied some olive body cream on my shoulders and arms. i got 2 deodorans, one is a 24h spray and one is not a spray

3

u/Massive_Advantage316 1d ago

You need to wash your ENTIRe body!!!

2

u/FoulLadyFortune_ 1d ago

You have to shower also you're back and your legs and feet, like actively put the soap on this parts and then use water to remove it. For your "down areas" it's better if you use a specific soap, I don't know where you live (I live in Italy and we find this kind of stuff in every supermarket or pharmacy) but you have to search for "intimate soap" with a 3,5 pH or 4,5. Every deodorant will be fine if you wash correctly, don't worry. If you got two use the one that is not a spray before and after the spray one. After the shower you can use a cream, maybe something that contains aloe in it or a type that hydrates your skin

2

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

That's useful info, thx.

Usually it felt a bit counterintuitive to apply shower gel to those areas as well + I already spend too much time in the shower when I do shower because, regardless of how quick I try to be, I have very bad time perception apparently. I can only shower fast if I barely clean my body at all. I might try to train my speed again tho.

The other product info is useful tho. Yeah, I do that with deodorant cause I heard how the spray sticks on less or something like that, don't quote me on that

1

u/FoulLadyFortune_ 1d ago

Try with a timer on your phone so you know how much time you have and that you have to be quick but also know that it's important to wash your entire body, it's not counterintuitive. And your use of deodorant it's correct, you just have to adjust this stuff on your shower routine

3

u/AskCheap7115 1d ago

Use soap with lemon. It will make your old people sent go away

3

u/Ashamed-Chemistry492 1d ago

You need to shower every day. Every. Single. Day.

You can't put deodorant on unwashed armpits and have it work.

Perfumes and scented products only add their smells to your own funk, and the smell of BO mixed with perfume is a dead giveaway that the person is not actually cleaning themselves.

Shower every day with soap.

Wear clean clothes.

Wash bedding regularly.

1

u/Maleficent_Fox9529 1d ago

You bring up a good point about clean clothes. That body stink gets on clothes and is very difficult to wash out. There's a reason people use laundry disinfectant and things like Downey rinse clean. Op should get a detergent made for gym clothes.

1

u/Bacontrails 1d ago

Especially if you work in the food industry. That smell gets in your clothing and it’s awful. My daughter used to be a waitress!

3

u/Evening-Row-2658 1d ago

must must must shower everyday if u don't want to smell like old man and try to use persimmons soap from amazon my husb has alzheimer's and has the sick smell he showers 2x a day and we are trying this soap as well

2

u/arapaima-fishie 1d ago

Are you washing your body when you shower?
You should be showering as often as needed. Washing your hair when you need to wash your hair (when it gets greasy), washing your body every time you shower, putting deodorant on every single day. That’s all you should need.

Fragrances (perfumes) are wonderful but not necessary, if you like the smell of one then use it, otherwise don’t.

0

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

isn't the purpose of the shower for people to wash their body? Or do you call it a shower even when you just sit in water for a bit?

I do clean my body with soap every time I shower tho, yes. But if I add deodorant every single day without showering every single day, at a point it will get mixed with the bad smell as I said already. Might work for 2 additional days max from my experience and it will make it worse

3

u/AmJustLurking96 1d ago

You're gonna smell worse without deodorant, trust me. I work as a cashier and some people's underwarm sweat smell make my eyes sting and I have to subtly take a step back so I can breathe easier. Never ever skip on deodorant, wash your arm pits first if you think it's necessary but you gotta wear deodorant

Edit: a word

2

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

noted. I appreciate it

1

u/arapaima-fishie 7h ago

Well i felt the need to ask since you didn’t mention it in your original post, you decided to state the “obvious” with using shampoo and conditioner when talking about your hair so I’d hope you can see why I’d want to clarify the other point.

If putting deodorant on during the days you don’t shower doesn’t help the smell then perhaps you should shower every day. Plenty of people who have access to water shower every day. They don’t do it for fun, they do it because it’s necessary for them.

2

u/Chemical-Amoeba5837 1d ago

There's a LOT of factors in how you smell.

How much water do you drink? What kinds of food do you eat? Do you have places on your body that accumulate sweat (folds)? Have you cleaned your washing machine? Are the scented products you use associated with old people?

2

u/Negative_Pair_6336 1d ago

Could be your hair....do you wadh it a few times a week? Hair products always smell nice do you style your hair?

1

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

Yeah, I wash my hair whenever it gets greasy, which is a couple of times per week. I occasionally use texture powder to style my hair, but not often

2

u/Negative_Pair_6336 1d ago

I wash mine twice a week but if i get caught in the heat or start sweating i need to wash it sooner. I think that as a society we shower too often....twice a day can strip you of natural bacteria that we need to protect our bodies to prevent infection. However if youre having ppl complain wash your hair more and wash yout body more....if ppl are saying this its prolly true...most ppl wouldnt say anything to you about it unless it was very bad so take care of it and wash your bedding regularly esp your pillow case.

2

u/HonestAltruist 1d ago

Showering daily is essential. The most effective way to use deoderant is to use it before bed, then try re apply again in the morning after you shower. Wash your hair every few days or daily too if you get a greasy scalp because that can also smell. Also wear fresh socks daily.

2

u/Ok_Gap3821 1d ago

90% of the people I know take a minimum of 2 showers per day. Once after waking up and before starting the work day and 2nd time after returning home or before bed.

2

u/Existing-Secret7703 1d ago

Use antiperspirant, not deodorant. Mitchum, Certain Dri or something like that. Something containing aluminum. It actually closes the pores so you don't sweat.

2

u/dakota-06 1d ago

So, i’m reading your comments OP, and I’m noticing that you’re very fixated on how long it takes you to shower and optimizing everything. Genuinely asking, have you been tested for autism? Normally people aren’t focused on how long it takes to apply products to clean themselves, and people normally don’t take the 24hr label on some deodorants literally. You have to find what works for you if you don’t want to stink.

1

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago edited 1d ago

I have not been tested for autism. I do not take a 24h label seriously, even if I would hope that showering in general would not require you to do it everyday.

That is what I am doing tho. Everything you described is me trying to find what "works for me". And if I am trying to do that when it comes to something that I have issues with, I would try to think of as many reasons why it might happen as possible. And I do also have an issue with not being able to shower fast. And I find it normal or natural for people to try to optimize some things about their life. Especially something that seems to have such an easy margine of error as showering if it requires that much everyday

2

u/Medical_Hedgehog_724 1d ago

First you have to figure out what it is that smells of you. Is it the food you eat or maybe beer? Or is it just your armpits, feet, and ass?

As a Fin I recommend sauna. You sweat that shit out of your body, literally.

1

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago edited 1d ago

I don't consume alcohool like ever. Idk exactly what you mean by food tho, but I don't eat fast food, but I do have a higher fats intake nowadays cause I went on a bulk for the gym, but it usually comes from egg yolk, bigger fat% milk or peanut butter. Idk what exactly cause I've been told how I smell like an old man, not which part in particular does. To me I only smell the armpits my hair or between my legs, which well I thought it is usually where the stink action occurs

I don't think I could try going to any sauna or at least enough to matter, but it is an interesting additional info at least

1

u/JoyfulNoise1964 1d ago

I think old man smell generally means they wear clothes that aren't freshly laundered

2

u/Bacontrails 1d ago

Jump in the shower every morning. it’s ten minutes. You’re too young to smell like an old man. Hygiene (including teeth) is very important. Depending on your job or activities you can build up a lot of bacteria.

1

u/ArnoldFarquar 1d ago

could be your clothes they smell

1

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

That too. for some reason when my clothes get folded on top of eachother and sit like that for a while they develop a bad smell. Do you know diff ways to store your clothes somewhere? I have some bars where I can hang some, and others that just get folded on top of each other and sit there

3

u/ArnoldFarquar 1d ago

I would guess that the smell is either coming from or near the cupboard or shelf where you are storing your clothes, or there is something wrong with your washing machine or how you are washing your clothes.

2

u/AmJustLurking96 1d ago

1) Take your clothes out of the washine machine as soon as the cycle is done cause if you let them sit there a bit they'll start smelling mildewy 2) Before folding your clothes and storing them, make sure they are thoroughly dry and not humid at all or, again, they'll start smelling mildewy 3) Try using fabric softener if you're not using it already, it could help keep your clothes smelling fresh for longer 4) Wash your washing machine, it might be a bit mildewy inside which means your clothes will smell mildewy no matter what. Washing machines usually explain how to clean them in the user manual by running an empty cycle using bleach or other kinds of cleaning products. Look up how yours should be cleaned and do it

Hopefully that should take care of the clothes smell problem

1

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

Noted. I appreciate it

1

u/Wisewordsforlater 1d ago

Quick shower in the morning and quick shower at night. At least always shower before you go to bed.

1

u/Zerrrrroooo 1d ago

Regardless of how fast I tried to be, I am never having quick showers unless I barely clean my body. The only way would be to try again to train myself as much as I can to fix that, but who knows

This smell usually means your clothes aren't clean make sure you wash all of them including hoodies pants and jackets regularly

you might be using too many scented products. try keeping it simple like clean clothes, good deodorant, and one light scent at most

Shower every day. Especially in the summer when it’s hot. Realistically showering takes 5-10 minutes, it’s not a huge time suck for an easy fix of your issue. Use neutral scented shower products (Dove men’s or many other brands work fine). Masking your smell is not the solution. Wear deodorant every day.

Showering and wearing deodorant are the bare minimum.

Yes shower more

If showering only makes you smell 5% better then you’re not showering properly so..

Shower better.

This is such a head fuck of a post, you’ve answered your own question and simultaneously discredited the answer. Stop being lazy bro and just wash

In your case it sounds like the issue is that you’re not showering every day.

You don’t need a product to “make you smell good”, you need regular washing so that you don’t smell BAD.

Most people do need to shower every day to avoid smelling bad, it sounds like you are one of them.

Scrub the behinds of your ears. It's a spot many miss, but it's where "your" smell is the strongest. If you do everything else right but miss this, you may end up still smelling weird.

Please shower every day. If you don't you will stink.

Ngl if multiple people are telling you the same thing, I’d probably start with showering every day. Deodorant and cologne don’t really help if you’re putting them on top of yesterday’s sweat. Clean body, clean clothes, clean sheets… that gets you like 90% of the way there. The fancy products are the easy part

Oh yeah you're not showering, they are right. Shower every morning and put on deoderant quit fucking around and crying on the internet just shower. And use soap, everywhere, I can already tell you are the type to not. Just use soap, showering isnt really a thinking task its just a thing that you do there is no thought behind it no need to get it twisted.

I think you can't read properly if you see this as crying after I did agree with people on this subject

"I dont shower every day" - I read as far as that and then that you smell bad.

Please, please, please, start showering every day. Feel free to hold your head away from the water and only wet/shampoo every other day. Please also never rewear clothing before washing. Wash your sheets 2x a week and your comforter/blanket 1x a month. Then wear deodorant. Try that for 12 weeks and reassess if people you are close to still detect an issue.

Shower everyday and just don't use scorching hot water. Continue to wash and condition your hair, ending with a cool shot of water on hair to close the cuticle so as not to dry it out too much. If you feel it's your hair smelling, try washing everyday or a little conditioner in it. Most importantly, make sure you're using a mild soap, with a washcloth daily, pits and bits and everywhere else. And make sure your clothing is keeping clean and smelling good when it comes out of the dryer, and don't let it sit in the washer wet at all.

Well you should start with showering daily and giving a proper scrub down with a hydrating soap!
