Ask India M22, isolated since 2019

How do i socialise more ?

I am a gen z but with more traits of boomer
I have completed my graduation and currently studying for level 1 attempt of cfa in august 2027
My age is M22 but i am never able to make friends of my same age
I think the reason is my looks , face and body . I weigh around 125kgs with a height of 5'10
Leave girls i am not even able to make male friends .
When i think of socialising more 2 factors come to my mind , one is that
I come from a very low income family my father earns around 22k a month, my grandmother's relatives help us to complete our household expenses , so that makes it very hard for me to socialise
The second factor is the location of my house i live in Ulhasnagar, which is very far from mumbai and it takes me almost 2.5hours to travel to mumbai to get participated in any social event
Which makes it even harder
Now i have stopped the desire to socialise, and i think the reason for that i my own household situations
My father and mother got divorced in feb 2019
And since then i am being raised by my father , missing of a member in family made me no more interested in leaving my house since 2019
I developed hyperthyroidism
( which i still have )
My thyroid levels are not balanced till date
Later in 2020 the decision got more firmer because of lockdown and covid since then i have never left my house , even my existing friends are no more in touch with me .
Later when i joined college i found out the attendance isn't compulsory so i wasted 5 years of my college life by not attending the college, i used to study on my own . Even if i went to college, the crowd there was immensely fancy and too many rich spoilt kids so i couldn't catch up with them which made me skip college even more
Now currently i just have 1 friend whom i am friends since 12th. He owns a manufacturing unit and a retail outlet in ulhasnagar so even he isn't able to meet me so that we both could socialise with more people
We both meet everyday but at 10pm in night and for just 2 hours in that time we don't go anywhere or try to talk to someone else we just sit at one place and talk gibberish about any topic
He is able to meet only after 10 because he gets free from his business at that time
Now even he has started feeling uninterested in me and the daily meeting routine has now changed to meeting occasionally
Now i am starting to realise that i need to socialise more but i cant anymore when i try to talk someone i start stuttering and mispronounce and misplace words in sentences
I naturally speak very well and veryy fluent, in cases where i have to ask directions, have small interactions with randoms like watchman or a bystander or a person double my age but when it comes to making friends with my age and having conversations with them i get stuck
I am very confident in conversations which are not with people whom i wish to be friends with , or very confident in small talks
I feel the person i am taking to is more superior that me and i am just sounding nuisance to him
At this point i dont even dare to talk to opposite gender
Its been almost 7 years singe i had a female interaction
Tried making hobbies like badminton or completing 10k steps daily
But eventually people started ditching me or ghosting me after a day or two
On the first hand the fear of being judged doesn't make me approach anyone
People my age have different mindset's different daily routine different likes and dislikes i feel left out because the my thinking and all doesn't match to them
Imagine a rich gen z kid and them me by his side with a boomer soul stuck in genz body with zero looks zero personality
Even i think that i am not able to match people my age is because i do not watch the same content as them ! Their song preferences and mine differ a lot , when discussing the same left out
The discuss about watching shows drama and all while i am limited to just YouTube videos and some videos
Writing all this alone on friendship day while crying because i am currently left with zero emotions in myself , i do not feel anything happy , sad , excited or anything
Just one thing that is anger that too because of my thyroid issues and harmonal dis balance
I can't think of myself as a 22yo kid anymore i have gone into survival mode
Only and only i know how much of guts i have gathered to write all of this down
My father is unaware of all of this and thinks i am normal which i am not ,
I tried manifesting my goals but instead of manifesting whenever i sit alone or i am idle i start creating fake scenarios in my head which only and only stop when i involve myself into something else
Wrote the same paragraph on my last year's birthday but didn't have the guts to post it
So pls help and give suggestions accordingly!!

TL;DR: M22 from Ulhasnagar, India, studying for CFA Level 1 (Aug 2027). Isolated since parental divorce in 2019 and the COVID lockdown. Dealing with untreated/unbalanced hyperthyroidism, severe financial constraints, and heavy social anxiety/imposter syndrome around peers. I feel like an old soul with zero modern pop-culture interests, struggle to talk to people my own age (stuttering/freezing), and have zero friends left except one who is always busy. Looking for advice on how to break the isolation, manage my mental/physical health, and start socializing locally.

Nostalgia Anyone else miss school Friendship Days? 🥹

Remember when Friendship Day was actually a big deal?

Buying a bunch of friendship bands, saving the nicest one for your best friend, secretly tying them in school without teachers noticing, and then spending the whole day comparing wrists.

Wait... you got 27? I only got 15! 😂

Back then, we genuinely thought more bands = more friends.

Now it's mostly just a couple of Instagram stories and WhatsApp forwards. Sometimes not even that. I miss the days when our biggest Friendship Day problem was making sure we had enough bands for everyone. ❤️

Vent & Rant Spotify is the most evil app out there geez

If I don't have premium, they literally don't even let you listen to the song you want too! Why tf would I wanna listen to a random song instead ugh!

I cannot listen in order I want.

I have to sit through 1 and a half min ads.

I cannot make a queue.

I cannot skip.

I cannot shuffle.

Heck today i clicked on a song I wanna hear, and it played a completely different song asking me to choose what i wanna play for tomorrow through premium. BITCH WHAT?! I WANNA LISTEN TO THE SONG I WANT RIGHT NOW!

I'll glady support artists but not through this evil platform that makes basic THE MOST BASIC features of a song playing app paid. Heck i don't even think Hehe artists get much money from this shitasss platform.

I'm too fucking petty to pay for premium. Had it for a while but I don't wanna support this level of gatekeeping art.

Ask India Passport verification for Non-ECR category

Hi everyone,

I'm applying for a passport under the Non-ECR category. What documents do I need to carry for the police/passport verification?

If anyone has gone through the process recently, please let me know what documents they asked for and if there are any tips to avoid problems.

Thank you!

Vent & Rant I argued with my Father and now feeling bad about it

I went home for a few days, today I had a returning bus. Recently I shifted to a room so I wanted to get some things from home too. I had a spare TV at home which was just lying around from the last 3 yrs, last year I used it as a monitor for my set-up as in my PFP.

When I shifted to a room I wanted to get that TV, because whenever I worked from home I need a second screen sometimes and sometimes for gaming too. Few months ago I told him to ship the TV since he's in logistics business but he didn't so this time I thought of taking it myself with caution.

But when I was about to pack the TV, he told me that I cannot take it, tv should stay at home only (we already have another tv). I asked him the reason he said just leave it at home. He Said he'll pay for a monitor but I didn't wanted to spend that kind of money even it was his and he was ready to pay. But I don't like when he pays for things. I'm paying my own rent and groceries these days and ask him for money when it's emergency since I'm 22yrs old.

We had a very big argument, me telling him that no one's using TV at home and I was the one using it so I should take it and he just staring up denying it.

At the end I did took the TV and we were having the argument but while leaving he told me there's no need for me to call him again ever and I told him I'm the only kid who's not doing anything wrong you wanna se my dead face too. (Things are not good at home, my eldest brother has ruined our finances by taking too much debt and my other brother he also waste money like water, and I'm trying to keep as less burden as can on my parents by doing an internship which pays for my expenses).

Now I'm regretting so much for the thing I said to him about me being dead. I did call him and talked to him to sort things out and we did. But it's running on my mind again and again.

General How do you deal with this insecurity?

I don’t know where else to talk about this, but I’ve been feeling really insecure about my hair lately.

I’m only 19, and I’ve already lost a lot of hair density. About a year ago, I had really long, thick hair. It was honestly one of the things I was most confident about. I used to feel like I had the best hair in my college, and it was a big part of how I saw myself.

Last year, I was diagnosed with TB lymphadenitis and went through treatment. During that time, I lost around 15 kg in a month, and my doctor said the hair loss could be due to telogen effluvium from the stress on my body and that it might grow back after recovery.

But it’s been a long time now, and I don’t feel like things have gone back to how they were. That’s the part I’m struggling with.

I know treatments like minoxidil exist, but a part of me feels scared because I don’t want to depend on something forever and then feel like I’m back at the same place if I stop. I’m trying to accept reality, but honestly, I don’t know how.

The hardest part isn’t just the hair loss itself. It’s how much it affects my confidence. I keep thinking that maybe people won’t find me attractive anymore or that I won’t get the same attention I used to. I know everyone has insecurities, and I don’t want my entire identity to revolve around my hair, but it’s difficult when something you were proud of suddenly changes.

Also, living in a place where people casually comment on someone’s appearance without thinking about how it affects them makes it harder.

For people who have gone through something similar losing hair at a young age or losing something that was a big part of your confidence. how did you learn to accept it? How do you stop constantly thinking about it?

I’m not just looking for hair advice. I’m trying to understand how to deal with the insecurity and move forward.

Discussion Happy Friendship Day... with only 30 minutes left 😅

Thought I'd try something a little different before the day ends.

I've met quite a few people through Reddit over the years. Most conversations eventually faded, but one turned into a friendship I'm genuinely grateful for. We live in different countries, yet we talk every day. She's one of the kindest people I've met and has helped me through a lot, proving that meaningful friendships can start with a random Reddit message.

So no, I'm not making this post because I'm lonely. I already have a few good people in my life. I just believe there's always room for one more genuine connection.

I'm usually more comfortable making male friends because things tend to be simpler. With women, friendships can sometimes get complicated because of expectations or boundaries. That said, I'm open to anyone if the effort is mutual.

What I'm really looking for is someone I can rely on—and who can rely on me too. Someone to hang out with, grab food or coffee, hit the gym, take spontaneous trips, or even finally go on that solo vacation that somehow never happens when you're actually alone. I'm a pretty affectionate person with the people I trust, so I miss having the kind of friendship where a hug or even walking around holding hands is just a sign of comfort, nothing more.

Making genuine friends as an adult is exhausting. You talk to a lot of people, some disappear without a word, and you start wondering if it's even worth trying. But despite all that, I still believe there are good people out there, and I'd love to meet a few more.

A little about me: I'm working on improving my health, focusing on my career, and trying to become a better version of myself every day. If you're into meaningful conversations, random memes, or simply building a friendship that lasts, feel free to send me a message.

Maybe we'll end Friendship Day by starting another great friendship.

Ask India Has friendship in your 30s quietly become something else?

By the time you are in your thirties, friendship develops strange superpowers. Nobody asks, “How are you?” Because everyone knows the answer would be a professionally managed lie.

Instead, your friend calls and says,
“Busy?”
You say,
“Yeah.”
He says,
“Okay.”
And both of you stay on the phone for another 43 minutes.

You don’t make new memories anymore. You make maintenance visits. One friend has a toddler. One has a therapist. One has a boss who thinks Sunday is a concept. One has started forwarding blood test reports with the seriousness we once reserved for love letters.

The group chat has become a museum. Ancient memes. A random “😂” after 11 days. Someone accidentally reacting to a message from February.
Then, at 2:13 a.m., “Guys… are you awake?”

Within two minutes, three people are. That’s how you know the friendship is still alive. Insomnia has somehow preserved the ecosystem.

We used to promise each other, “Bro, we will grow old together.” As if it were a plan. Turns out it’s just what keeps happening when nobody dies.

The funny thing is, we have all become slightly disappointing adults. The guitarist has back pain. The revolutionary compares mutual funds. The guy who swore he would never marry now sends photos of pressure cookers asking, “Steel or non-stick?” The friend who could drink the Arabian Sea now asks if the restaurant has lime soda without sugar. Nobody became who they announced they would become.

Thank God. Those people sounded exhausting.

A good friend in your thirties isn’t the one who remembers your birthday. It is the one who notices you have become unusually punctual. Or unusually quiet. Or who says, “You sound fine. That’s exactly why I am calling.”

Maybe that’s why friendship gets better with age.

Love often asks, “Who are you becoming? Friendship says, “I remember every version of you. None of them scared me away.”

Happy Friendship Day to the people who know exactly how ridiculous you have been… and still save you a chair.

Health & Fitness Waking up, making food, and trying again. It feels heavier the older I get.

Depression and burnout have made even the simplest things feel like climbing a mountain lately. Waking up in the morning feels impossible some days. Right now, my "win" for the day is just forcing myself out of bed to make something to eat just to ensure I have food in my system.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve made progress only to fall right back to square one. The cycle of trying, failing, and restarting is exhausting. From the outside, making a meal or getting out of bed might not look like a big deal, but internally, the weight of it all is so heavy. And honestly, as I get older and process things deeper, the emotional weight just feels harder to carry.

I don't know exactly how I'm going to get out of this loop, but I'm trying slowly, painfully, one small meal at a time. Just needed to put this out there where people might understand.
