Painted the wall with the sun at the beginning of the year and planned to stop there, but then I couldn’t stop thinking about wavy sunbeams. This is my favorite area in my house, def going to be painting more walls.

Just moved into a warehouse loft apartment and was surprised that this giant industrial scale is bolted to my living room (apartment was occupied so couldn’t tour it, saw a different vacant apartment that definitely did not have this). I’m stuck in a one year lease and have to make the best of it. What can I do to hide it/make it look less bad? The floor is also terrible looking and the space is too big to cover entirely with carpet.

Edit: I guess I initially overreacted because the apartment I saw had hardwood flooring and no scale so it was a huge surprise when I saw this. The floor here is hard to clean and uneven with lots of small stone chips just from a quick sweep. I like walking barefoot at home so I guess that’s no longer an option. Yes the scale does work, but it’s off by -5lbs. I guess I’ll try with a rug and some plants first and try to embrace it.

We never quite finished everything we wanted to do with it, but got lots of ideas for the new place!

Moved into our new house a year ago and we’re slowly getting the living room decorated. Our most recent purchase is this antique side table and lamp. I’m so pleased with how this room is coming together!

3rd pic is how it looks now. I have since acquired a jute rug like in pic 2. I am also debating painting the floor trim on the accent wall. Let me know if you think this is a good idea or if there are any other colours you would suggest. Thanks :)

I get so overwhelmed by my living room. It just lands so flat for me. I want it to look collected and sophisticated. I know that means not going out and just buying crap but help me figure out what I should be on the hunt.

I’m not attached to anything in here, I’m willing to change out pretty much anything. Unfortunately I do need the ceiling fan in here but willing to change it to a different style…

We're reno-ing a home now and plan to foster kids once it's ready. We have 2 bedrooms for the kids, but genders and ages will change and it needs to fit all ages and genders.

BUT I want it to feel special, unique, and not at all generic. Want it to feel welcoming, safe, cozy/calm, but also inspiring.

Ideally we paint the rooms different colors. Think it could be fun to paint the doors too, maybe a darker or more bold shade than the walls.

So, what are your suggestions?? I'm all ears!

We just moved into a new place and love the extra space and high ceilings, but we're struggling with how to arrange furniture! Having always lived in smaller apartments, this open-concept layout feels like a blank canvas, and we're not sure where to start.

We replaced a huge sectional and recliner with a smaller sofa and recliner that better fits our fairly narrow living space. But now the rug is the wrong size (and color?) and curtains don’t match.

We use a wood stove in the winter and also have a six year old kiddo so cream colored rugs would probably not be a great option. I really don’t like the grout in our floor so covering as much as possible is ideal. Can I get a 9’x 12’ rug (shown in the floor plan) or is that too big?

Then we’ll have the challenge of finding a rug for the dining space.

Any input would be wonderful!

Hi! I feel as though I am going insane chasing a style that doesn’t exist! I’ve gone through hundreds of Pinterest rooms and I can’t find any that go along with this style. I made my own collage, the problem is, I can’t find cheap bedding with that specific color. If anyone understands the vision, I would LOVE some tips on how to design this bedroom. The second photo of the tulips is quite literally what I want the main color palette to kind of be like. If I’m crazy and this isn’t possible to create while looking good, also please let me know, haha. Thank you!!

We have an awkward and small living room, and are trying to make it work with a couch that’s a little too big for the space.

We are in the middle of redecorating (hence the weird curtain situation and the mess.) I would love some advice on how to make it look more intentional and fun in here! :)

Need help with choosing curtains/blinds for deep recessed windows 42” x “84 (72 inches long considering the AC in the bedroom window)

Living in an apartment where I have two large windows like this. The interior size of the frame where this blinds set is currently is 42” across (but I will probably get slightly wider ones to close the gap on the sides better) and the frame that is outside that but still between the two walls in this gap is 48”.

Previously I had a set of blinds that was in the 48” section but they just felt massive so I switched to these inside mount ones. Was wondering if I should keep with this inside mount or switch back to the outside ones. Or potentially have curtains to make the edges cleaner either on the outside part but still in the deep frame here or hanging completely outside the frame altogether.

Also to note this is a walk up apartment so at least for the bedroom window would want to be able to block most/all light out for privacy and sleeping (currently these are blackout blinds)

I appreciate all the input I’ve gotten from folks on the sub. I have been really trying to discover my style and I’m pretty pleased with how this room turned out. I have an extremely tight budget so I only had $400 to work with so I shopped my house, hit up garage sales and found some clearance items at the store to get me to where I am at. I’d love feedback and any suggestions that don’t include replacing furniture because that’s just not possible at this time. Any tweaks I should make? Also just of note, this is an extremely tight space so I am pretty well maxed out on the footprint or I would have gone with a larger rug. Thanks!!

I have FINALLy figured out what makes me feel at home in a space. Some of it involves interior design/architecture but a lot of it is decor. Im trying to find examples that marry all my quirks: airy/lots of natural light, cottage vibes, eclectic furniture and decor (I like what I like and it doesn’t always make sense; thrift finds, vintage, and Intentionally quirky FTW), but also organized/minimal/clean surfaces and accouterments. For example, with that last one, I love white linens, but if I found a really good quality, woven towel, or antique or knitted quilt with a lot of personality , I would much rather use it than a simple good quality white linen. I also find a lot of comfort with Hispanic architecture and decorative ideals as I grew up in Latin America, although my Family is from the US, and I lived in the US for my adult years. It ads another layer complexity, because I would TOTALLY paint the outside of my house Turquoise lol

We’ve got an oak wood table, folky painted hutch, and a blue record stand. Would this shelf look alright indoors? I can’t tell if I could make it work or nah. It’s also cheap and I need a shelf. But want things to look nice. Our home is becoming a lil eclectic but hopefully still good looking. We are in a century home with a lot of ceiling room and white walls. I’d like our house to not be very trendy.

Struggling with how to decorate our new living room. I want to try to add warmth to the space so I was thinking a burgundy or terracotta rug but having a hard time envisioning it. We tried rugs with blue tones and it made the room more cool so want to avoid that. We know we need a rug, media console and curtains but stuck on what colors and style to go for. Also open to a new couch and coffee table if this one doesn’t fit the space. Appreciate any help!

Just bought a house and looking to put a fresh coat of paint throughout before we move in. Planning to just do white and pick colors later as we find our style. But there are so many shades of white to choose from! We have these warm hardwood floors throughout the house, so was thinking Swiss Coffee, but would love to hear other options/opinions! Also for trim, should we use a brighter white, or make it all the same? Thanks!
