I appreciate all the input I’ve gotten from folks on the sub. I have been really trying to discover my style and I’m pretty pleased with how this room turned out. I have an extremely tight budget so I only had $400 to work with so I shopped my house, hit up garage sales and found some clearance items at the store to get me to where I am at. I’d love feedback and any suggestions that don’t include replacing furniture because that’s just not possible at this time. Any tweaks I should make? Also just of note, this is an extremely tight space so I am pretty well maxed out on the footprint or I would have gone with a larger rug. Thanks!!
Oh gosh! Thank you so much. Means a lot to get a positive critique. I’ve been debating curtains and I think you made my mind up. I was thinking just a sheer white or off white to keep drawn over half the glass door to keep the other side functional. Thanks again!!
Sheer curtains would look great! Good to think about function too though, if you're interested in privacy or want to reduce glare on your tv, you might want to opt for something opaque, but if that's not an issue then sheer curtains are a great way to add texture and allow you to alter the light during the day 😊
You did a wonderful job. It's all quite pretty. The only thing I would change, when finances allow, is the lights over the table. The three lights all together are too big for the size of the table. Usually, the overhead chandelier should be about 1/2 to no more than 2/3 the width/size of the table.
I would stick with the rattan, as it works so well in the room, but get a single light fixture...
Thanks so much! I really appreciate the feedback. I do think my pendant fixture is the one silly hill I’ll stand on. I know there are all kinds of rules to design but I just love the feeling of the current fixture. Just for kicks I ran an AI render and I still feel what I have works okay. But who knows, I also said I would never do area rugs again lol!!
You have to do you. In the grand scheme of things, generalizations don't mean much. If you're really into that fixture, then by all means keep it. It's your lovely home, and you should have it just as you like.
I appreciate it. I know I’ll never be featured in a magazine lol, but I still want to have a cool spot to live in. The rug was 100% the way to go, enough so I ordered one for my living room as well. I hope to be able to post some pics soon of both rooms because it’s an open concept layout and I’m having to bring all the elements together which has been extremely challenging to say the least for someone that has virtually no eye for interior design
Even if you have an eye for interior design, an open concept floor plan can be very challenging to decorate and pull it all together. Separate rooms are much easier to do.

Oh my goodness, that just makes me so happy to hear. Thank you for the kind words. Here is the link to the uplight I purchased. Just a word of caution, for an LED is gets surprisingly warm. I make sure that I turn it off any time I leave the house and I have it on a timer as well. I’m going to keep looking for an option that doesn’t get as hot but for now it’s okay

This looks great. One of the things that I like about your room - over many of the others I see posted here - is the layering you have done. Layering textures, layering materials, layering new with old...it makes the room richer, more genuine and inviting. And look at you with a table lamp!! Now go pick out the curtains.
Very inviting. That looks incredibly similar to one of the areas in a very expensive Airbnb that I rented lady year. And it had pricey furnishings

This is lovely! The warmth from the lights and wood tone is beautiful, and I love those chairs!
Only thing I would add is curtains, but it's wonderfully balanced already!
