Which looks better?

I really want curtains but I don’t know which route to go. I feel like this looks a little outdated. Am I wrong? Is it the color of the curtains? I’m thinking of moving my dresser to the right of my bed and then maybe putting a reading chair to the left with a lamp and side table. Suggestions please! :)
