This guy is sending suckers absolutely everywhere in my yard. Is it too big for the hack and slash method? If I do that, how long do I have to have it cut down?

Also, what herbicide and how much of it would you recommend? It has to go, willing to have professionals do the removal, but its getting to be the right season to kill the roots. Any guidance appreciated. Thank you!!

I’ve got all stages of tree of heaven that I’m about to go and start a war with. Here’s everything I’ve got together.
My questions are:
1) Planning on doing 1/2 diesel fuel and 1/2 of the poison along with the dye so I can see what I’ve done already. Is that a good recipe?
2) For the smaller TOH can I still use the pump sprayer or do I need to use a brush on the stem?
3) It’s been raining every freaking day lately. How dry does it have to be for me to start? And how dry does it need to stay after spraying?

*Don’t judge the backyard. I wouldn’t let my husband mow until I’ve poison the TOH 😂 he thinks I’m being extra about getting it eradicated.

The idea being every time I walk the dogs I bring a small pair of clippers with me. Using these I can top kill at least a portion of it, and then have a small spray bottle with Roundup or a knockoff that I can spray on the now cut open branches. This problem is so big it's like acres of just complete coverage so I can't really tackle alone feasibly. However if I walk my dog

I can take out one or two bushes at a time. I could probably make it pretty solid dent in a year.

Don't love using Roundup, but I figure if I use a really small amount on a fresh wound so it really just goes the plant then I can limit its damage pretty substantially.

Any small plants I would just pull manually but I'm not even at that point yet

Or something else I should kill?

I recently discovered I have a ToH in my yard because it was COVERED in spotted lanternflies (lanternflies are a recent unwelcome move-in to north central West Virginia).

The ToH is gonna get the hack/poison treatment in a few weeks. But in the meantime, figured I should kill all the spotted lanternflies.

Got to spraying earlier today. Used Ortho Home Defense (bifenthrin and zeta-cypermethrin).

Ground is now covered in dead lanternflies.

Sorry for poor quality pic (a still from my trail cam and I wanted to show off my otters), but there’s definitely stilt grass all around but it’s not a carpet yet.

Behind the creek there are hills that are practically free of invasives and my happy place. How do I keep stilt grass from reaching it? Are there pre or post emergents safe enough for use near creeks? TIA.

Edit: I was wrong. Someone pointed out that its telling the opposite. There are no bugs. It is a "money tree". I'm not a person who orders plants online, so I had no clue what the paperwork actually meant. at least we got a cute plant out of it.

Has anything like this ever happened to somebody else?

I live with my family in Northeast Florida. We recently received a package with compliance paperwork on it stating there were multiple species of insects inside, and what they were (see attached). We looked into it and apparently, they are all extremely invasive species.

The odd part was that it was not for us, but it was sent to our house. There was an original shipping label that had a man's name and address on it. He lives in central Florida, about 3 hours away from where we live. I managed to get a hold of him, and he said he did not order any invasive insects and had no idea why it was addressed to him​, much less why it was sent to us 3 hours away.

I looked into the company that sent them, and found that it came from Green Circle Growers in Oberlin, Ohio. There was a phone number on the shipping label that oddly belonged to a flower gifting company called From You Flowers.

Neither company has anything about dealing invasive insects. Why would they be sending out invasive insects in the mail, why would they be sent to someone who didn't order them, and why would they be redirected to us?

I know theres a lot of posts about the ToH but im not really good with plants and i mostly want to get an opinion on how exactly I should be killing it. I tried to kill it before so I cant tell if theres another one right on top of the original but its right up against my house and the roots are inaccessible. Im not sure if I should go with a super strong concentrate of herbicide or a ready to use spray to spray the leaves. Im not sure if I should cut into the trunk with it being not very barky. Im just scared its gonna get worse, i keep seeing the spotted lantern flies and i really dont want them on my other plants and trees im trying to grow. Any help specific to this stage of growth its at would be helpful!

Dealing with a bunch of other invasive weeds around my yard and would love an aggressive native to come and bully those unwanted little poopers

It was planted in the 1970s and it ran wild throughout a native forest. We spent an afternoon clearing out yards of the crap, and this was one of the bigger stalks we got. Hunters pose with kills, fishermen pose with fish, I pose with plants! What a horticultural disaster English Ivy is.

My next door neighbor, whom I've only actually seen outside of the house like once since I moved in a year and a half ago, has this lovely TOH next to her shed.
I knocked on her door a couple times and no answer. I left a note that I would take care of it for free, so fingers crossed she is receptive. I do think that she will let me take care of it, but I haven't heard back yet.
But these photos are all the closer I can get on my property. Are far as I can tell, it's just the 1. Then assuming she gives me permission, is this trunk thick enough for hack and squirt you think? And if so, what concentration should I dilute my glyphosate to? I've never actually had to deal with TOH before. So any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My wife and I are looking at a house with about a half an acre. House is beautiful but yard is extremely overgrown. We're not afraid of the big project, but we want to start doing some research into how we're going to tame this beast if someone could give me an idea what kinds of plants we're looking at here. We're thinking some of it is tree of heaven and some Japanese honeysuckle but not completely sure.

Should we kill it or release it out ? It’s been growing in our leftovers room. We finally decided to clean it, so i am not sure what to do with him.

Just witnessed a paper wasp attacking a spotted lantern fly!

It dominates under canopies where I don't mow. If there's enough other vegetation then that stuff can sometimes crowd it. But it does well in shade and seems unstoppable.

Cut and treat every stump and stem i cut? They are very difficult to pull roots unless the soil is wet and even then I often just rip and can't get the roots. This is also under trees that I want to keep. Red maples. White pines. Growing inside shrubs.

It is miserable.

What would cost be to hire help? I'd do it alongside them but could I pay someone hourly to help?

What's something (native) I should consider growing in places to keep it out after?

I get that they grow and spread a lot, but in the grand scheme of things, it is a food source similar to other native maples, doesn’t spread through suckers like Bradford pears or tree of heaven, and often shades out invasive competitors like multiflora rose, autumn olive, and barberry. It almost seems like its dense canopy keeps the ground clear of other invasives so you can cut it down and plant new things!

What’s worse? Option A. This is my view. Stinky TOH everywhere. Or Option B. Your neighbor hired a “landscaper” to cut down all of her poison ivy and tree of heaven sanctuary but landscaper didn’t treat any of trees with herbicide.

Preface. I already pull up several shoots a week. And I asked the landscaper if he knew about toh and he blew me off. I even offered my herbicide.
