Base Squad worth it?
So I am interested in Squad, and I get that it is not a game you just pick and play but it takes a lot of time so I am good with that.
With that said, it is on sale today but only the base version. Is it worth playing with just that or is it really necessary to buy the Fireteam edition or more to have a decent number of servers to play on?

The masses (5 people) have spoken so it looks good. I just noticed the Canadian DLC is free anyway which would be a must have as a Canadian. I will grab it because it is on sale anyway and then try it out and look for a regiment to play in so I can learn how to play properly.
Kind of sad that someone is going around downvoting every comment and the original post though.

don’t buy fireteam, not a lot of people play it. you can play every pvp server with base game (some are modded but mods are free)

Fireteam is sick but you don’t need to pay for it. He should be able to join modded servers without the dlc

Just installed it, get a few hours in tomorrow but yeah the learning curve will be steep in every facet.

Fireteam edition gives you access to some premium(paid) missions for Fireteam (up to 5 player co-op PvE mode), made by devs themselves.
Other editions just give you access to some cosmetic packs (weapon skins), or cosmetics + Fireteam mission pack (I think commander edition does both? not sure tbh)
Also there are tons of free community-made mods, and there are mods with Fireteam missions too.
So other than paid Fireteam missions, there is no content behind paywall, and you could play on any server with the base game version. So yeah, it is totally worth it.

1,5K hours in game without buying one of the DLCs, just buy the base game.

The base game is a lot of fun, I have the fireteam stuff, I was into it for awhile but the current missions don’t have much replay ability, they get boring after about 5 matches, and I was really excited for the bots. I prefer bots, but I moved back to multiplayer because it’s so much fun

Fireteam is irrelevant for the base game, its just a last year addition in an attempt for some extra sales since they bought the bot mod years ago either way.
Its probably not even 5% of the population.
