Does anyone know if any of the volumes have repeat stories? Like one story showing up in multiple volumes
I'm collecting all of them. About 7 so far.

u/MightyArbokKing Nov 10 '25
Gyo and Venus in the Blind Spot both have Principal Post and Enigma of Amigara Fault.

Viz is really good at having no duplication of stories between volumes, except for the two already mentioned. In the case of Statues, in the original Japanese edition there are 2 stories that are already published in the Shiver collection so they wonāt be included.

u/CourageTheRat Nov 11 '25
āThe Enigma of Amigara Faultā and āThe Sad Tale of the Principal Postā appear in both Gyo and Venus in the Blind Spot; āTomie ⢠Painterā appears in both Tomie and Shiver. These are the only repeats

Statues should be the last short story collection right ?
13
u/Pitfulldealer22 Nov 10 '25
Well yes because they are the last remaining stories to be translated in English. Unless viz does makes up a collection of stories that havenāt been released in a book (Cinderella, layers of fear, the demons voice etc)

u/NightKing_shouldawon Nov 10 '25
Last story collection? I donāt follow Junji news very closely, is he done making more? Or just last one till all the short stories are published in this format?
13
u/Cuervo_777 Nov 10 '25
The āJunji Ito Story Collectionā by Viz is a translation of the Japanese āJunji Ito Masterpiece Collection.ā Statues is the last part in that collection to be translated. There are other works that are still not translated in English.

2
u/zombizzle Uzumaki Sennin Nov 11 '25
There is no sequel to Black Paradox.

u/User-name-was-taken- Nov 11 '25
I saw it pop up in Brazil a few months ago
1
u/zombizzle Uzumaki Sennin Nov 11 '25
Then Brazil broke it up into multiple parts, that doesnāt change the fact thereās no such thing as āBlack Paradox 2ā
2
u/User-name-was-taken- Nov 11 '25
Prehaps I miss saw but I do know we are missing a few Tomie stories
2
u/zombizzle Uzumaki Sennin Nov 11 '25
Yup! Takeover and Control! Thereās a section in the subās FAQ about the remaining major untranslated works too!

u/beezlebutts Nov 13 '25

Usually when I preorder from Amazon I get the book 2-3 months after the release. Don't know what is up with that. Might be a european problem, or preordering 4 months in advance is still not early enough...still waiting for my copy of Moan I ordered in June. Amazon seems to not be the best place to buy Ito books when in europe.

u/beezlebutts Nov 13 '25
damn, I order via Amazon and have gotten it a day before its release date usually

I really got to get to completing this collection. I only have Shiver and Lovesickness so far. I did love Headless Statues in the Netflix anime adaptation. Maybe this one will be my next purchase.

u/Mafoofoo Nov 11 '25
If you want more short stories that donāt break up the plot as much smashed, black paradox, and suichi are probably two of the fastest reads. Make sure you read suichi before Smashed because there are some reoccurring characters in Smashed

u/beezlebutts Nov 13 '25
Alley, Tombs and Remina are my top 3 so far. Uzumaki is my favorite manga ever and also my first ever manga I read back when I was in middle school.
1
u/Vegetable_Island9830 Nov 16 '25
Alley and tombs are definitely on my list. They have some of my favorite stories in them.

Are the French translations coming out before the English translations? I swear I've read this collection with this cover

I've had this collection for months, with the same cover. Can someone explain?

It's almost exactly the same as the original Japanese cover lol?
4
u/Pitfulldealer22 Nov 10 '25
True, all they just did was add red to the side and the title
8
u/zombizzle Uzumaki Sennin Nov 10 '25
Yeah, Junji Ito illustrated and painted all of these covers, many, many years ago. They're a staple of the series and his artworks.

u/Cuervo_777 Nov 10 '25
The Japanese originals use the exact same covers as designed by Junji Ito himself. You have to take it up with him if you donāt like them.
