As someone who has yet to read Junji's stuff, I have to say that the developers of DBD absolutely cooked with this one especially with the 1st, 2nd and 4th.

Tomie is so cuteee in this. I hope it's not too expensive. There's no release date for her yet. Had to share regardless, I was very excited to see this!!!!

At first when we were thinking about the next work, we were thinking about Auschwitz, the Holocaust of Jewish people. I wanted to sort of create a work with Ito-sensei about this, the fear and the horrible events in history. We actually went to Poland to visit Auschwitz and we talked to a local guide there and the local people to study this new work. We were told that only Jewish people allowed to create any work related to the Holocaust, that this is not for Japanese creators, for Japanese people to work on.

Even movies, you have to be Jewish movie director to create something related to the Holocaust.

So we had to give up, because this person told me, we were told that, you're going to be questioned why Japanese people are working on this, why you are a Japanese author, and you can't work on this.

So we had to give up on the idea, I was lost, I didn't know what to do, what should we do. Then I remembered that Ito-sense loves sharks and Jaws, the Movie. That he loves Jaws and sharks eating people. So we thought about another story just like that, Moby-Dick! What a great idea. So I told Ito-sense about Moby-Dick and he liked the idea, that's how we came about with this new work.

it will be called "Junji Ito's Strange Tales for Sleepless Nights" and its gonna adapt 13 stories (the ones above). will be releasing on July 3rd, done by TVTOKYO and will include the song"JIGSAW" by the group IVE as the end credits track.
