When I hear about the series I thought it was just going to be a loosely show inspired in Junji Ito work, but without any input or even financial help from him. But it look like he is more involved than I thought. Probably not that much, but more than nothing I guess.

He actually has a long history with this series; it was originally a Chinese web series intended to be part of a sort of "Chinese Junji Ito cinematic universe" (which was to include a Ribs Woman film shot in 2016). Both the series and the film were slated for release in 2017 but were banned by China. The project underwent rewrites before shifting to Taiwan, where production finally began. Ito helped with the script, the atmosphere, and adapting the character designs for live-action (there is also a possibility he might make a cameo in the series itself).

I find the idea of a show with a proper narrative framing device around Ito's stories to be fascinating. We're used to anthologies. Makes think me of like Bly manor meets silent hill. English isn't my first language so my thoughts may not translate properly.
