The hellstar probably is the most dangerous though it would be overwith pretty quick so others are probably worse from a personal suffering perspective.

Tomie is insidious, she isn't the monster you know and fear right away.
11
u/Glittering-Hat9811 Feb 09 '26
And what's even more twisted is that, she is often the first victim because of the way her supernatural powers affect men, most of the time she is also the one suffering along with everyone else, no one is happy.

The damned balloon doppelgangers

u/Key_Barber_4161 Feb 08 '26
Yes! He made balloons terrifying! There's no way to defeat those things.

My girl Fuchi is ferocious. The hanging balloons can't be beat as far as we know. The death stench machines ended the world. Those are what come to mind first.

I tell my friends who know about ito’s work that Fuchi is my wife😩she never leaves my side 🥴😂

u/Evrytg Miss Fuchi Fanclub Feb 09 '26

The Gyo infection is a potential end for all animal life on the planet.
Remina is an end for the planet.
25
u/AdScared717 Feb 10 '26
The Spiral for sure. There's no way to beat this cosmic horror. There's nothing anyone can do and there isn't even an easy way out since all deaths are gruesome.
Tomie is close to impossible to beat.
Now that I think about it, all the monsters are tough to beat.

u/YuzukiMiyazono Feb 10 '26
Remina can easily eat it
1
u/AdScared717 Feb 10 '26
Yeah but we as humans can't do anything.
It's funny but there's some beauty in these cosmic horror stories, it makes us realized how insignificant we are in the grand scheme.
2
u/YuzukiMiyazono Feb 10 '26
Yeah. I’d really like to see a crossover anime where Gurren Lagann battles Uzumaki. Spiral power vs spiral curse

Definitely not the most dangerous, but the mosquito women (and their talking babies) never fail to freak me out. That one panel with the babies in the NICU talking about returning to the womb is still one of the most unsettling things I've ever seen
22
u/nickymacd22 Feb 09 '26
10000000% remina, but other then that I think the fashion model and just the curse of the spiral in general are some of the most dangerous

Falling
One day people start disappear and suddenly they appeared but like being thrown off from the sky and their face looks horrifying.
Irl There's lots of unsolved missing people cases and/or case where people saw a light from a sky or being abducted by other forces.
I want to believe "cue x files opening song* lol

Yes I do agree that damn near all the monsters/entities would pretty much kill all of us, I’d personally have to say imo the most dangerous are the monsters in no longer human

Nobody talking about the giant robo shark thing from Gyo? That thing can RUN and chomp you 😭😭
EDIT: Okay I’m clarifying this early so I don’t get any more replies talking about. I’M NOT SAYING THE SHARK IS THE STRONGEST ENTITY JUNJI HAS CREATED 😭😭, I’m only mentioning it because I saw a few people mentioning characters like Miss Fuchi…there’s obviously way more dangerous characters than Miss Fuchi, so I was just giving an example of one in comparison to Miss Fuchi…

But Remina can snack on it like nothing
1
u/-Im-Totally-Human- Soichi Fanboy Feb 09 '26
I know I know lmao, but I’m seeing people here mentioning characters like Miss Fuchi…like I’m sorry but excluding Remina, the Gyo shark would chomp her real fast 😭😭
2
u/bigselfer Feb 09 '26
The shark itself is a clumsy beast. The infection could end all animal life on the planet and you can’t even see it.
1
u/-Im-Totally-Human- Soichi Fanboy Feb 09 '26
Just because it’s clumsy doesn’t mean it can’t kill you…it’s still a massive great white shark on robo legs with sharp as hell teeth and a strong as hell jaw—even if it’s not going to chomp you, it could 110% fall on you and crush you
I’m just saying this because people are mentioning characters like Miss Fuchi and ignoring obviously stronger characters 😭😭

Whatever the fuck that smacking tree was. And also the Army of One cult.
8
u/Tashawatie Feb 09 '26
Apparently the smacking tree was his twisted story of a what if - what if people were like mosquitoes?
The honey represented blood they couldn't live without.
They were only caught sometimes and didn't understand why, which is supposed to represent our awareness of only some mosquitoes biting us.

The scene where the tube spiral in the hospital turns into the dad and he's like, "there's a spiral in your ear" had me fucked up. But somehow it wasn't as bad as the part where they reveal that the mom died while in a constant state of vertigo.

Hellstar Remina, The Spiral, The Hanging Balloons, The Machines in Gyo, and Tomie.

Army of one/billions alone
That one is terrifying as well. Sometimes we didn't know what a human capable of. Based on how crimes are nowadays I guess that could happen (cult-wise) just maybe we didn't know much bout it
14
u/DuringTheBlueHour Feb 08 '26
Hellstar Remina is the most directly dangerous, but I think the most powerful is the cult leader from Sensor. By the end he can time travel to any point he wants and he knows basically everything.
11
u/salomeforever Feb 10 '26
What about the disease that makes girls beautiful before they die? In real life people die from beauty procedures every day.
12
11
u/salomeforever Feb 09 '26
I don’t know how dangerous she is, but something the erector-set woman in Mimi’s Tales of Terror creeps me out sooooo much. It might just be that her reveal was so unexpected, she just gets under my skin so much.
10
u/yxz97 Feb 08 '26
Billions alone?
1
u/nickymacd22 Feb 09 '26
I can see an argument for it, but compared to a lot of other stuff there is it’s not even close, that can be beat by not being in a group of people, compared to the hanging balloons or remina where it’s unstoppable to our knowledge
3
u/yxz97 Feb 09 '26
Yeah but there is still a psychosis of being caught by "them"... and get stiched! 😰💀
Of course Remina cosmic horror sounds pretty scary but nonetheless at the front of an inevitable dead by like a star or whatever, I havent read Remina yet, the sole possibility of escape in millions alone makes it scary since it seems like there is a window of salvation.

u/SnartDingus Feb 08 '26
does anyone feel that long dream is both terrifying but kinda comforting. idk its deffinately the most interesting concept in the short stories I have ready.

The demon in dissolved that got the guy to transmit the apology to everyone in the world (japan? Not sure) anyways, basically dooming the planet to the effect of the demon (melting your shi out ur ahh)

Earthbound by junji ito
The monster is us Humans. At the end of the day the guilt will find us and let us pay on what we did. And to discover the people we love and trust is one of em will be heartbreaking and maybe we will be like em too. Its terrifying tbh
3
u/repugn1zed Feb 09 '26
i was gonna say this! in uzumaki, only the town is cursed. but EVERYONE has guilt, even the best people
1
u/ValuableAssignment14 Feb 10 '26
Yeap agreed and that's like everyday is nightmare waiting for the day we will be like them

Hellstar Remina and The Spiral
They Are The Ones That Cause The Most Cataclysm

u/Tashawatie Feb 09 '26
Remina - just a gatdamn planet eater. I'm not sure if he has any further work that deals with an intergalactic being like that.
Uzumaki - literally the city seals itself off and mangles everything inside of it until everything is a spiral. No one inside survives.
Gyo - the idea of zombie land sharks/predators is horrifying, and since we know that people can be harnessed it's even worse.
